  1. Yes, we're all glad to see the Cubs losing by an additional run. i don't think it matters. and in the battle between sosa and hendry, i'll take sosa every time.
  2. though i'm not so sure the theme from the natural is fitting. you suck, marquis.
  3. seriously, baseball players are such superstituous babies. zambrano can't throw to barrett, soriano can't not hit leadoff. cripes, you throw at gloves and swing bats...talk about making a simple game a billion times more complicated.
  4. marquis pitching from the stretch to get ready for the rest of the season.
  5. wow, derosa pinch hit for? the cubs are taking this defense thing seriously.
  6. good job by koyie to limit the damage. Dude, the joke isn't funny when you use it 80 times in 10 minutes. if i were going to have someone police my comedy, it certainly wouldn't be you.
  7. And it had nothing at all to do with the fact that Marquis walked the first two batters then gave up a hit. No, it was all DeRosa's fault. no that was barrett's fault.
  8. jason boned himself by walking the first two batters. it's thinking like your's that led to barrett being enemy #1. good job by koyie to limit the damage.
  9. koyie's catcher obp is at a terrible 1.000 so far.
  10. wow, playing for one run in arlington against a pitcher with a 6 era and a struggling marquis on the mound. good stuff. at least the cubs' defense behind the plate was solid that inning.
  11. my goodness, it's a guy squatting in a stationary position with a glove. it's not like the catcher is a wr running timing routes. time for me to take a break from this thread.
  12. it'll be interesting to see how barrett effects the best staff in the league. poor peavy is just going to fall apart with the destructive force that is barrett's game calling.
  13. all good points. i don't hate the trade as much as i did when i first heard about it. i just dislike it now.
  14. has hendry re-decided he likes guys who can catch the ball?
  15. Dontrelle Willis was a successful low level prospect when they traded him away. The guy the Cubs got has been awful in rookie ball and low A ball. Point taken, but if you believe as I do, that the Cubs should be sellers and our next chance to make a solid run at the division will be 2009, the trade makes sense. Getting anything is better than getting nothing for a guy that isn't a part of the Cubs long term plans anyway. I think the Cubs can and should make a solid run at the division in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Amen. This team is still in the hunt now. Wait until they get Soriano, Lee and Ramirez playing together without suspension or injuries looming. The bullpen looks better of late. The Cubs also have the trade pieces and payroll flexibility to make major moves. They're on pace for a 20 game improvement. I wouldn't mortgage the future OR hold a complete fire sale. This team is a quality SS away from being one of the top 3 teams in the league. now that's some optimism.
  16. i love that people are criticizing barrett's "game calling." as if, 1) they know anything about how to call a game and can tell that barrett's doing a poor job of it and 2) pitchers don't have the ability to shake him off.
  17. Because he blamed Barrett in the past. Oh wait...He didn't. you're right. i'm confusing the "thank you for doing such a good job" punch in the face with blaming barrett.
  18. uh oh, now zambrano's gonna have to come up with another excuse when he sucks.
  19. i'd really love to hear a rundown of all the runs barrett's baserunning and defense have cost the cubs. it's like one every month or something. everyone just remembers them when they happen. cleansing the clubhouse worked so well after 2004, so yay for this stupid trade.
  20. worst travesty since the holocaust? probably.
