  1. so b/c gooz hasn't had the chance to get rattled, he gets the call? gallagher hasn't shown to be rattled in a big league game yet, do you want to bring him up? heck, i haven't been rattled in a major league game yet either. if you'd rather have gooz over hill, fine. but that seems like a strange reason to favor gooz.
  2. Who knows. Hill should be the one getting the start right now. Of course, I sure as heck hope they decided on that Wednesday spot before the move was made. I won't be happy if they disrupted Guzman and then brought Hill up for Wednesday. either way, i'll be disappointed. hill deserves to start, but it's foolish to have gooz be the 20th option out of the pen and mess up his schedule...but at least he's been 100% healthy over the past couple years, so i'm sure he can take the yanking around.
  3. i thought the cubs were in the business of earning roster spots. hill 19 ip, 11 h, 3 er, 5 bb, 23 k's, 1 hr, 1-0, 1.42 era guzman 16 ip, 15 h, 12 er, 3 bb, 23 k's, 4 hr, 1-2, 6.61 era guess not. please just trade hill.
  4. If you are going to score runs in an inning, most likely you are going to have to get to the 5th batter. let's worry about that problem when we get to it. and if you do get down to the 5th batter of the inning, it's likely that you're either back in the game or have guys on base...wouldn't you like to be able to pick your hitter for the situation instead of being locked into having neifi bat?
  5. not to mention the fact that when walker was double switched out, the pitcher's spot wasn't due up until 5th the next inning.
  6. i heard jacque jones sold for 85 cents. so the cubs didn't get their money back on that investment.
  7. i've always thought that the best way to bolster your already weak lineup is to take out your best hitter in the fifth inning b/c the pitcher is due up fifth in the sixth. oh, and if you're still not scoring runs, you're going to want to take out your best hitting outfielder and replace him w/ the closest thing you have to jose macias.
  8. he did??? you gotta be kidding me...the pitcher's spot won't come up this inning anyway. as if the lineup didn't suck enough...
  9. 4 2/3 ip and leaving em loaded for pujols is not a good outing, i don't care how many runs he gave up. the pen needed a rest after last night, and rusch didn't give it to them.
  10. Eckstein walked? Now but the two guys before him did. without Eckstein's single that run doesn't score without the walks it doesn't score either. let's hope their best hitter sucks as bad w/ guys on base as the cubs' does.
  11. might want to reconsider the strategy of walking so taguchi, john rodriguez, and hector luna to get to the best hitter in baseball. sent him to the pen where he belongs, please.
  12. nice and aggressive...just like clines and sarge want.
  13. so brenly is glad that walker got thrown out at 2nd?
  14. ramirez isn't going to see anything w/ this lineup.
  15. is that walker's idea of small ball? stupid.
  16. is this part of operation shut down?
  17. Gooz. Marmol is down at West Tenn. Good choices. And there's Hill too of course. hill pitched (well) last night.
  18. It's too bad that Ryu is starting tonight in Iowa. That rules out him helping tomrorrow. Wuertz can't be called up for a few more days if I'm not mistaken. Nice play by Ronnie! is there anyone else in iowa that's on the 40 man?
  19. the cubs may have to make a roster move after the game tonight. novoa won't be able to go tomorrow, and it's possible aardsma won't either. and rusch is pitching tomorrow. time to stretch out howry and eyre!!
  20. Maybe he's making up for bunting the first pitch of the game when everyone was expecting him to do so. pierre is overrated in so many ways, it's hard to find a place to start. however, i'll go out on a limb and say his bunting may be the most overrated aspect of his game. :? I wonder what his average is when he attempts to bunt? i don't know, but during spring training brenly told me he hardly ever is retired trying to bunt for a hit. since then i've seen it like 7 times.

  22. good lord, use a hitter. it's not like it's the 2nd inning. stupid.
