  1. I give up, Milton Bradley is going to do what Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Billy Williams, Andre Dawson, Ryne Sanberg, Mark Grace, Sammy Sosa, Moises Alou, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, and Alfonso Soriano couldnt and be the missing piece that will finally take us to the promised land. This is the last I'll speak on it.
  2. back to the Jones/Bradley comparisons, they'be been around the same amount of time, Jones since '99, Bradley since '00. Hers some offensive stats JJ Avg-.280 HR-164 SLG-.455 OPS-100 Games Played-1260 MB avg-.273 HR-81 SLG-.439 OPS-110 Games Played-691 So yes, these are 2 incredibly comparable players. Sure, maybe I may not be as in the now as you MOJO, but I consider myself more of an average fan then someone who is going to delve into every aspect of their game. If someone is a solid player, who doesnt cause a problem amongs his team mates, I dont see the point in dumping them unless they have a legitimate upgrade, Bradley is not that. neither of these 2 are the types of players who will make or break a team, but could be decent number 6 guys in a decent lineup.
  3. If nothing else, Bradley provides insurance if Hendry loses out on Fukudome. If he gets both, he's got a top notch outfield. Chances are also good that Bradley could be had for a 1 year deal, which allows you to either let Pie get another year of seasoning or plenty of at bats if Bradley does miss any time. If Pie ends up being the real deal, Bradley would be easy to move at the deadline. If Bradley is such a horrible person, why is San Diego looking to bring him back for another year? Have you seen the Padres lineup?
  4. The fact is, Hendry and the Cubs are looking for the pieces to turn the top team in the NL Central into the top team in the NL, and lets face it, thats not saying much. Milton Bradley is NOT that piece. That piece may very well not be out there this off season, however could become available later in the season, so whats the point of Hendry letting his money burn a hole in his pocket and spend it on a guy who wont be of much help? I dont see why he doesnt go all out and try to swing a big deal with Baltimore, who has stated that there are no untouchables on their roster? I bet he could manage to pry Bedard and even Markakis off their hands. Also, would you really want a guy with his mental history playing in a filed where the fans can get incredibly brutal when you underperform?
  5. come on, there's a lot more valuable stats than batting average. Is their a mental beakdown stat? You have, by far, the worst baseball anaysis of anyone currently posting on this board. You dont have to be a stat head to know that hes injury prone, a basket case, and not even an up grade over Jacque Jones offensively or defensively.
  6. come on, there's a lot more valuable stats than batting average. Is their a mental beakdown stat?
  7. you can tell we've given up on a big off season deal when everyones clamouring for a head case with a career avg. in the .270s. I bet if Murton were given a chnce to start full time, hed put up similar stats to Bradleys, and hed be less likely to land in jail.
  8. If we loose put to the Padres orPirates, fire Hendry now. The Red Sox I could understand, as they sign anything that they can, but we should be able to outbid the Pads.
  9. I disagree, 1. If they asked for Zambrano, we could simply laugh. 2. Even the Yankees have expressed interest in shedding some payroll and adding some budding stars. Or at least keeping their own. The Yankees organization isnt familiar with the term "shedding payroll".
  10. A. Matsui isnt going anywhere. B. If the Yanks were going to consider trading him the the Cubs, the only name theyd want to hear would be Zambrano.
  11. According to Steve Phillips, it would be Rich Hill and Sean Marshall for Roberts, which is giving up way too much for a guy we really dont need, whose numbers arent much better than a good Jacuque Jones season.. and the rotation of Zambrano Lilly Marquis Dempster? ??? Leaves much, much to be desired. If it were something like Eric Patterson and and Sean Marshall, then maybe.
  12. again, this is exactly why the CUbs cant pull off a decent trade. Any prospect who shows the slightest amount of promise is considered "untouchable", and by the time their ready to trade them, they lose most of their value. I.E. Corey Patterson, Angel Guzman, and then they give up on them if they get to the majors and dont make an immediate impact, I.E. Felix Pie. Isnt Fuld pushing 30 anyway?
  13. See this is why the Cubs can never find a trade partner unless someones haveing a fire sale. Everytime, the Cubs have an almost respectable prospect, their immediatly put on the "untouchable" list, and by the time the Cubs figure out that their slight minor league success doesnt translate to the majors, they have no more trade value. Nut up Hendry, offer up something of value. You can only get so much for Matt Murton and Sean Marshall.
  14. Curtis Granderson Placido Polanco Magglio Ordonez Gary Sheffield Miguel Cabrera Edger Renteria Carlos Guillen Pudge Rodriquez Jacque Jones. Im just glad their in the AL. Yikes!
  15. The Tigers may be looking better than the Red Sox next season, plus they have a much younger core. Verlander Willis Rogers Bonderman. Now thats a rotation.
  16. The Yankees must be banking on the Wild Card for the next decade if they arent even trying to get him anymore.
  17. How the hell does an incredibly unproven 21 year old end up with a no trade clause? The guys college stats weent even impresive.
  18. Cubs get Miguel Tejada Eric Bedard Nick Markakis O's get Mark Prior Ryan Theriot Felix Pie Sean Marshall Matt Murton Don Veal or Samardzia. It would be nice. I mean the Os may as well dump those guys for youngins, as they wont be able to compete with the Yanks, Red Sox, and even Blue Jays any time soon.
  19. Im glad they beat out the Sox. Those Tigers sure arent playing around though.
  20. This is the kind of deal I'd be content with, but not excited about, as long as it wasnt the big move of the off season.
  21. Im glad to see Ohman and the 40 ft. curve ball leave town, but the fact that they essentially traded Jacque Jones, who despite popular belief is a quality player for a steaming bowl of nothing kind of sucks, considering that there's not much out there for a replacement.
  22. Forget about it people. Between the Yankees and Red Sox, whichever looses out on Santana is going to jump all over Bedard. The question is, would Baltimore be dumb enough to trade an emerging ace within their division.
  23. I hope the Yanks do get him. For years, they were the Evil Empire, keeping down the nobel Red Sox, however, these days, there basically one in the same, pretty much buying everything in their path.
  24. In this morning's Tribune, Lou sounded like Theriot is the SS and they're looking for a lefty SS to sub for him on occasion. I wonder what Cedeno has to do to have a real shot at playing because his upside is certainly better than Theriot's. Of course, there have been times he (Cedeno) has looked brutal at times in the majors. I think that the aquisition of Infante may make Cedeno trade bait. Certainly hes not the type of guy they would be able to build a big trade around, but a lot of teams may be interested in him as part of a package.
  25. I really dont like the sub .260 average, but the 97 RBI suggests that he can come through when it counts. Just the same though, Id assume Theriot, Infante, and maybe even Cedeno battle it out for short while we find a CF or RF who can hit.
