  1. 6 man staff? Or maybe a trade is being talked about with Gorz, Silva, or Lilly?
  2. Agree. Let the kid hit away from the 8 hole and let Geo hit in the middle. I like Fuku leading off too. I think it's time to move Lee down to 5 or 6 though.
  3. Yahoo Sports cited this thread in one of their recent posts. http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_arcade/post/Closing-Time-Rant-Upon-further-review-Big-Z-mo?urn=fantasy,235827
  4. I have 4 tickets next to each other available for tomorrow nights game. My volleyball team made it to the championship so I'm not able to use the tickets. I'm only looking for face value back and live close to the UC so I'd be able to meet up and exchange before the game. Call my cell at 773 988 0175 or email me at mfranc3@uic.edu if you're interested. Tickets are in the 300 level row 12. Face plus fees comes out to $48 each, but that price is negotiable. I'll take less if need be. Thanks and go Bulls!
  5. If anyone is interested in buying Bulls playoff tickets, the password for the presale is playoffs. Lucky guess
  6. That was embarrassing last night but it looks like we still have a shot with Bosh being out indefinitely
  7. I'll get down on this. My 12 team money league. Standard 5x5 plus OPS and Holds. H2H C-Soto 1B-Votto 2B-Utley SS-Bartlett 3B-Wright OF-Pence OF-Bruce OF-Dunn Util-Morneau Bench-C. Davis Bench-Hafner Bench-J. Rivera SP-Lester SP-Jimenez SP-Garza RP-Wagner RP-Capps P-Gregerson (holds) P-Frasor P-B. Anderson P-Price P-Buchholz P-Hughes P-Strasburg My thought: I just realized all but 2 of my starting pitchers are in the AL East (not counting Strasburg yet). YIKES (although I expect Lester to be a stud, Garza to be very good, Price to be solid, and then kind of just took a flyer on Buchholz and Hughes) I decided to draft a lot of hitting early and wanted to get my corners set (Votto, Wright, Morneau, Davis...even Dunn can play 1B). I like strikeout pitchers and I think there's a lot of good ones to be had in the middle rounds. I wasn't expecting Utley to fall to me picking 7th, so my strategy got thrown off, but I like the team I built. I'm expecting huge years from Votto, Pence, and Bruce. If Hafner or Davis produce like I'm hoping they do, I might try to move Morneau for a stud SP (Verlander, Kershaw) if my young pitching doesn't come together.
  8. As a UNC fan it's nice to see the young guys play well and play with intensity even though it's only the NIT. Henson is playing with more confidence and the guards aren't playing like crap anymore. Zeller being back has helped a lot. If Davis stays for his junior year, Henson eats some food, and Barnes, Bullock, and Marshall make significant contributions in their freshman seasons, next year could be a real good one for the Heels.
  9. Can someone tell me the best metric or combination of metrics to judge an outfielder's defense? Thanks
  10. Upper Deck Box by far. No risk of having your view blocked by people constantly walking in front of you on the walkway and the view is fantastic. You're right on top of the terrace box seats, so it's not like you're further back, either. And it's much more open. No sense of being cramped under the overhang surrounded by thousands of people. It used to be a real no-brainer prior to a few years ago when UD Box seats were cheaper relative to other seating, but they've really raised the price on those seats recently. Here are a couple of examples: 418: http://www.seatdata.com/images/mlb_cubs/800x600/418.jpg 218: http://www.seatdata.com/images/mlb_cubs/800x600/218.jpg (first 3 or 4 rows, I believe) I thought it was 7 or 8 Actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's 6. The pillars are in row 6 in the 200 level except for in the corners, so terrace box seats guarantee that you won't be obstructed...by the pillars. But if you're in the first few rows, you're going to be pretty annoyed by all of the people walking or standing in front of you on the walkway. Especially cotton candy vendors, which you don't have to deal with in the 400 level. I would definitely chose 200 level if it's the first 6 rows over any 400 level seat (unless the 200 were way down the line). The 400 aren't bad but I personally don't like being so much higher than the playing field.
  11. Salmons and Tyrus aren't garbage players, but if they're really good enough to carry Milwaukee and Charlotte over us then we weren't deserving of a playoff bid to begin with. Why would a Bulls fan care about the playoffs? This is not some organization that hasn't seen the postseason in 20 years and should be happy with making an appearance. Shouldn't the preference be to do whatever possible to move from a bottom seed type team at best to an actual contender that could win more than 3 playoff games? It's not like making the playoffs in the NBA is an accomplishment. And it's not like "anything can happen". because a) I enjoy watching the playoffs when the bulls are in it, b) I really enjoy watching the bulls play and would lose a lot of that enjoyment if they were not playing for something this year, c) Derrick rose + playoffs = nothing bad, d) trading thomas in that deal doesn't really change our future unless there's another trade brewing or the bobcats miss the playoffs and that 1st (assuming it's this year) becomes something worthwhile whcih still doesn't bother me because of the microscopic odds of getting a top pick. So yeah I really want to make the playoffs this year unless it severely damages our future prospects which it doesn't. I realize the team will probably lose in 5 games or worse but I don't care. I agree. I realize they aren't going to even come close to winning the championship, but I don't care. Last year's playoff series with Boston was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had watching pro sports. Yeah, it wasn't really great basketball and yeah, we would have been beaten in 4 or 5 if they had KG, but they didn't. The Bulls also play very well against top talent (beating the spurs twice, cavs, hawks, magic, boston, suns, etc) and they can at least make it somewhat competitive in the playoffs. And if they get a 5 or 6 seed and avoid the Magic and Cavs maybe they can advance to the 2nd round. Now if some team came to me and offered me expiring crap for Hinrich, I'd do it in a heartbeat even though it pretty much kills our chances of doing anything I just said.
