  1. 1 to 7? That's some helluva movement from a lefty. you know what i mean...not so much top to bottom (like a 12 to 6)...more of a down and in.
  2. i really hate fantasy baseball these past two weeks. harang's crusing w/ a shutout thru 5 and he gives up a couple runs and is taken out 1 out short of a QS. i have two QS (jannsen and park) on my bench while the pitchers i've actually started have sucked balls lately. funny how that kind of [expletive] happens all in the same week, you know? i guess it's better that way.
  3. listening to these idiots on BBTN it's like they feel bad for the players he ratted out...as if those players are innocent parties or something. i have a hard time having sympathy for those guys.
  4. it doesn't surprise me that hill is tougher on righties. that's always what i've seen in the handful of times i've seen him pitch in the minors. his 1-to-7 type curve gets a lot of gross check swings vs. righties.
  5. i was gonna say jesus with a little bit of zeus. oh, and koufax.
  6. you suck, giants. and i hope willis' arm falls off. my opponents have been throwing some ridiculous pitching at me the past couple weeks. complete games from batista and willis...two near no-no's by young. meanwhile, five of my last eight starts have gone for negative points. hurry back, sheets, patterson, and clemens....
  7. and i thought the cubs were stupid for wanting guys that had good character, speed, and clutchness... link
  8. uggla's pissed that you think you need an upgrade.
  9. and the giants can't get a guy in from third w/ less than two outs for the 40th time today. the surprising part? alou grounds into a DP w/ the bases loaded...shocking.
  10. you're assuming walker wants to do the cubs the favor and take a one year deal when they have no intention of keeping him beyond that. you're also assuming all is forgiven after an offseason of constantly trying to trade him. i know soriano's shortcomings, but i'm thinking like jim hendry, who obviously has no concern for OBP. and if you're going to throw OBP out the window, you better get someone that can slug .500, which soriano's done 4 out of the last 5 years.
  11. he also made today's BA hot sheet at #5.
  12. yeah, that shouldn't be allowed.
  13. First: Soriano has made no secret about returning to the AL (perhaps the Yankees), so I doubt he will be interested in the Cubs, unless he gets an Albert Pujols type contract. Second: I prefer Eric Patterson at 2B. soriano will be so much more productive than patterson over the next few years it's ridiculous. soriano's pushing a 1.000 OPS right now in the bigs...patterson's pushing .800 in AA.
  14. no kidding - what's up with him? one pick away from getting webb. quite the difference... i need to trade one of my closers just so i don't have to choose which ones to start on a weekly basis...i always guess wrong.
  15. i hate you, josh beckett.
  16. Me too. I've given up hope on the Cubs embracing OBP, so I just hope they get all the .300 hitting/30 HR guys they can get. exactly my thinking.
  17. tough stretch for me coming off my second loss...three straight weeks against teams w/ 7 or 8 wins.
  18. yeah, i can't stop laughing. i certainly didn't predict that young and batista would combine for almost 100 points by themselves. i actually had a pretty decent week offensively. my pitching (especially my pen) killed me.
  19. jordan creek in west des moines is pretty nice. lots of shopping and lots of good restaurants. it's probably 15 minutes from downtown.
  20. heck, let's just pull up all the grass and put in cement...and shorten the bases to 70 feet...and have there only be three bases instead of four. the possibilities are endless.
  21. link all right...now that we've got the lawn mowed, a left-handed bp pitcher, warm weather, as well as the imminent return of pagan, the cubs should be ready to turn this thing around. how'd the cubs do in florida, again? apparently he only told pierre and the tribune.
  22. a three inning win from duaner sanchez? not my week.
