  1. he gave him 3 years cause other teams were offering him 2 and he didn't want encanarcion, sanders and burnitz. sure he likes him, but he doesn't "covet" Jones-types. that's absurd. he covets beltran-types, but the trib doesn't covet 7yr and 119 contracts. What is absurd is the fact that it's true that Hendry likes Jones type players. It's painfully obvious to anybody that has paid attention to Hendry moves and/or listened to what he says he likes in a player. so flip flopping on the coveting charge? jones hasn't sucked like many predicted. calm down. funny coming from a guy who used to be pierre's biggest supporter and now wants him benched.
  2. are people complaining about the ump b/c they think he's squeezing z? because strike two to langerhans was nowhere near the plate.
  3. i love how they talk about the 2005 astros as if that type of miracle turnaround is the rule rather than the exception. idiots.
  4. in the greatest hits catalog of baker's worst lineups, this one's toward the top.
  5. you know, if soriano was under contract for a couple more years, i probably wouldn't care if they did that.
  6. from the trib... you know what else the cubs rank last in? pretty much EVERY OTHER OFFENSIVE CATEGORY. it's not luck that the cubs are this bad. this guy CANNOT be this stupid.
  7. i say give him a ten year extension. after all, he was in the on-deck circle when hank aaron hit 715. and the guy who caught 715? make him pitching coach or something.
  8. sliding catch by coats ends the inning. two ground ball singles plate another run against hill. at least he's getting some grounders for a change. he does have 5 k's thru 3.
  9. hill strikes out the side in the 2nd, but he gives up four hits (including two infield hits) and three runs. over 50 pitches thru 2, but he's only had one 3 ball count.
  10. If opposing pitchers had simply not thrown Dubois any fastballs, he would've never made it out of A ball. That's probably got a lot to do with it. if it were that easy, don't you think that's what they would have done?
  11. the cubs are closing in on the knicks.
  12. WALKS getting some pub.
  13. What are you going to do with all that money in your Cubbie Fund now, Abuck? crystal meth and prostitutes.
  14. this lady may start to cry.
  15. now bush is on...second dumbest person i've heard on this station in the last five minutes.
  16. now he wants credit for locking up lee. good work, fellas!
  17. these idiots have talked about the astros miracle season more than the houston media.
  18. "pitching is 80% of the equation" no wonder the offense sucks so bad.
  19. so far he has thrown Rusch, Williams and Murton under the bus sounds like the wrigley grass is next on the list. damn you, lawn!
  20. so it's all murton's fault then?
  21. raw, did you ever pick a bad time to grab elmer dessens.
  22. I remember people screaming so loud it would wake up a deaf person about not allowing Dusty to platoon Murton this year (before it started). And it was WIDESPREAD. that was because it was a fear that he'd be platooned w/ a todd hollandsworth type guy. if he platoons w/ jacque, and the cubs get a stud for the other spot, i doubt many complain.
  23. I don't understand all the infatuation with Dubois. What was so great about him? Maybe it's my frustration, but with all of our failures, I'm not sure that our farm system is very good. But I've also lost all my confidence in MacPhail/Hendry, etc,... who's infatuated w/ him?