  12. At least Harrington can space the floor, something that this team really doesn't have much of. That's pretty much how I feel about it too. It would be nice to force one of the other teams bigs to guard out at the perimeter and open up the lane for Derrek a little more.
  13. Jerome James and Tyrus for Al Harrington being thrown out there. I'm pretty indifferent on that move. Doesn't really do anything one way or the other. I guess Harrington is a better player than Tyrus, though. I hope that if this happens it doesn't take playing time away from Taj.
  14. I think the way the limits read, it applies only to games sold Friday-Sunday, so I don't think what you bought today would count toward those limits. But, if you wanted to be on the safe side, I guess you could call the Cubs ticket office and ask. If anyone happens to find out a definite answer on this let me know please.
  15. If the Celtics wouldn't trade Allen for them, why would they trade Allen for the Bulls's assorted collection of garbage? Because our assorted collection of garbage cost way less. Amare to Cleveland is being rumored to being close to done.
  16. Bulls, Heat, and one other team have made offers for Amare and Phoenix is still very much considering trading him. The Celtics will not do the Twan/Butler deal for Ray Allen, big ginger, and others. Good news for Bulls fans holding out hope that an Allen deal could get done.
  17. anyone got a price on one of these rooftop deals?
  18. Yeah, I don't know why anyone wouldn't be enthusiastic for getting rid of Hinrich's contract, especially for Ray Allen. I cream myself every time I think about it.
  19. Are you subtracting out Tyrus's 4.7mil? Nvm...I'm pretty sure you aren't including his contract.
  20. The only way we will get two max free agents is to move Deng fwiw. Besides there aren't that many free agents available worth the max. Despite all the hype there is a great possibility that Bosh, Wade, and Lebron all stay put. And even if one leaves, we will be in competition with other teams still. I wouldn't waste my time having cap space for more than one max guy. Now, if I could give myself a little extra cap space so I can fill out the roster with better than minimum contract guys, I'd be pleased. Wouldn't we have enough to sign 2 max deals if we move Kirk (9.5mil) and Salmon's options out (6.5) with Miller (12.25) and James (6.6) coming off the books. We wouldn't have enough to also resign Tyrus, I don't believe, but wouldn't we have enough for Joe Johnson and either Bosh or Amare?
  21. Amare is on the block. Would you want the Bulls to acquire him. A deal like Brad Miller, Ty Thomas, and draft picks would probably be something that Phoenix is looking for and matches up money-wise. Somewhere I read said they were interested in Deng. Deng and Tyrus would work. Or Deng and Salmons (if they would consider him an expiring contract) Maybe you have to throw in James Johnson or a draft pick. Would you want the Bulls to pull the trigger on a trade for Amare? Or would you rather have them wait it out in hopes for Bosh, Wade, or LeBron?
  22. I'd take Silva and his contract over Soriano and his. However, the Giants wouldn't do either I wouldn't think.
  23. You had a 4-0, 3-1, and two 2-2 teams that are considered playoff contenders on a bye, with every single bad team playing. This coming week you have a true headliner matchup at 1 and two more "should be decent games". The afternoon games kind of stink, but both primetime matchups at least look good on paper. But you're also missing a 5-0 team on a bye, a division leader, and a contender. But at least there's a bad team on a bye in Miami. I would be hesitant to call a team that leads the league in both rush offense and rush defense a "bad team" (especially when you're 1-3 and have been playing from behind most games). They outplayed the Colts on MNF and didn't play too badly on the road in Atlanta or in San Diego. They certainly won't be a playoff team, and as tough as their schedule has been so far it doesn't get any easier, but I could still see them winning 7 or 8 games.
  24. My buddy and I bought 6 bleacher tickets to wednesday nights game against the Brewers. We have an intramural softball championship game that night though, so we won't be able to go. We're just looking to get our money back and will probably be willing to take less if we have to. If you're interested, send me a PM on here or I'd prefer if you emailed me at mfranc3@uic.edu so I don't have to check PMs. We'd be able to meet up tomorrow or Wednesday no problem. Thanks!
