    the video game move is coghlan playing at 2B, not RF, which we've done, you crazy ass weirdo True. But as good as the offense has been lately, they're not good enough to survive a world with Coghlan at 2nd and Bryant and Schwarber at the corners. And Fowler isn't exactly Lorenzo Cain in center.

    Just answered your own question. I know that Rivero's name comes up every time there's a bullpen vacancy, and I've wondered myself. But there must be a reason, or he'd have been up a while ago. Besides, in a few days, they can add as many bad relievers as they want.

    I don't think you understand how...anything...works. I understand that our starting RF is about to hit the DL for about a month. I understand that a month long DL stint can become a 2 month DL stint. I understand that it's August 25 and a 2 month DL stint= a season ending DL stint. I understand that we're closing in on our 1st post season opportunity in what feels like eons, and when we get there, it would be nice to have the best team possible. I understand that we have 2 men on our active roster who have spent time in RF, and one of them just hit the DL and the other is Chris Denorfia. I understand that if this were a video game, we could simply plug Bryant, Schwarber, or Coghlan in RF and they wouldn't miss a beat. I understand that this isn't a video game. I understand that there are about 12 teams who are for all practical purposes out of post season contention, many of whom have plenty of players already through waivers that we don't even know about, some of which can probably play RF. And if we could acquire one at the right price, we should look into it. Understandably.

    Should we not be concerned that Chris Denorfia is now our everyday RF for the home stretch? Far from a death blow, but all I'm saying is that maybe we should start making some calls.

    Gleybar's been in a bit of a rut lately. Seems that his BA's hovered around .300 for a while, but his OPS steadily plummets. And Zagunis is back.

    Roster expansion's a week and a half away. In need be, he can take a day or two here and there and pinch hit when needed. No need to fiddle with the roster at this point.

    Tseng's been very good after his rough start to the season. And at 20 years old, he's about 3 years below his league average. Random Stuff Vogel-back (yeah I went there) 1-1 with a 2B and 3BB in his triumphant return for the AZL Cubs. Also for the AZL, Carlos Rodriguez (one of those guys who only I care about) went 3 scoreless with 3 H and 0/8 BB/K. I think Mendy's dead.

    This probably falls into the category of who gives a flying [expletive], but as of yesterday, Taylor Davis was at AA, leaving Taylor Teagarden and somebody Luke Carlin as the AAA catching tandem. Not that I'm concerning myself with any of the three, though Davis is a decent enough fringe prospect, but I have to wonder if the intent is to move Contreras to AAA, but wanted to wait until after the Tenn. double header.

    I was just thinking out loud about my interest in the AAA, not so much in terms of players but the social hierarchy. Especially since it's such a revolving door, more so than any other level.

AAA's more of a revolving door than the rest of the minors, and an entirely different world and make up all together. Those That Matter: -Prospexcts -Notable Reclamation projects. Spare Parts to fill emergency big league needs: -AAAA/career minor leaguers, be it organization or castoffs from other teams playing for a cup of coffee. -Former big leaguers trying to claw their way back. The Rest: -Former big leaguers who simply aren't ready to hang 'em up, and are basically unofficial player-coaches/mentors. -Oranizational lingerers who have come to terms with the fact that they're filler. And while I assume that they keep it professional, there has to be some degree of cliqiness between the prospects, the former big leaguers who already have several mil in the bank, and the guys who are just happy to be somewhere. Javy's description of last year's Iowa lineup as something along the lines of 'Mendy, me, some other guy, and Kris Bryant sums it up.
