  1. I'll say it right now Hill is destined to be a lefty Spicialist and a darn fine one at that. Unless he figures it out late in life, he is 26. thanks for your proclamation. i'll make a note of it. by the way, it's a lot easier to say that certain minor leaguers won't make it (as you've so deftly pointed out, most don't). why don't you rattle me off some guys that you think will make it?
  2. and jeff weaver to salt lake city.
  3. Really? I can tell by the pbp that he is pitching very poorly. apparently he can't hold baserunners either. fortunately for him vladdy swings at everything. at least this inning all (?) the hits have been on the ground. and it all started with a slow infield roller. his biggest problem this inning was his inability to finish off two lefites that he had 0-2.
  4. no kidding? thanks for enlightening me. which is not very frickin' many.
  5. and with rusch, williams, maddux and hill in the rotation, you need someone that can hit the freaking ball. damn it, hill...4-2. Defense and pitching wins. hey, if the cliche sounds good, it must be true. It's not a Cliche and you know it's true. Look at any world series winner the past 3-4 years and you will see Solid D and Great pitching. yeah, i think we all remember boston's '04 team for its flashy defense. oh, and a lineup full of high OBP mashers. hill's had two lefties 0-2...he needs to k those guys.
  6. I'm still waiting for his talent to shine. I mean basically he hasn't shown anything but a above average to great curve ball. I know he's only got 20 innings under his belt in the bigs, but I can't see how in the world you are going to be an effective starter with 1 pitch. He blew Vlad away with two FB's up in the zone. Big deal! He still gave up 2 runs in the first inning. Can you honestly say Rich Hill has impressed you. At all? 190+ k's in 130 minor league innings is pretty impressive. but apparently you're basing your judgment on what he's done since 2:00 today...

  9. one pitch rich (hey, that's a pretty catchy nickname) k's vlad w/ a fastball.
  10. No one has ever said Walker can't hit, but his fielding is very suspect espically with the bad leg. Don't you view him as an more of a American League guy? possibly. but the cubs shouldn't be in the business of giving AL teams DH's for nothing.
  11. In all fairness, those ABs don't really tell you anything. But it would be stupid nonetheless. yeah, but those two ab's are representative of why it would be stupid. in any event, it's stupid.
  12. wow, if the last two ab's (walker's and murton's) don't show you how stupid it would be to trade walker for another lf, i don't know what will.
  13. hurry up and trade walker for a 5th OF already. 2-0.
  14. big chance for hill to grab onto that 5th spot.
  15. fergie joins in on criticizing wood and prior. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-060315mitchell,1,4161254.column?coll=cs-cubs-utility why is it that these people act as though wood and prior are the guys who decide what type of throwing routine they're on?
  16. yeah, you guys are old. i didn't know this was a 70 and older league.
  17. why do they even have this stupid thing if it's not going to be on tv? lame.
  18. who can't eat up innings? i've never understood why guys who get battered around for 5-6 innings get praised simply for taking up innings.
  19. last year one of the minor league teams' website had a schedule for the spring games at fitch, but i haven't seen one yet for this year. anybody see anything?
  20. sweet cutoffs.
  21. hilarious. trading for a guy that can't even beat out patterson, who the cubs ran out of town.
  22. and while i don't have any article on hand, he strikes me as the kind of guy that would naysay the whole 'babying the pitcher' talk that started around that time.
  23. good thing we beefed up the offense by adding jones!
  24. in a way the cubs are cursed...with people that apparently don't know how to keep pitchers healthy.
  25. Huh? i'm guessing prior won't be in the rotation to begin the season. z, maddux, williams, rusch, hill/guz/marshall. ew.
