  1. No, but Center field is. I know, hes a left fielder, but surely, with his speed he could handle center, or put Fuku there and put Kenny in Rt.
  2. It just struck me: Kenny Lofton is a free agent, and we dont have a solid leadoff man. Felix Pie is young, and could benifit from another year in Iowa. Ryan Theriot sucks at leadoff, but could be a decent 8 hitter.
  3. Cubs' lineup per ESPN 1000: theriot soriano lee ramirez fukudome derosa soto pie lily Same as opening day. How much longer will this theriot/soriano disaster go on? At this point I'm rooting for Reed Johnson to start over Pie just so that the lineup doesn't suck like this. Or JH could just realise that the answer is right under his nose and grab Kenny Lofton.
  4. M&M for Jose Reyes. Final offer.
  5. Sure, I'll take Mauer and Morneau.
  6. Roberts, Theriot, whatever. The CUbs only had one chance yesterday-8 Fukudome clones.
  7. It sure didnt take Pedro long to go down, did it? The most dominant 1-2 pitching combination in baseball lasts a game and a third.
  8. Not only is that failed to be mentioned, plus the A-Gon botched routine double play ball, but the fact that if bartman had been in the bathroom at that time, some other clown would have gone down in infamy. Just look at the picture. There are like 10 people reaching for that ball. He was just the one unlucky enough to catch it.
  9. It could be worse. We could have Kenny Williams. Sure, he got his team a WS win, but afterword, he weant completely mad and made some truely ridiculous moves.
  10. Wednesdays strategy: Go into the bottom of the 9th down by a run or 2 and pounce on Gagne again. Also, Keep Howry as far from the mound as possible.
  11. Derrek Lee is over rated for one reason: 2005. He raised the bar too high for himself. Hes basically a .270-.280 hitter who will give 25-30 HRs but then he had to go and put up Pujolsian numbers that year, and everyone expected him to do it again. 2007 Was a good Derrek Lee season. 2005 was more of an A-Rod/Pujols season, and who knows, maybe he had a little help from his fairly godmother that year, and by fairy godmother, I mean pharmacist.
  12. Nobodys ever happy when their team looses, accept maybe the 1919 White Sox, but I doubt that there talking about dumping half the players, firing the managers, revamping the lineups and what not.
  13. The Good News: Suppan is more hittable than (a healthy) Sheets any day. The Bad News: Lilly is more hittable than Zambrano. Lets just hope that Lilly gets back to his old form of picking up wins after a loss that he had toward the end of last season.
  14. Yep, every fast guy has "all of the tools to be the next Rickey Henderson." Also, Rickey never hit for power. Only bunts and slap-hit singles. Rickey had power. He had his share of 20+ HR seasons, which was pretty good then. My point is, every speedster isnt going to be a 5 tooler. Some of them need to accept the fact that they only have 2 or 3 tools.
  15. You're all sounding like Ron Santo with the premature sense of impending doom. Its the first game. last I checked, theres a few more of them ahead of us. We're all about to crucify Wood, Theriot, Pie, and Lou. Why isnt D-Lee getting any hate? he sucked all through spring training. Give it at least a month. If Theriot and Pie are still sucking, adjustments will be made. Someone will be aquired.
  16. How? Why? Its not his fault that Hendry couldnt score him a leadoff hitter. He trotted out the lineup he promised. They just didnt perform. He snt out the closer who dominated spring training. He got rocked. The one mistake he made was not bringing in Wuertz when Howry got in trouble. His specialty is helping others out of the graves they dig for themselves.
  17. Maybe we, and by we, I mean Hendry need to accept the fact that we just dont have a leadoff hitter. Brian Roberts and Coco Crisp are still out there, and can probably be obtained. Felix Pie is basically Corey Patterson II. He has all the tools to be the next Rickey Henderon, but he'd rather be the next Barry Bonds. I hope you like needles little guy.
  18. Also, keep in mind that last season, we lost opening day. The 2 before it, we dominated, scoring double digets each game, and we all remember how those seasons ended.
  19. 3 Cubs performed this afternoon. Zambrano, Marmol, and Fukudome. Hopefully a few others will decide to join them on Wednesday.
  20. Another Opening Day without a W for Z. Im sure he'll be fine. This isnt that little whiner that weant off to San Diego we're talking about here.
  21. Is this to point out that he's Dusty's kind of guy or that you would want him on the Cubs? Hoppers a prototypical leadoff hitter+ a great CF. Im just saying, if things dont work out with Felix, it might be worth persuing. We all know that Griffeys season will be over by May, and Dunn patrols the outfield with the grace of a cement truck, but maybe Dusty doesnt.
  22. I wonder if theres a snowballs chance in hell that Hopper is obtainable, much less by us.
  23. Dont forget Norris Hopper who will be grabbing some bench while C-Patt takes his job.
  24. Im not going to lie, I may shed a tear when Opening Day happens and Matt Murton is on another team.
