    Yep...playing time for younger guys to see what you have, instead of playing older guys because they're your "horses". I don't buy that argument. Dusty has been playing the "younger guys" to see what they have. Unfortunately, they were not quite ready to be played. i'd say marmol and marshall have given prior, wood, maddux and rusch a run for their money, production-wise. Hill and Guzman gave Rusch a run for his money. ok, you take rusch, i'll take hill and guzman and whoever has a more productive hand five years from now gets $50 cyber bucks. my point is, it's foolish for dusty to continue throwing the kids under the bus when marshall and marmol, who have been far from spectacular, have been no worse than prior, maddux or rusch.

    if z and prior go on the DL and maddux gets traded, the cubs are certainly going to have an interesting rotation for the rest of '06...probably rusch and four rookies.

    wow, baker is going to be in top excuse-making form if prior and z both miss starts. a rotation with maddux, marshall, marmol, guzman and hill??? oh, the humanity! he'll get rusch in there somewhere...

    eh, papelbon blew a save and you still have ensberg and pujols to go. i was hoping to get it this week too...haven't won a week all year. blown save for timlin gives alamo a chance! now watch vazquez get a 12 inning win in relief or something and i'll end up losing...

    oddly enough, it didn't bother me much last week when alamo stealth's lineup featured 2 guys on the DL, one RP, and brad "0 for june" ausmus over posada. but now that they're w/in 10 points of the team one game ahead of me in the standings, i find it a bit irksome. i could use an alamo comeback and some really, really bad pitching from HBC's remaining two starters.

    there's no room on this team? yeah, the squad is just filled to the brim with such productive players (as evidenced by the stellar record) that we just can't squeeze a youngster onto the roster. argh, the agony of being such a good team.

    i don't understand why everyone's arguing over who they want in return for maddux...they could have him for all i care. the only thing i'm concerned about is getting guzman/hill into the rotation.

    ho hum...another seven inning, k per inning, 1-2 hit allowed gem from hill. should have gone to watch him tonight instead of watching the big league club flail about hopelessly in milwaukee...

    of course, baker doesn't think it's the hitting or the pitching...it's clutchness. argh...the whole season's down the toilet and the cubs are 8 gagillion under .500 all because of the lack of those pesky two out hits.

    here's a shocker...hendry doesn't believe that it's anyone's fault that corey sucked in chicago and is good in baltimore... fits right in w/ the organization's "it's out of our hands" mystical, karma-fueled, bad break-ridden excuse factory.
