  1. at least if the cubs had signed drew or giles instead of soriano they'd have some extra $ to blow...probably on a middle reliever coming off his first good season, but still...
  2. man, that would have been a good time to pinch hit their rh power bat off the bench. oh wait, they don't have one because this is the worst constructed team 100 mil ever built.
  3. [wild guess]Torn labrum and he's lost for the season, Philly fans will bombard Manuel for his downfall just like they did Dusty for that of Wood, Prior, and to a lesser degree Zambrano.[/wild guess] and manuel would deserve it just as much as baker did.
  4. To be honest, they were always around. Sucky Cubs just happen to be better than the Suckier Pirates and Suckiest Nationals. Not last year If last years team was an F, this one is a D+ at best. hendry would call that progress. next thing you know we'll be "competing within the division!"
  5. wow, this team is bad. at least they don't have a bunch of money invested in long term contracts for mediocre players.
  6. i predict a one arm swing at an outside changeup.
  7. ph for a guy who sucks with a guy who sucks maybe a little less.
  8. Here are your choices, also note that 6 of these guys are starters. Your GM is looking for a Closer, but so are half a dozen other teams and its April, so no one wants to really deal big pieces yet. Do you pick Myers and hope for Dempster/Eckersley or do you go with the 6 finger wonderkin and run or demote a starter to long relief. If you do which starter sits? 57 Alfonseca, Antonio 52 Castro, Fabio 55 Condrey, Clay 23 Eaton, Adam 34 García, Freddy 56 Geary, Geoff 35 Hamels, Cole 44 Hernández, Yoel 21 Lieber, Jon 50 Moyer, Jamie 39 Myers, Brett 54 Rosario, Francisco So it's better to get 75 innings from Myers than 200? Maybe it is. Unless you are the Great Kreskin, I don't see how you can so easily dismiss this possibility. Which would you rather have? (These stats are both for the same guy, btw.) 200 IP, 1.213 WHIP, 3.71 ERA, 5.8 K/9 OR 70 IP, .998 WHIP, 2.85 ERA, 8.8 K/9 Give me the second line, because this particular pitcher, while effective in the first role, is dominant in the second. I'm not suggesting that Myers is a dominant closer, but all his numbers are better as a reliever than as a starter. His WHIP, ERA, BAA, and K/9 have all improved- some of them significantly- since his move to the pen. which spans all of a month...and may have ended tonight with an arm injury. other than that, you're all over it.

i'm happy to say that he was all mine during the brief period of time when he was one of the worst pitchers in baseball. got him right after he was really, really good and lost him right before he got really, really good again. the cubs suck, by the way.
  10. move looks faaaaaantastic right now.

i hope myers arm is broken because it couldn't take the move to the pen (not really, he's been pretty good for me lately) and they run charlie manuel's dumb [expletive] ass out of town for the stupid decision to make him a reliever.

holy [expletive]...on the next pitch myers throws one four feet outside and starts holding his arm. the only thing missing is someone assassinating cole hamels from the stands.

my goodness, what a collapse by the phillies. now they have hanley dead to rights by 20 feet at home plate and barajas blocks the plate like the littlest bitch i've ever seen. he practically tucked his dick between his legs, put on a dress, poured himself a cosmo and ran back to the dugout. i've seen one of the dumbest plays ever and one of the most cowardly plays ever this inning. i can only imagine what phillies message boards are like right now...

    Week 8

wow...7-5 phils, marlins batting, runner at 3rd, no outs, ninth inning. hanley tries to bunt for a hit, but bunts it real hard toward first. the [expletive] philly 1b throws HOME. the guy easily scores standing up, and the tying run reaches 1b. that's about as dumb a play as i've ever seen.
  15. probably just a day off-he had started 9 games in a row prior to this-that's the longest streak of consecutive games started by anyone in the lineup except the big 3 (Lee, Ramirez, Soriano). It was coming one of these days that he'd get a day off. he should get a day off against a rhp. izturis shouldn't play against lefties.
  16. Jesus, this is getting annoying. He didn't suck? No he didn't. Losing a fly ball and making a bad throw doesn't mean you suck in the field. Murton is averageish in RF. Maybe you missed everybody and their mother taking the extra base on his arm. That's not "average" for RF. and of course you have no evidence of this 'cept that you saw it a bunch, right?
  17. nothing like outhitting the opponent by two and getting outscored by four. cubs left seven on in the last three innings...hard to do.
  18. if he pitches this well after one demotion, imagine what he'd do if they sent him to AA. crazy like a fox, that piniella.
  19. at least he had a few k's. every mistake he made got jacked out of the yard. the two walks to start the game were obnoxious, but at least he didn't have any the rest of the way. i think he'll have a good one next time out...provided the cubs don't move him into long relief and put miller (because jimmy promised he would) or dempster (he really wants to start!) into the rotation, which wouldn't surprise me.
  20. charlie manuel told me it's the number of days he pitches, not the innings, that matters. and he wouldn't have pitched today had he been a starter, so there.
  21. and our rotation is so good we don't even need him there...an embarrassment of riches!
  22. wow, guzman looked great...thank goodness he was moved to the pen to pitch those ever-important mop up innings in lopsided losses.

there's nothing worse than having the cubs play like [expletive] AND having a pitcher on your fantasy team be the reason. with the new pitcher-friendly point system, hill's looking at about -15.
