  1. If Hill was struggling a "Little" he'd still be pitching in the Bigs. i'm not going to have the hill argument for the 1000th time. he pitched 20 innings in '05 and 20 in '06. he had two terrible outings in '05, but he also had three good to great outings of more than four innings. i've never said he's cy young, all i'm saying is he deserves a better chance than the ones he's received.
  2. I think todays performence was actually good. The Defense and the Offense let him down in a big time way today... nine baserunners (though one hit should have been an out) in 4+ innings isn't very good. How many base runners have Radke had today? Are you saying he's not impressive also today? he certainly wasn't impressive early on. he's been better the past couple innings.
  3. At least Marmol and Marshal has shown some sort of talent and poise. Hill has no poise, walked the world, and just was flat out awful with a 9 ERA. era of 5 = talent and poise era of 9 = flat out awful got it. Oh c'mon! I'm not going to sit here and bring out all the stats of every start of these pitchers. You watch the games as much as I do, if you can honestly say that Hill has impressed you, then knock yourself out. hill's 100+ AAA innings have been nothing short of amazing. that's impressed me. i'm not foolish enough to make a judgment based on a few bad big league innings.
  4. As much as people here have been drooling over Marshall, his numbers have not been all that good this season. He's handled himself well, all things considered, but I don't think he's proven much more than any other pitching prospect in this system. I mean, for heaven's sake, his ERA is 4.92 with an away ERA of 6.53! That's just dreadful. I don't think drooling is the word. No one projected him as a number one starter. He made a huge jump from the low Minors and he's held his own. hill made a bigger jump last year, struggled a little, and has been written off by many.

  7. the cubs really need to start limiting marshall's innings. whether that means putting him on strict pitch count or skipping him when they get the chance, it needs to happen. he's never thrown more than 100 innings in a season, and he's on pace to go well over that. and he's really sucked his last three times out.
  8. That play between Walker and Nevin was awful. it's just tough for dusty to win with this young team.
  9. i'm pretty sure it was only speculation. hendry's terrible, but he's not that bad. even if he was, there's no way the reds would have done the deal anyway, so i don't know why that rumor gets so much play around here.
  10. brenley sticking it to the cubs right now.
  11. wow, today's game is setting new highs (lows?) for ineptitude.
  12. dusty's teams always have good fundamentals.
  13. has this ever been verified as true?
  14. man, pierre is the most overrated player in baseball.
  15. That ball shouldn't have been dropped to begin with. ya think? he still didn't need to cut it. don't know if it would have got him or not, but there was no need to cut it.
  16. when savior pagan comes back, murton is going to ride that bench so hard.
  17. No, they should have TRADED Hill, back when everyone in baseball was under the impression he was the real deal. (Wasn't he the most sought after Cub prospect this offseason?) Now they'll be doing their usual move of selling low. I'd rather see them give Hill one more shot to prove himself. (Though I have my doubts whether he'll ever be as good as Hendry seemed to think.) have you seen hill's numbers over the past month or so? he's been one of the two or three best pitchers in all of minor league baseball this year, and he's doing it in a great hitter's league. not every team in baseball is as short-sighted and impatient as you (or dusty baker), and they realize that a handful of bad big league outings doesn't mean the guy's career is over. hill still has a lot of trade value. and i wish they'd trade him.
  18. http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060624/capt.96ae482917ad42bc8a6b6afb51293f89.cubs_lee_baseball_iacn101.jpg gah...i should have gone to the game. i could have easily knocked those kids down...
  19. until pagan (whose reputation with dusty/hendry seems to have inexplicably reached savior status) comes back. his return is the most hyped return for a .570 OPS fifth outfielder that i've ever seen.
  20. should be a close finish w/ raw and nsbb today too. two nsbb starts vs. none for raw. wow, i just realized that i'm tied for the highest score of the week...my team was terrible until thursday. scoring's down across the board.
  21. i agree...hill's getting screwed. but i'd still rather see guzman out there than marmol. if they could just dump maddux on someone or send marshall down to limit his innings, maybe then hill could crack the rotation.
  22. yeah, my starting pitching has been good for once...and i even left harang's 30 point shutout on the bench.
