  1. i'm glad they're keeping walker and his .355 OBP 'in the picture'.
  2. stupid duke.
  3. kerry wood got traded to baltimore?? Wood has better stuff than Burnett? Ha! It's Sunday night, man. Don't you have to go to work tomorrow? You shouldn't be liquored up this late. Burnett's raw stuff may be marginally better than Wood's. You seem to have the gift of hyperbole tonight. Burnett has better stuff than Wood? By what measure? Wood has far more ks/9 and a much better BAA. Wood has better stuff hands down. Other than your opinion, what basis do you have for Burnett having better stuff? Asking because I don't know, and too lazy to look for it, but what is the difference in K/BB? I think that Burnett has shown better control, but I can't say for sure. kerry: 10.44 k/9 aj 'best stuff since koufax' burnett: 7.94
  4. kerry wood got traded to baltimore?? Wood has better stuff than Burnett? Ha! It's Sunday night, man. Don't you have to go to work tomorrow? You shouldn't be liquored up this late. Burnett's raw stuff may be marginally better than Wood's. You seem to have the gift of hyperbole tonight. No hyperbole. I never said it's way better. It is, however, clearly better. eh, whatever. wood has a lower baa and higher k/9. i'm not gonna get into a debate about it. if it makes you feel any better... johan santana got traded to baltimore??
  5. what a surprise -- the people that posted the BS want to drop it. it's not that big of a deal, but it does lower the credibility of the site when people are all 'OMG len casper tolded me that the cubs signed raphael furcal!' i, for one, think you're full of crap. even if you did have that conversation, common sense would tell you (as it told most of everyone else) that it was not really len. and since you're so insistent that it was len, it seems to me that you're full of it.
  6. walker is better than any of those 2b. why try to 'upgrade' one of the few positions you have solidified?
  7. good thing hendry signed rusch to a two year deal.
  8. is there anything hendry would love more than to have all the free agents and trade targets compete in a huge 100 m dash? top five finishers all get contracts/traded for and are in the running for the cubs' leadoff hitter.
  9. man, if i were the mets, cardinals, or any other team in the market for a 2b, i'd be salivating at the chance to dupe hendry out of walker. good pop, pretty good obp, cheap contract. just start out the talks w/ 'well, walker doesn't play very good d, but i suppose i'd take him off your hands.'
  10. believe it or not, lots of people think neifi is good.
  11. If they're grown men, I'm sure they can take it and not get all sensitive. So while we're disregarding people, we'll just call everyone who they feel applies whiny, stupid, arrogant, etc. Oh well, at least we'll finally be able to call out [you] for being a jerk all the time. finally!
  12. best move hendry's made all off-season. and people say i'm always negative.
  13. don't worry, hendry said that he'll have that 5/50 contract waiting for him in three years.
  14. i'd be kind of surprised if len kasper was in AIM tonight dishing out hot gossip, but only on the condition that the other guy, likely a stranger who he has never met, wouldn't tell because it's confidential.
  15. He still does. Do you expect any less than a 320/430/550 line from him next season? I meant before being embroiled in the current steroid controversey. I don't care what his line is now. As far as I'm concerned, his numbers are tainted. no doubt. and i don't feel like fans should have to try and figure out what he would have done had he not done steroids. maybe he would have put up 320/430/550 w/o roids, but there's no way to tell, and i'm not about to give that cheater the benefit of the doubt.
  16. The sad thing is this is the type of analysis the Cubs organization relies upon. Completely unproven "seems to" "usually" "always" statements with no actual facts to back them up can't tell you anything about your ballclub. Corey had 8 at bats with the bases loaded last year. Burnitz, Neifi, Barrett and Ramirez all had more. And others had more total plate appearances with the bases loaded. JB hit .176/.250/.353 with the bases loaded in twice the number of opportunities. Nomar actually had similar number of chances to Corey, and hit worse, with a line of .000/.000/.000. Perception is a killer when you don't have the willingness or ability to confirm your suspicions with a little fact checking. don't you dare doubt baker...his teams go to the postseason every year.
  17. when he's not ready for spring, they'll say they never figured he'd be ready by the spring. and they won't mention anything about his meaningless bullpen outings.
  18. man, i hate these, 'if a gm does it, it must be right' statements. lots of good players get released, waived, dumped, skipped over in the draft, etc. gm's are not infallible.
  19. why is it that when another gm does something stupid, it's suddenly ok that hendry did the same stupid thing?
  20. hate to say it, but hohokam's the worst park in the cactus league. the crowds are huge, the food sucks, and the parking is awful. both tempe and scottsdale have better stadiums. but if you're looking to check out fitch in the morning before catching a big league game in the afternoon, you may want to go to the hohokam game.
  21. trade for castillo...but give him the red light on stealing bases.
  22. please tell me you're not a) calling finley a superstar and b) comparing finley (career .781 OPS) to nomar (career .911 OPS) and c) saying that finley, age 41, is bound for a good year because he's in his contract...er...retirement year.
  23. i'd rather have a crappy 25 year old than a crappy 45 year old. and for those saying finley did well in 2004...i think patterson has a better chance of repeating 2003 than finley does of repeating 2004.
