wow, i didn't know the BS "bad luck" line was being bought at a national level. good to know that this horrible three year run is NOT the fault of hendry, baker, rothschild, or the trainers. BAD BREAKS!!!

yeah, once prior gets back this offense is really going to take off. i hate to defend dusty, but the majority of the blame does go to hendry. all the promise he showed in 2003 is but a distant memory now. the guy is a terrible GM. i want dusty fired too, but as long as hendry's in charge, it probably won't matter.

I didn't mean to imply his return would have much impact, but his injury has been mentioned by Hendry as contributing to the team's struggles.... so as soon as everyone gets back, we can watch the team continue to struggle without excuses. then hendry is an idiot. i'm pretty sure that a crummy 5th outfielder is not the difference between winning and losing very often. -
when the marlins are laughing at you, you know your team sucks. and, yes, i think the marlins were definitely laughing at the cubs after that one.

Right. Because we don't know what happens next. Are you in denial? Do you not see a patern here? If we have a patern repeat itself 5 times, isn't that a pretty good indication that it will repeat again? Since he made his last start there's a 100% chance he'll make this next start. It's called math, people. unfortunately, there's also a 100% chance that he'll give up three runs in five innings.

How about OBP among all players that have started every game in the season? I dunno about that - it would be hard to check on since different teams have played different numbers of games thus far, but I can tell you this: Pierre's OBP in the leadoff spot is the worst among qualified batters in MLB. Cedeno's OBP in the #2 spot is second worst among batters with 75 AB or more at that position in the order. Our OBP in the 1 and 2 spots in the order is actually worse so far this year than it was in 2005, when we had that fabulous 1-2 punch of Patterson and Perez. hilarious.

you honestly think that getting ONE guy back is going to turn the second worst offense in baseball to an offense capable of contending for a world series? i'd trade all the players and contracts in the marlins system for all the players and contracts in the cubs system. -
two walks for patterson tonight, giving him 8 for the season (in 115 or so PA). pierre also has 8 walks (in 187 or so PA). amazing. he also had two more steals. nice trade jimbo !

you don't think that a player, specifically one of patterson's breed, can go to a new team with a different coaching staff/approach and do better? that's essentially a change of scenery. that's a change in coaching staff. that can make a difference. but just saying the guy goes from la to seattle and poof, he's turned it around...i don't really buy that. not saying it doesn't happen, but it's not as frequent as people think.

Huh? Why does anyone want to hear about a player sucking? Why should that be publicized? A player reviving his career, OTH, is actually news. i was just saying i don't buy the change of scenery argument.

i hate the change of scenery claim. it gets so overblown b/c when a guy goes to a new place and revives his career it gets all kinds of pub. the thousand other times when a struggling player goes to a new team and continues to suck, you don't hear anything about it.

son of a... i benched nathan this week b/c he only had five games, and he scores 8.5 out of the pen tonight...that's hard to do!
