  1. Please tell me you are joking Only about Fukudome batting 9th, and thats only half joking. Maybe flip flop Lee/Soto, but other than that, it looks like a damn good lineup. Ram/Bradley/Sori/Soto/Lee would be a nighmarish gauntlet for any pitcher.
  2. I know Riccardis notoriously horrible to deal with, and would probably ask for a kings ransom, but it would be worth it. Unfortunately, he doesn have the infatuation with the Cubs that Peavy reportedly had, nor does Hendry have the relationship with Riccardi that he has with Towers and Halladay would probably have a bigger list of teams just to get the hell out of Toronto, but it would be nice.
  3. My thinking is that if Hendry though that any deal was anywhere near the horizon, they wouldnt have dropped Gaudin like they did, as 2 of Marshall, Heilman, and Guzman would have more than likely been involved.
  4. The march to glory begins tonight! Although Theriot Fontenot Ramirez Bradley Soriano Soto Lee Zambrano Fukudome sounds like a far superior lineup, but we knew that already.
  5. I think we've gotten the better of Billy Beane trades in the past. This is probably the first time he got the better of us as far as I can recall. Whether Beane got the best of the Cubs is still open to question at this point. Gallagher has gone from No. 2 starter to out of the rotation for Oakland, as his velocity dropped as spring training went on. Eric Patterson is in the minor leagues, as is Murton, with Colorado. If Harden stays healthy and makes 25 starts and most of them are of the quality variety, then I think the Cubs get the better of this deal. But it's too early to judge now. Don't know where your getting your facts but nothing wrong with Gallaghers velocity as of the other night. Would expect him to be back in the rotation shortly. Id expect Gio Gonzalez to be in the rotation before Gallagher Whatever happen with the futures of any of those invloved in the trade, Gallagher is the only one who had a future with the Cubs of any sort, so as far as Im concerned, it was a stright up Harden for Gallagher trade. If Harden helps us win the series this year, as far as Im concerned, after that he could go the Mark Prior rout and Gallagher can be the next Maddux.
  6. Im pretty confident that Gaudin will find a new home in the not too distant future.
  7. Im guessing Hendry is on the phones trying to get in a last second deal, probably for Gaudin. Who knows, maybe it will be that blockbuster with San Diego weve been waiting for for 4 months. Probably not, but we can hope.
  8. Gooz has looked sharper lately. He'll make the team unless some team shows interest and makes a solid offer at the last minute. Shark will likely be in Iowa prepering for Hardens first DL stint. That leaves Gaudin and Patton. Gaudin had a solid inning yesterday, but I dont think that knowcking out some Yankee prospects will be enough to get him out of the doghouse. Patton hasnt looked as good his last few outings. He labored yesterday after getting the first 2 out quick, but showed control problems, which Lou hates more than the home run ball. Vizcainos looked brutal lately, but hes owed too much money to take a bath on it.
  9. Theyve alwayd been streaky. Just when they seem unstopable, they go ice cold. Then just as they seem to have collapsed, they get red hot again, an repeat process all season. More likely than not, they're pitching will do them in, but they have been consitantly great all season, with a .688 winning % for the Spring. Here are some of their offesnsice lines Fielder(whose reportedly back on the meat) .273/.374/.623 6HR Weeks .312/.425/.506 3HR Hart .351/.383/.757 7HR Hardy .403/.488/.761 4HR Casey freaking McGehee .328/.339/.639 6HR Mike Cameron .267/.366/.517 3 HR Meanwhile, we have 1 guy with an OPS near 1.000 and he happens to be conveniantly lodged in the leadoff spot like a racoon in a crawlspace.
  10. Hopefully they got all the garbage out of their system the past week or so.
  11. The Angels. 3 of their top starters are opening the season on the DL.
  12. Nobody else on the Ms list would be useful to us, but if no Peavy deal can happen, Id take Bedard. I know Hendry has shown some interest in him in the past.
  13. Very sharp 1-2-3 for Gooz. I think hes earned a spot lately, and that last one will be between Patton and Gaudin.
  14. Nope, looks like he was, at least for a minute From Baseball Reference
  15. Patton got 2 real quick outs and lost his command. Not the time to fall apart kiddo.
  16. Didnt we have Cody Ransom in our system at one point?
  17. 8-1 Yankees. Cubs and Harden just getting out played in every aspect of the game today. Aint no other way to put it.
  18. I wonder if Hendry is keeping an eye on him in case on of our guys go down, or no Peavy deal seems possible by then. Sheets was dominant last year for half a season, so if we could get a nice second half out of him, Id be all for it.
  19. Good job Cubs, getting the amatureish play out of their sytems before Monday.
  20. Yes. The scoreboard said 2 outs, even though there was only 1. Still, a veteran player like that should be more aware of that type of thing.
  21. Fukudome is getting deeper and deeper in Lous doghouse. For the 38 mil we still owe him, he can build a real nice one.
  22. We'll see how healthy he can stay. If Jurjens and Tommy Hanson can live up to the hype, the Braves can give the Mets and Phils a run for their money, if not this year, for years to come.
