  1. Not without gutting the team you want to be traded too. If true, Melo is even dumber than I thought.
  2. Ideal scenarios for me would be Melo to Bulls, LeBron to Cavs, Bosh to Houston, and Wade alone with McBob, (LeBron's hand-picked) Napier, and Granger in Miami.
  3. Agreed Straily?
  4. I'd much rather face a Heat team with Melo rather than Bosh.
  5. If true, that pretty much ensures Melo is not coming here. Go get Love! Boozer (to 3rd team if they won't take his expiring contract), Taj, Jimmy, Snell, and every 1st round pick for Love and Martin. Rose/Augustin (BAE) Martin/Kirk McBuck/MDJ Love/Mirotic (MLE) Noah/Smith
  6. Let him mash. Rizzo and Schwarber can do the patience thing.
  7. I suppose signing for less is the cool thing to do these days. I hope Derrick pays the Bulls with the next contract he signs.
  8. That if all things are equal in terms of contract being offered and basically the same chance at winning, Chicago is on a par with LA and New York, as far as where guys want to play. What are the chances of "all things being equal"? I think most of it would depend on the player. For example, some guys don't like cold weather (Dwight). If Jabari becomes a FA, perhaps he would choose Chicago over LA or NY because he wants to play in his hometown. I guess I'm trying to say each situation is unique and it's difficult to say all things being equal LA>NY>Chicago. I would feel confident saying Chicago would probably be a top 5 destination for most 20 or 30 something year old athletes.
  9. Amnesty Boozer, trade Taj and Dunleavy How much money is Pau getting in that scenario? Have fun stopping teams with Carmelo and Pau on the floor. I really don't see Pau as any better than Taj right now. Plus Melo would be mad. He's hoping Taj stops his man after he blows by him on the way to the rim. Would probably have enough space, even with Melo at the max, to get him 10-12 a year. That can't be right. Unless you are assuming some amazing 3 way trade where we are dealing Boozer, Taj, and others and taking back Melo and Pau. In that situation we can take back $5M(?) more than we send out and could then possibly pay them that much. NYK gets: Taj, Dunleavy, Randolph, expirings, TPE, assets LAL gets: Boozer, assets CHI gets: Melo, Pau I think that's the only scenario in which Melo could get max money and Pau could get more than the MLE.
  10. Looking like another great day down on the farm.
  11. Why are you getting rid of Taj? I love the idea of a Taj/Mirotic/Noah/Smith front court. And if we trade Taj it better be for a decent 1st round pick with limited protection. Not for some crap that we then use to get rid of Randolph. And Dunleavy has positive trade value due to being on a team-friendly deal. We shouldn't have to pay to clear him. 4: Taj 20, Mirotic 20, Randolph, 8 5: Noah 30, Taj 10, Smith 8 Or something close to that. I doubt Thibs would let Randolph or Smith play that much, but it would be nice to limit Taj's, and especially, Noah's minutes.
  12. But McDermott is white and Jamison is black!
  13. All Cubs prospect team C-Schwarber 1b-Rizzo 2b-Baez SS-Castro 3B-Donaldson LF-Bryant CF-AA (take your pick which one) RF-Soler
  14. I think people are underestimating the control we have over Rizzo. He won't be a FA until he is 32. If we want to resign him at that point, its much cheaper to resign a 32 year old player (exiting his prime) than it is to resign a 29 or 30 year old player (still has a couple years in his prime). So not only do we have Anthony locked up to a team friendly contract until 2022, but his 2nd contract is also going to cost much less than a guy like Puig's will. The deal we got on Anthony is just tremendous. Those 2 team options are glorious.
  15. Yeah just realized that. Edited post. Thought he was already in his arb years. We still have control over Rizzo for 3 extra years. And Donaldson is already 28.
  16. I'd consider Chris Sale, Yordano Ventura, Jose Fernandez, Carlos Gomez, Josh Donaldson, Yasiel Puig, Anthony Rendon, and Andrew McCutchen, but probably wouldn't pull the trigger on anyone besides Trout. This is a very odd list. I wouldn't consider any of those guys. Maaaaaaaybe Mccutchen. We have Rizzo locked up through 2021 making nothing! Sale has an even more team friendly contract than Rizzo, Ventura/Fernandez are monsters not even arbitration eligible yet, Gomez is probably a stretch and will get paid soon, Donaldson isn't making any money, Puig has a similar contract to Rizzo, Rendon is very young. I don't think any of them would be an immediate no with the possible exception of Gomez and probably Fernandez solely due to the injury. I wouldn't trade Rizzo for a pitcher so that eliminates all of them. Puig is under control through 2018. Rizzo is controlled through 2021. So I take Rizzo there. Donaldson will be a FA sooner than Rizzo. Rendon is unproven and will be a FA before Rizzo will. I think the list starts and ends with Trout.
  17. But the whole point is to stay over the cap in a S&T so we retain our MLE and BAE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk How much salary do these expirings add up to without Boozer? In the event that NY refuses to take Boozer back in a S&T, would there be some way to sign and trade all these expirings, plus MDJ and Snell for Melo? Without having to get rid of Jimmy or Taj? Does it help if we amnesty Boozer first (to fall under the cap) and can then include Randolph in the sign and trade? If we're under the cap we can just sign Melo though now with Randolph on board our offer is about 13 (which includes dumping MDJ). So if we sent back Ramdolph we can increase the Melo salary, but then why have Randolph at all? (The three vet mins are moot as they're waived if we're staying under the cap). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk True. On second thought, it appears Randolph is here for insurance incase we have to deal Taj if the Knicks won't work out a sign and trade. No other reason to trade for a PF. That, or they know for sure that Mirotic won't be coming over this summer. It's going to be a very interesting couple of weeks. I hope Melo stays true to his word that he doesn't want to drag this out.

  20. Wow no one else has said anything. i think ric got played Why the hell would Bosh go back to Toronto? Especially if Lowry leaves.
  21. You forgot Thibs/McHale This. If we land Melo it will largely be due to Thibs.
  22. NBA turning into a 3 on 3 league? That would actually be pretty entertaining to watch.
  23. KC Johnson is an idiot, but this does make sense. You would think the Bulls would have a pretty good idea where they stand in regards to Melo. Scottie is over in Europe hanging out with him and Thibs is talking to everyone Melo knows.
  24. It's a weird loop hole that's entirely related to the fact that we only signed him to a 2 year deal on his first contract, so we didn't get full bird rights. And the provision allows you to match anyways even though you wouldn't technically have the cap space or exceptions to do so. I think there would probably be better solutions though, like allow a QO system on the third year of any rookie deal, allowing a team to get that third year and bird rights. Then again, perhaps the Bulls should have pushed harder for that third year on the first contract. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm talking specifically about how the cap hit counts one way for the signing team and another for the matching team. There's absolutely no reason to allow it to work like that. But agree, Bulls should have fought harder for a 3rd year. But all indications are that Asik really only wanted a 2 year deal so he could cash in on a larger payday sooner. How else would you structure it though? It's not fair to the Rockets to be forced to have 5/5/15 structure when they have cap space to sign him to a normal contract. The Bulls couldn't have a 8/8/8 structure without Bird rights. It's a strange rule, but it's one the league specifically put in to help the team potentially losing the player. It was designed to help players stay with teams, while before they had no chance of staying. I guess I feel that teams drafting and bringing these international guys over should automatically get bird rights, even if they only sign a 2 year deal. Also it's dumb that the signing team has to only be able to fit the average value of the contract under the cap, despite backloading it in the 3rd and/or 4th year. I don't know, just seems less than ideal.
