  1. walker just punched neifi in the nuts when he was introduced as the 2b.
  2. I see...so both teams have forsaken the #2 spot... :P The Cards lineup is uglier than the Cubs. that's why i don't think the cards will win the central this year. that lineup sucks. they have five black holes in their lineup (six if you count the pitcher). if pujols, edmonds, or rolen slump/get hurt, they're going to have problems scoring runs.
  3. if he was still eligible at catcher, i would have no doubt kept him.
  4. blanco/cedeno will hit 7th/8th, so i bet neifi hits 2nd. a lineup w/ blanco, neifi, jacque and cedeno could really suck.
  5. i should have kept shelton.
  6. mariotti's gone love this attention.
  7. so is dusty. oh, you said dumbfounded.
  8. alou is going to be a dp machine hitting behind bonds.
  9. but rusch has more experience with being terrible than hill. by the way, it looks like rain here in des moines.
  10. no way in hell that's true. i think i saw him k three times in one game in des moines. edit: he struck out 93 times in nashville.
  11. why is this a story? so the cardinals were up by 100 and larussa wanted his pitcher to throw a strike? wow, larussa is a tactical genius and a saint! it's not like wainwright was trying to walk him on purpose and larussa put a stop to it or something. geez...
  12. wow...papelbon! i may have a spare closer to trade soon...
  13. that's the funny thing. for all the havoc he caused on the basepaths today -- way more than one guy will usually cause on a given day -- all it amounted to was ONE run. meanwhile six other guys simply put one good swing on a ball and accounted for TEN.
  14. i can't tell you how john patterson is going to pitch tonight, but i can tell you that i like his beard!
  15. it led to one run. the home runs accounted for four. your point is...?
  16. you're right...he scored on his homerun b/c he was fast! :D
  17. Pretty bad when defending someone you can't even defend him and go WAY off topic. Game would've been tied if not for Barrett's 2 bonehead plays. This was only the 2nd game folks, get used to seeing this all year. it's not off topic at all. you said 'chalk this one up to barrett' as if he was the lone reason the cubs lost. that obviously wasn't the case, as evidenced by the walks and home runs.
  18. yeah, that really pissed me off when he gave up all those walks and home runs.
  19. 10 of the 14 runs scored on homers today.
  20. speed has gotten the cubs back in this game!
  21. Guzman was on the hill in Des Moines last night in an exhibition game against the University of Iowa. How did he do? Can't find a box score but the I-Cubs won 20-0. Guzman and Hill both pitched according to the story on the U of I baseball website but nothing on who else threw. The Hawkeyes only had four hits. three of them were off guzman.
  22. i liked it better when the minor league pitchers that should be in the rotation instead of rusch pitched on the same day as him, so it was easier to see how ridiculous it was that the cubs kept rusch in there.
  23. santos was traded to toronto, by the way.
  24. i think the reds, royals, pirates, rockies and marlins have the best team chemistry. i guess we'll see how they end up!
