  1. If this is true, does this mean the Brian Roberts deal is dead, ordo they just want a bunch of middle infielders? Neifis still out there. Does Roberto Alomar still play? Rey Ordonez seems to try a comeback every year.
  2. This is starting to give me a headache. First we trade Jacque Jones, a center fielder, our biggest current need for Omar Infante, a middle infielder which we really didnt need, and then turned around and traded Infante for a reliever which we really didnt need, and now we went and signed yet another middle infielder which we didnt need.
  3. The only difference between Pavano and the gals at the playboy mansion is that Carl doesnt have to sleep with Old Man Hefner. However, the question remains, was it Pavano or his agent who refused the buyout?
  4. Sorry I dont have a link, but reading this mornings trib, apparently Baltimore wanted AA pitcer Jose Ceda(yup, the guy from the Todd Walker trade) as a key part of the Brian Roberts deal, but Hendry has deemed him untouchable. Again, everytime a prospect shows the slightest amount of potential, they're untouchable.
  5. I dont get why they make a big deal about it. Where they come from, its a perfectly legal and perfectly normal thing to do. Since they play baseball in the US, they have to abide by our laws even when they're not in the country? It doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
  6. The Rangers are a team that need to liquidate a bit quicker with the Ms and Angels looking to dominate the division for the next 5 years at least. I've been wanting to trade for Michael Young for a few years now.
  7. I've been thinking about Street, but my thinking is that if the rapidly liquidating A's were to get rid of him, hed be gone be now.
  8. Wasnt Bobby Brownlie one of our top prospects at one time? And does anyone else remember when everytime D'Angelo Jimenez came up to bat against us with Cincy, it was a guaranteed extra base hit?
  9. I know I'll be hit with all kind of stats, but He did hit .269(not horrible) with 35SB last season, and did a bit better the year before, plus a phenomanal fielder. Right now, we're without a definite CF, and we could get Corey for cheap, if nothing else, with a 1 year deal while we see what becomes of Felix Pie. I guarantee, hed already be in Cincy if they didnt have 37 outfielders.
  10. Every season, Im intrigued by former big leaguers, mainliy former Cubs who have accepted minor league deals with a shot at the big league Club. Who will make the team, and who will fade away once and for all? Astros David Newhan Jose Cruz Jr.(Wasnt he supposed to be as big as A-Rod?) A's Mike Sweeney(Big fish in a small pond becomes small fish in a crappy pond) Braves Javy Lopez(man I wanted him a a Cub 4 years ago) Cards Cliff Politte Dewon Brazelton D'Angelo Jimenez(mabe they'll bring him up just for Cubs games) Igor Cubs Shingo Dodgers Mike Myers Chan Ho Park Tanyon Sturtz Ramon Martinez Giants Scott Williamson Indians Brendon Donnelly(This one could pay off big time) Jorge Julio Mariners Chris Reitsma Arthur Rhodes Mets Fernando Tatis Tony Armas Jose Valentine Natspos Ray King Jason DuBois(Hes still around) Bobby Brownlie Orioles Steve Trashel Roberto Novoa Padres Glendon Rusche(cant blame a guy for trying) Shawn Estes Jody Gerut Pirates Jaret Wright Elmer Dessens Doug Mientkiewcz Jose Macias Rays Eric Hinske Josh Paul Red Sox Danny Kolb Bobby Kielty Reds Kent Merker Paul Bako Craig Wilson Rockies John Koronka Victor Zambrano Marcus Giles Scott Podsednik Royals Brian Lawerence Hideo Nomo Tigers Francis Beltran Matt Mantei Timo Perez Yankees Morgan Ensberg Jason Lane
  11. with 2. Milwaukee 3. Houston 4. S.L. 5. Dusty 6. Pitts.
  12. I didnt realise he was still out there. I would have thought that Dusty would have jumped on him like a vagrant on a passed out crack whore. He really hasnt been that bad for Baltimore. Someone will pick him up. His first year was okay, but he was dreadful last year. He hit .269 with 8 HR and 37 SB. Not great, but I wouldnt call it dreadful. No worse than anything we had in center last season.

  14. I want an ML contract, but it aint gonna happen. Out of thebunch, Mench isthe only one I could see accepting a minor league deal. With the Yankees pitching situation, Im surprised they havnt signed Colon, Lohse, Garcia, and Livan already, or the Red Sox havnt signed them to block the Yankees.
  15. Or even a White Sox fan. At least then you dont have to worry about expectations and you can ramble on about 2005.
  16. You cant just decide to become a fan of a team. It just hapens. Like falling in love or finding your favorite Maki roll. If I could, I would have been a Red Sox fan for the past 4 years,
  17. You doubt the ability of Koyie Hill to be our back-up back-up catcher. All backup catchers are essentially the same offensively. They'll hit in the low .200s, and have 10 homers in a good year, be it Blanco, Hill, JD Closser, whatever. You may as well have a guy with Blancos defensive skills, especially when hes making around 3 mil this year, which is obscene for a backup.
  18. Heres whats left folks Bartolo Colon Freddy Garcia Kyle Lohse Livan Hernandez Kevin Mench Mike Piazza Tony Clark Preston Wilson Reggie Sanders Rondell White and of course... ...Sammy Sosa Any takers?
  19. Youd think a guy who missed being on "The List" by the skin of his teeth wouldnt want to be anywhere near baseball.
  20. Hes still out there. Obviously, 2 outfield spots belong to Soriano and Fukudome. As planned, the other 1 will be fought between Pie and Murton, and to a lesser extent, Sam Fuld and Tyler Colvin. The question is, would Green be willing to take on Cliff Floyds role from last year. Basically keep that 3rd or even 4th outfield spot warm in case Pie and Murton cant cut it, Fuld and Colvin arent ready, and JH doesnt aquire super-duper-ultra-mega-star Marlon Byrd to fill the void. That way, Soriano could be in LT, while Fukudome switched between Center with Murton/Green in RT or Fuku in RT w/Pie in Center.
  21. After the Pirates beat him to Macias, he vowed not to let anyone else come betwen him and every out of work 2003-2005 Cub.
  22. The Dominican Republic Mets of New York has a better ring to it.
  23. 1 guy named Willy Mota and someone else. Boston will no doubt make a star out of him.
