    i find it really hard to believe that the cubs went into this game with marmol, ohman, and howry unavailable/not expected to be used. not even the cubs are so incompetent as to go into a game (w/ a crappy starter on the mound, nonetheless) with FOUR unavailable relievers.

    Given that he is a converted infielder, shouldn't it help that he has less mileage on his arm? Depends on how you look at it. Some players are able to convert into becoming a pitcher and some end of blowing out their arms trying to. Im not going to go into the mechanical side of it because the majority of the people would not understand it. so you're saying that some pitchers blow out their arms and some don't? fantastic analysis. and if by "not understand it" you mean mock you relentlessly, then, yeah, we wouldn't understand.

    I also had the strongest minors the past few years, giving me a leg up on winning this championship! :) i was surprised you didn't make more moves using that sparkling farm system of yours last season.

    tim definitely has a leg up on winning the minor league roster potential portion of the league. and the league championship in 2012.

    Assuming I'm wrong on the Nomar transaction, what about this one that I also mentioned. There was nothing wrong with Huff. If you say this one is okay as well, then apparently we are allowed to make daily transactions. i agree...that move is not allowed.

    he's up to .258/.350/.475. where as his may was an awful .205/.316/.361, he's at .312/.391/.636 in june. he's managed to increase his walk rate each of the last three years to a respectable 12.1% this year, while decreasing his K rate by 7.3%. i'm not sayin', i'm just sayin'. i'm not saying he sucks, i'm just saying i wouldn't trade hill for him.

    ok. hoops said the cubs were alarmed by marshall and hill's recent poor outings. they both pitched great their next time out. lilly was bad his last time out, and marquis has been bad of late. i suggested that the cubs be alarmed about those guys too if they're going to let one start by marshall/hill bother them.

    What has Lilly done wrong? Ranks 2nd in WHIP, 10th in K's. 3.90 ERA... Tough crowd around here. what had hill and marshall done wrong? and lilly wasn't very good his last time out.

    maybe marquis and lilly should be "under some scrutiny" in their next starts. hill and marshall look ok to me.

    I disagree. I've always been under the impression a guy had to go on the DL before you could replace him with someone not on your roster. well, i'm 99% sure that's not the case.
