  1. hill, marshall, or guzman? hmm...
  2. well, it looks like one of these guys will open the season in the rotation. should be a fun competition to follow.
  3. both williams and rusch are usually horrible in ST. no worries. i'm more worried that both are usually horrible during the regular season. raw beats me to it. his wit is lightning quick, people.
  4. i don't know where the idea that hairston is solid defensively at 2nd came from. i think he's average at best. it seems like defensive ability is based mostly on reputation and a couple of quotes. larussa says pujols is a GG defender, so now everyone says it. someone in minnesota said walker sucks defensively, so now everyone says it.
  5. i don't have a problem w/ what he said, but he doesn't seem like he really wants to stay in chicago when he says stuff like this... walker's mouth is going to lead to us suffering through 150 games of neifi at 2b.
  6. if japanese umps had taken that run away from the us, everybody would be flipping out.
  7. i won't be there til the 18th...hopefully that business will be gone by then.
  8. man, i'm sure glad the days w/o rain streak is over. now that means it definitely won't rain when i'm there, right?
  9. dude, he's pitched like 20 major league innings. are you serious? he went to college. and he jumped three levels last year. come on.
  10. That's the key really, learning how to win. exactly. dusty can't just ignore a 2-0 record. BH, i'm just watching the yahoo boxscore refresh itself.
  11. 6-4 cubs. hill could get out of this w/ a win...assuming he made it through the second.
  12. yes, these two spring training innings have sold me.
  13. hill gave up a run on two hits in the first.
  14. i thought xm couldn't broadcast split squad games. i'm really disappointed in their ST coverage...it blows.
  15. if i remember correctly, hohokam opens two hours before game time. i don't think i've ever seen the cubs take BP before a game there. they either do it before the park opens or at another location that fans can't get to. parking at hohokam does suck. it's all just grassy hills. we were there once in the middle of a serious downpour, and i seriously don't know how there weren't 500 accidents. cars were trying to drive up steep grass hills that were buried in standing water, tires were spinning, cars were rolling back down the hills...it took us forever to get out of there.
  16. Maybe Hill/Guzman have a chance to start the year in the rotation after all..... both have been better than williams or rusch, though obviously in limited action. i haven't been able to figure out dusty's formula as to who spring training counts for yet, however... It's a good thing he isn't managing the Padres. Bobby Hill, Josh Barfield, and Bellhorn are battling for the 2nd base job... wow, two guys he hates plus a rookie. he'd be making a call to delino.

  18. good thing spring training doesn't count for rusch.
  19. just like you're not used to spending the postseason at home. if you say it enough, it'll catch on.
  20. Just for that I'm taking Eddie away. In light of your historic avoidance of avatar and signature pics in the fear that it will divulge your true identity and somehow provide GPS coordinates to your exact location, I found it more shocking than the idea that Paula Abdul's stunt double has been using performance enhancers. Of course, there was the alternative theory floated by Abuck that you were too technologically challenged to figure out how to use the image function, but adherence to that idea would have forced me to give Abuck a scintilla of credibility. ABUCK might have been right. there's your new sig right there.
  21. last year the i-cubs' website posted the schedule for minor league spring training games, but the site has recently changed, so i don't know if they'll do it again.
  22. he makes it so easy.
  23. he saved the third inning! Just like he saved last year for the Cubs! Tough crowd. we love our neifi.
