  1. I do not understand why total points scored matters that much? This is a HEAD to HEAD league. You look to be just trying to find something else to bitch about as usual. you realize you bitch about me bitching far more than i actually bitch, right? don't do the thing brian does where everything i say turns into me being an [expletive]. i haven't been anything but civil in this entire thread.
  2. also, with tootie losing this week, there is a chance of a 3 way tie for 2nd/3rd place. and if RWD would have scored a few less points in his game last week, there would have been the possibility that i could have finished with the most points of the 3 teams tied, but been left out of the playoffs. that seems like a pretty obvious flaw.
  3. i'll also point out that the unbalanced schedule makes using h2h as the first tiebreaker even dumber.
  4. and maybe the team with fewer points just had TWO huge weeks and they happen to come in the weeks they were playing the better team.
  5. ugh, this is going nowhere. the team with the most points is the best team. it's math. i don't really understand the inability to comprehend this.
  6. I think between two teams the first tiebreaker should be H2H and the second tiebreaker should be totals points in their matchups against each other. In three way ties go H2H if you can then go with total points. If H2H isn't your first tiebreaker then there really isn't any point of having a H2H league. this line of thinking makes no sense to me. it's a h2h league because we play each other every week. it's just as much a "points" league since that's how you win head to head matchups. So then what's the point? If it was a points league then the standings would be based on points, not record on H2H matchups. How can you call it a "win" in a H2H matchup if at the end of the season you throw that out and say even though you won the H2H matchup it doesn't count because your opponent that you are tied with scored more points during the entire season? To me, that makes no sense. and you don't "throw out" the win from the head to head matchup obviously. it still determines the standings. i just think it would be kind of silly for a team that outscores another by 700 points on the season or something to miss out on the playoffs because an inferior team luckily happened to have good weeks in 2 random weeks.
  7. while i think it's dumb, i don't have a huge problem with h2h being the first tiebreaker. it's very stupid, however, for division record to even be a factor.
  8. i like how much of the analysis is "he hit ___ homers last year, he's only hit ___ this year. LAZY."

  10. first of all, i think 15 points a week seems like kind of a lot. secondly, there actually is a perfect way to determine who the better team is...it's total points. is that really so crazy? if team A scores more points than team B over the course of a season, team A is better. really couldn't be much clearer. and i don't really know what throwing out the 2 highest and 2 lowest weeks would prove. I agree 15 is a lot but 1.7 isn't and should not be enough to consider 1 team better than the other. yeah, it is. it's like the very definition of one team being better than the other. yes. because that team has more points. yes, it is quite true. again, by definition.
  11. one more thing...while i like the h2h format, it's not really your players against his players. i can't control (and neither can my players) what my opponents' players do. that's why this different than real sports. if the cubs beat the cardinals 8 times out of 10 and they end up tied, then yeah, maybe the cubs should get it because the cardinals had their chance to face the cubs team vs. team and lost. it's not the same in fantasy sports. it's not my team's "fault" the other guy had a good week.

  13. but then again, lots of stuff seems like common sense to me in this league and everyone thinks i'm a maniac. so either i'm insane or this board represents a tiny pocket of my own personal twilight zone.
  14. If we went by who had the best team and scored the most overall points, I'd have a lot more than one championship. Downside of a head to head league. obviously. i have no problem with the h2h format, and i realize the playoffs are, like real sports, a bit of a crap shoot. my biggest gripe with the format is using h2h or, even worse, division record as a tie breaker. if two teams have the same record, the better team (the team with more points) should get in. the inferior team who happened to get lucky the two weeks the teams faced each other shouldn't get in just based on those two random weeks. seems like common sense to me.
  15. and one of us is going to be left out despite being in the top 3 in the entire league in points.
  16. i keep forgetting you're the guy that thinks every 27 year old having a good season at AAA would be a productive major leaguer.
  17. You actually gained yesterday and have a 2 start advantage on me with two very risky starts left. Go Sox! yeah, i was not anticipating 30 pts out of lincecum after his 27 pitch, 3 bb first inning. ogando is almost a guarantee for negative points tonight...he doesn't have the benefit of facing pawtucket like wilson did on monday.
  18. 8 hr and a 1.58 era and i'm getting my ass kicked. fun.
  19. gonna be hard to catch up when your pitchers don't give up any runs.
  20. lol, so much for tough matchups. kershaw, wilson and beckett give up a combined ONE run to three of the best offenses in baseball. [expletive] sucking mother [expletive] ONE. i kinda expect stauffer to give up -4 runs tonight to the shitty giants.
  21. i would also enjoy kershaw facing a holliday-less cardinal lineup due to a moth flying in holliday's ear last night.
  22. losing two starts from kennedy because of a [expletive] earthquake would be a fitting end to my season.
  23. I'm not thrilled about it due to the pitching matchups you'd have next week vs me and the fact that you've beaten me twice already this year. kershaw is going to score 6 million points next week. i should have pretty good matchups next week if i somehow win this week.
  24. was not expecting a 30 point start by wilson against the red sox, that's for sure. not looking forward to kershaw's start tonight. i think my offense is better (hasn't shown it so far), especially with youk out, so it's going to have to make up some ground for me. can't believe i have the best offense in the league...doesn't seem like it's all that great.
  25. not looking good for me. that unbalanced schedule looks like it's going to [expletive] me.
