  1. ok, so i'm assuming everyone's putting all their players on waivers?
  2. which is exactly what you're doing for the offense. hill has not been good in his starts, but baker seems to want to completely blame him for those four losses, when, in fact, zambrano probably would be 0-4 in those games. of course, this is the guy who gave maddux credit the other night when he got banged around just as bad as hill did because maddux got the win (thanks to a bunch of offense), so i shouldn't be surprised. What does the offense have to do with Hill being terrible? nothing. but it has a lot to do w/ the team being 0-4 in his starts...a fact obviously lost on dusty.
  3. unfortunately, i agree. his offense might actually be tolerable as a cf.

  5. I sincerely doubt that. We were playing good baseball in April before Lee went down, and we didn't have Prior and Wood then. I think if everybody had been healthy, we'd been in the race. If the more likely option of just Prior and Wood on the DL, then we'd be around .500 right now. there is no way one guy makes up 22 games in the win column, which is essentially what you're saying would happen if just wood and prior were on the DL.
  6. who cares whether those players are comparable to the guys the cubs have lost? even if the cubs had an entirely healthy team (which, of course, never happens), they'd still be below .500, which is pathetic. think about how sad that is...a completely healthy team with a 95 mil payroll would likely be under .500.
  7. i sometimes forget that the cubs have scored ONE run combined in hill's four starts. yeah, dusty, it's all hill's fault.
  8. what can you say? rusch is a guy who seizes opportunities.
  9. and burning bulbs are off to a ridiculous start... 24-69, 7 hr, 22 rbi
  10. the cubs give people their opportunities, but they have to seize them. clearly, novoa has seized his opportunity.
  11. i can't believe people actually believe he was fired for giving a girl one innocent hug.
  12. In '04' The Cubs were well over .500. well, i guess that refutes their point even more. :D
  13. wow, jones has 12 walks on the season...are you kidding me?
  14. yeah, because i'm sure reynolds' story about it just being a hug is 100% accurate.
  15. i remember at the end of '04 when the 'the cubs hit too many homeruns' hysteria was at its peak. fox flashed a graphic of the five teams that scored the highest % of runs via the hr (as if to say it was a bad thing)...and every team, except the cubs, was well over .500 and in the playoff hunt.
  16. I'd like to see Prior be forced to pitch the next 500 innings or until his arms, legs and head fall off. you must not have been around in '03. they tried that.
  17. yeah...i'm gonna need cbs to add the points that harang and clemens scored last night...
  18. pagan should really never start.
  19. i'd be more surprised if he said it about somebody who he wasn't trying to rationalize benching. this is the guy that limited cedeno's PT because his throws tailed funny. i'm not so sure he wouldn't say anything to get neifster out there.
  20. yeah, i'll have paps, street, fielder and martin to keep points free. not a ton, but better than nothing. i could have enough room for four of lee, aj, vlad, soriano, tejada, teix, sheets, etc. you'll have some competition for those trades this year, my friend.
  21. that must have been some hug.
  22. dusty, is that you? i'm actually shocked cedeno hasn't been benched already.
  23. benched bush, who went from being a top 30 SP to the brewers mop up guy...he won't get his scheduled start this week. put sheets, who was activated from the DL, into the lineup.
  24. i'm not trying to turn this into another hill debate. i was focusing more on the "we don't make snap judgments" line, which is exactly opposite the truth.
