thank goodness i got to hear stephen a. smith's patented everyone is racist self-promotion last night on espn. i was dying to hear what he had to say on the subject.
i haven't doubted your ability to correctly pick the 5th place finisher in the NL cy young race since you so shrewdly pegged don gullett for 5th in 1975.
i was fine with arguing for rich hill's greatness before he was great, but i didn't think i'd have to continue arguing for it after he became great. i'd say you're being fairly liberal with the use of "great" here, and you know i'm one of rich's biggest fans on this board yeah, i was joking. though he was probably a top 15-20 starter in the NL...and that's w/o factoring in how cheap he is.
instead of trading arguably our most valuable pitcher to fill the OF hole, how about just signing someone to play the OF? that way we won't have a gaping hole in the rotation.
exactly. fukudome + hill would be better and cheaper than trading for tejada and trading/signing a SP to take hill's spot. We can trade for Tejada without including Hill. I'm absolutely certain of that. i think you're probably right.
Because they pay for garbage. Just because you spend money doesn't mean you will win. really? thanks for the econ lesson. i would say "i wish my team would spend money wisely," not "i wish my team would spend less money." if they spend less, but still spend it foolishly, you're a lot worse off than if they spend a lot foolishly.
that's fantastic news! now that i know the cubs have more guys (that's plural!) that will be in the top 10 in the NL in whip, k/9, h/9, k's, k/bb, i feel much better about the team's future.
