  1. Is Brett Gardner really the fastest person in the minors? My dad(Yankee's fan) said BA ranked him as such.
  2. Bye Bye, Cedeno. Good riddance. not a CedenoFan? Do I have a reason to be?
  3. Bye Bye, Cedeno. Good riddance.
  4. And, when Sori is back, keep Theriot in the lead off spot.
  5. The Cubs will be blanked, bank on it.
  6. Hope? Yes. High hopes? Not realistic ones. Sure I hope like heck he turns into a Jonny Damon circa 98-06 (although he'll never match that K/BB ratio), but I fear he might be no better than Mark Kotsay at the top end, pretty good for 3-4 years but largely unimpressive the rest of the time. And even that is a stretch at this point. Kotsay spent less than 1.5 years in the minors and blew away what Colvin is doing right now. As a largely unproductive nearly 22 year old minor leaguer with an atrocious K/BB ratio, my realistic hope is that he gives the Cubs 6 cost effective, but mediocre years in CF (or helps them acquire an impact bat via trade). But as a still young guy, I do maintain some far reaching hope that he can do more than that. Thanks, I don't know much about him.
  7. They said we can but I don't know how to do it. I have a XP compaq.
  8. Who was fastest overall in the minors, Gardner?
  9. Raisin, isn't Samardzija supposed to start?
  10. Does anyone else have high hopes for Tyer Colvin?
  11. Let's face it, Dusty and Joe Morgan are idiots. So is Lou Piniella.
  12. Your mom would. Oh, snap! :lmao:
  13. Use more bandwidth or not, the new version of phpbb will provide the community with a better experience, so I'll upgrade this software when the released version of that product is available. that does mean search will return to nsbb. Thank you Tim!!
  14. I have no idea what you're talking about. Murton put up a better than league average OPS last season at 24. This year he's been yanked all over the lineup so that Cliff Frickin Floyd could get more ABs. He's proven that he can get the job done already - look at his numbers over his 700+ career ABs. If the Cubs determine Murton's value based solely on his performance in the next few weeks...actually, that would be about as dumb as I would expect Hendry and Lou to be. When did Murton get kid gloves? This is such a BS statement. Kid gloves would mean allowing your 25 year old player that's had some success in the minors and the majors play through a slump early and not jerk him around. But they forced him to learn a new position at the major league level and never gave him consistent starts. Meanwhile, our huge FA acquisition can only hit in 1 spot in the order, even when we could really use his SLG lower in the order, and can play only the easiest defensive position, even though we really could use him in RF, or else he (or at least, everyone thinks he) will totally suck. Kid gloves? Soriano's getting infant glove treatment over here. We're in a pennant race, it's time to start taking one for the team...that is...as soon as you get off the DL. I really don't think Soriano is all that good of a hitter, he never blew the world away with this ability to hit for contact. And was always a poor fielder. Mind you I think Murton is actually a better hitter, in a year or two. And Sori's fielding is brutal at times, and others it seems terrific.
  15. I'll be at Saturday's game, but I can't drink.
  16. He has to be given access to the bathroom first. Murton is not allowed acess to anything. I've made up my mind, Murton pissed in Lou's cheerios. Maybe he thought Lou was into that kind of thing. well, Lou did call him adorable. Murton was just trying to get playing time.
  17. As long as further notice is 2 seconds later when you replace Floyd or Jones with Murton. I think the Cubs also need to start working in more off days for DeRosa. He's been brutal since June. They have him playing all over the field, and he's appeared in more games than every position player besides Soriano. There's no reason why DeRosa should be mixing into the OF mix at this point. Let him start at 2B, or at 3B when Ramirez sits. When Fontenot plays, then Mark can go to the bench. I completely forgot about Murton. Obviously, I'd want him to play a lot. Won't happen. I'm convinced.

  19. Somehow I knew anything regarding a trade would involve Vance showing up with his Dunn campaign.
  20. Ouch! :!: Lou needs to take a deep breath, consult with Hendry, and use this lineup: Theriot Murton Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Soto Pie Not that there was any excuse before tonight, but without Soriano we can't possibly expect to contend using Kendall, Hill, Jones and Pagan as often as we do. For some reason I like that lineup better than most of what we've thrown out there. I wonder why...could it be the lack of Jones, Floyd, Pagan, Izturis, Hill, and Bowen?
