  1. according to RS/RA, the cubs should be 18-11 (.621 ball) and the brewers should be 19-12 (.613 ball). however, the cubs are 15-14 and the brewers are 21-10. if the brewers play .613 ball the rest of the way, the will end up with 101 wins. if the cubs play .621 ball the rest of the way, they will have 97 wins. so even if the cubs' luck evens out to their expected winning % and the brewers' luck brings them down to their expected winning %, the cubs will still finish behind the brewers (though i certainly wouldn't complain with 97 wins)...assuming i did the math right.
  2. i didn't say it couldn't.
  3. neither team's history means anything. i was responding to people who seem to be saying "oh they're the brewers, they'll blow it" as if the cubs have some kind of rich history of winning titles.
  4. because they aren't? really? because the standings say otherwise. unfortunately, the division winner is determined by the standings and not a position by position >/= contest. the brewers are going to have to completely collapse or suffer some serious injuries for them not to be in contention all season. are you implying that baseball standings after a month and some change is an accurate rating system? that's not like you, dog. everyone wants to look at RS/RA, which is fine...the cubs should have a better record. but they don't, and those losses are in the past. it may show that the cubs can play up the level of the brewers the rest of the season, but the losses that happened (whether they mathematically should have or not) can't be changed. even if the cubs improve and brewers get worse starting from this date, the cubs are still in a five game hole. It's May 7th. Man I don't think anyone has came from 5 back with 130 to play. But go ahead and break your own arm patting yourself on the back about the Brewers being a good team, at least that way it will be a change from your gloating about how you knew Rich Hill was great. seriously dude, can you point to a recent post of mine where i gloat about being right about rich hill? because i'm damn positive that people talk about how i brag about being right about rich hill far more than i actually brag about being right about rich hill. and i never said the cubs couldn't come back from five games out. that's stupid. i don't know why you cool aid drinking cub fans continue to assume that the teams ahead of the cubs will fall back and the cubs will surge forward...have you not followed the cubs for say, the last 100 years? if think the brewers are a losing franchise that doesn't deserve to win the division, what do you call the cubs?
  5. i don't understand why it's a big deal if the cubs have three lefties in the rotation. teams have 4-5 righties in the rotation all the time and no one says anything about it.

  7. I'm still shopping Dye, but I don't know what you're looking for. I would mention Atkins, but abuck might hurt me. Dye had a cheap asking price last night, just ask HBC. you're not allowed to trade atkins to anyone but me.

  9. why are people having such a hard time admitting that the brewers are better than the cubs?
  10. lou just has to butcher substitutions nine more times for me to have a top flight 2b!
  11. clemens and pettitte are mlb's most adorable couple. you would have been better off having clemens return to houston to mow down the nl central.
  12. nevermind...fielder may be hotter. but don't worry, cubs fans, the brewers aren't very good.
  13. up 35 going into sunday...one start for each team. i'm half-tempted to bank on a 35 point cushion being enough and just sit sheets to prevent the possibility of a -12 point outing. for the fourth time in five weeks, the sunday night game is likely going to determine whether i win or lose.
  14. That sounds like a weird statement to make. We could have 9 fielders that are all really bad, is that good too? Just because one position seems to have a poor fielder doesn't mean we should go all out and field the worst defensive team we can. not as weird as implying that if you have a bad defensive c/2b/ss, you need a good defensive cf...as if his defense is going to lessen the crappiness of the catcher's defense. i'm sure what he was getting at was the notion of strong defense up the middle, which couldn't be more ridiculous.
  15. your after-the-fact prediction success rate is alarmingly high.
  16. keep telling yourself that.
  17. + = let's do this!
  18. jj hardy -- best player in baseball right now? wow. whew, only five innings for johan, and the brewers are knocking capps around. and then capps gets ejected for drilling fielder.
  19. In the immortal words of Nancy Reagan, "Just say no!" what are the chances it would backfire again? i don't care if the red sox score off johan (i assumed they wouldn't)...just take enough pitches so he can only last six innings.
  20. i could use a 3b.
  21. How long is that going to last? It's like the new towel joke. until everyone that trashed hill gives me five dollars.
  22. i don't understand why it's important to have a good defensive cf when you have a bad defensive catcher. that makes no sense.
  23. LMAO! You're just pissed because of your over abundance of closers now in RK... haha! Agreed though, Myers should be in the rotation. i don't mind having a bunch of closers...it's worked out pretty well for me so far. it's the losing the starter part that stings.
  24. i've got more closers. third time's the charm?
  25. no wang in the lineup???
