  1. honestly, just allowing us to do whatever we wanted with our rosters, whenever we wanted (as long as they remained legal, obviously), would eliminate like 98% of the arguments and remove all the thousands of exemptions/interpretations.
  2. yes, you definitely can't do this under the current rules.* *though i would be in favor of changing the current rules to allow whatever daily roster changes you want to make...would make keeping up with all this stuff a million times easier.
  3. this didn't effect the outcome of my game last week, but KR put brett myers in after the week had started...the "do anything you want to get 7 starts" does NOT apply to relief pitchers, correct? in other words, relievers have to be in your lineup by the start of the week, right?
  4. looks like you dropped a bunch of guys the afternoon of 3/28. the japan game had already been played by that point.
  5. i certainly wasn't blown away by rice when i saw him.
  6. it was all the extra guys you had on your bench. yes.
  7. so is rayvonte rice going to transfer to illinois?
  8. Thanks for volunteering..can you add RP to Brett Myers so I can add him as a RP? I thought we agreed to abide by the eligibility rules. When he becomes eligible as a RP, then he'll be eligible. we can't do this. you can't render brett myers a literally unusable player until he meets the RP criteria. that makes no sense. No, you do this. Perfectly reasonable approach with less interpretation and fewer arguments. yeah, that's fine with me.
  9. ackley only scored 9.75 in game 1.
  10. and, as i've said before, there wouldn't be melodrama if we didn't have the attitude of "follow some rules, don't follow others." i mean, i'm not trying to be an ahole...but that's literally what we do. i understand we're forgiving and what not, but it's obviously going to lead to disputes when some rules are enforced and some aren't. i play in a yahoo keeper league where the rules are just the rules and there has never been a single argument. if a guy hasn't met the eligibility for 3b, he can't be your 3b. if you have an illegal roster, your roster is illegal. i'm all for whatever changes make the rules a) simpler and b) less open to interpretation/breaking/forgiveness.

  12. I think we need to clarify that this isn't illegal. We have enough confusion in this league without calling legal rosters illegal just bc you have some starting player spots empty. this is not illegal. so what's your problem!!?!?!? i don't have a problem. there's a difference between a) having 19 guys on your roster but having 3+ on the bench to manage your seven starts and b) having 27 guys on your roster with 8 guys on your bench just because. if you've used 5 starts for the week and you have 5 starting pitchers scheduled to start on sunday, you will have to overstock your bench to avoid going over the 7 start limit. i have no problem with that and it's perfectly legal.
  13. yeah, me too. obviously extra bench players will not have an effect on your score since they are, you know, on the bench. Its really hard to believe the two of you don't understand the difference between two games 10 days before the regular season starts and regular weeks. those games count, don't they? there was a thread started that was titled "Legal Rosters by 3/28," right? don't see why this is so confusing.

  16. so is there a commissioner of this league or what?
  17. well, that certainly doesn't seem like a good system. tootielicious and rodelo were both illegal for game 1 and got points.
  18. so the teams that had illegal rosters for the first japan games originally had the points they earned in those games taken away. now it looks like those points were given back. what's up?
  19. They weren't protesting the hiring, but they still have connections to the programs and heard about it. So smart. Do you test at high levels? Now go talk about your opinions on movies, because opinions can't be wrong. I mean if you aren't busy practicing law yet. Wait, abuck is going to be a lawyer? If so his posts make a lot more sense to me now. He's so smart it has to be either lawyer or doctor. you don't have to be smart to be a lawyer, it's just a bonus for abuck exactly. my considerable intelligence is a huge advantage in the field.
  20. let me just say i am not surprised illiniguy is friends with people who were actually physically protesting weber's hiring.
  21. drunk on moonshine and couch burnin'.
  22. it is truly a great day for illini fans to look down their noses at national runner-up kansas.
  23. i'd rather lose trying to win our 4th championship than sit at home and try to talk myself into the Groce hire. just ran the numbers and this loss moves the illini job ahead of the ku job. man when it rains it pours. They'll have their pick of the Big Sun now. oops, anthony davis (he is good) is from chicago (which is in the same state as illinois), ergo illinois moves up another spot. now ahead of duke.

  25. ok, but when we say "three strike" rule, we really mean "two strikes," right? 1st offense: lose your last in time start. 2nd offense: lose your best start.
