  1. damn it, i can't make up any ground...teix homers and then wright hits a three run shot. i may be headed to 2-3.
  2. if your two choices are 1) 200 innings from julian tavarez and 70 innings from papelbon or 2) 200 innings from papelbon and 70 from julian taverez, which would you choose? Thank goodness I don't watch ESPN anymore. Is it really sound analysis to assume Papelbon would be as good as a starter throwing 200 IP as he is throwing 70 relief innings? I don't think so. fine. would you rather have 70 awesome innings from papelbon or 200 very good innings from papelbon? Is it really that simple? I don't think so. then what's your take on it?
  3. i got EI recently, and it's kinda annoying to watch the games with your guys in it. sometimes it's just easier to check box scores at the end of the day.

  5. HEY TAKE TONIGHT OFF TOO! i hope the red sox lose and fenway burns down tonight.
  6. jones is going to out-produce pie this year...i don't know why the cubs are doing this.
  7. i wish the cubs' biggest weakness was team defense.
  8. i don't like that walks are only -.25 for pitchers and singles are -1. just thought i'd throw that in. :D
  9. geez...all i need to make today a complete disaster is a three homer game from hawpe and cordero to have his arms eaten off by a shark. hope papelbon and nathan don't blow saves on consecutive nights very often this year... my infield may need an overhaul...1/2 point on the week combined. and tim drew has scored more points this week than his sisters jd and stephen have combined.
  10. hey papelbon, you pitched so well last night, go ahead and take tonight off.
  11. it's amazing to me how people continue to look down upon other teams like the brewers and the pirates. last i checked, the brewers are comfortably ahead of the cubs, and the pirates have the same record as the cubs. not to mention the fact that the cubs were the worst team in the NL last year (behind both the brewers and the pirates...and everyone else) and weren't so hot the year before that. does all the cubs' money trick people into thinking the cubs are some type of elite team or what?
  12. i think it's been established that the cubs are the expected runs scored/runs against champs. and while i'm certainly proud of them, and it does give hope for the future, it doesn't change the fact that the entire month of april (regardless of what their record should have been) was a disaster, and they're going to have to dig themselves out of a decent-sized hole.
  13. damn...almost soriano's third homer in the last 12 hours. still, he's about to go on a bender. so much for that 50 point lead i had...
  14. classy or not, it's not very funny...or timely. surprised we didn't get a sammy sosa corked bat joke in there.
  15. heh...wright and soriano homer for the first time on the same day.
  16. Their lineup to date is better than the Cubs. I just don't think they are running away with the div., which I loosely define as being 10 games up on Sept. 1. They very well could win it, however. Will it continue to be so once Soriano starts to hit? Having gotten nothing from Soriano, the Brewers have still only scored 5 more runs than the Cubs - 117-112. and will hill, lilly and marquis continue to be three of the best pitchers in the NL? Will Z continue to suck? Will our 5 starter spot continue to put up a 10+ ERA? probably not. so hill, lilly and marquis regress and z and 5th starter improve...probably evens out. which brings the cubs to where they are right now, which is a lot of games behind the brewers.

  18. papelbon for starter. i can't believe all the stuff about how boston made such a great decision moving him back to closer...he's thrown like eight innings all year. i fail to see how that's better than having him throw 35. Seriously. I couldn't believe the love the media was giving the Red Sox for making Papelbon lose 125 innings this season. it's not like they were just praising the red sox for making the decision...they were also mocking them for even thinking about making him start. for example... if your two choices are 1) 200 innings from julian tavarez and 70 innings from papelbon or 2) 200 innings from papelbon and 70 from julian taverez, which would you choose?
  19. all of the sudden my bullpen sucks. did the drews have a family reunion tonight or something? neither one of them played.

  21. nice 0-2 pitch, papelbon. this is not the week for him to pitch like crap.
  22. don't worry...the cubs' run differential is AWESOME.
  23. the cubs are only team in the NL that hasn't solved duke and paulino.
