  1. Arietta earned every bit of the W, but Kris Bryant deserves the S.
  2. Berry, Szczur, and LaStella will be in the game by the 6th inning.
  3. You know what, [expletive] 'em all. Let's win games and let them worry about us. But the thought of the Nats gaining any kind of momentum is a bit nerve racking.
  4. If my calculations are correct, and they sometimes are, assuming we can hold the D Backs to 2 runs or fewer the rest of the way, we will win this game.
  5. #hewasgood
  6. Impressive performance by Adbert "Not a Misprint" Alzolay- 1/10 BB/K over 5.2.
  7. Guess that leg's feeling better.
  8. I really don't care how much of a running gag it becomes. I'll always take a no risk [glow=red]flier[/glow] on a one time top prospect over another Valaika or Baxter. Needless to say, it depends on whether or not the problem is something fixable. And I trust that whomever makes such decisions would have a pretty good idea of that. I know that Lee did suffer a pretty severe injury (ACL?) and jasnt been the same (or good) since. But he's 24, so if there's any hope, why not?
  9. I thought the WC didn't play the team from its own division in the 1st round, regardless of record.
  10. It was bound to happen. Even bad teams win series. A couple of pitches go differently (and no Castro errors) and we might have swept the series. Basically what I'm saying is that it sucks to lose the series against a team thats been terrible, but there isn't anything I saw that changes my long term outlook. The biggest issue is that the back of our rotation sucks and we don't really have any options to try to fix it. It almost certainly won't keep us out of the playoffs, but in a 5 game LDS, you will probably have at least 2 games started by the back end of the rotation. Wed - Arrieta (WC) Friday - Lester (normal rest) Saturday - Hammel or Hendricks (normal rest) Monday - Arrieta (+1 day rest) Tuesday - Whoever doesn't start between Hammel or Hendricks in Game 2 Thursday - Lester (+1 day rest) I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Lester go in that hypothetical Tuesday slot. If we were down 2-1 it'd be damn near a certainty. I'm not sure that the thought of Hammel/Hendricks vs. Syndergaard/Colon or Latos/Anderson strikes fear into my heart. The Cardinals, on the other hand..
  11. Fernando Cruz' I Cub debut isn't going as well as he hoped.
  12. Nats are closer to us than we are the Cards. And The Giants are closer to catching the Dodgers than they are us.
  13. This game was frustrating and I would like to express my displeasure with the outcome.
  14. That was frustrating and I hated it.

  16. How about the guy who laid a juicy meatball right in front of Joey Votto? Can you be mad at him? Because I can. Votto is a great hitter who is in an unbelievable stretch and is hitting in fantastic conditions. He also shouldn't have been up. Rondon is a great pitcher, and it sucks that he threw a bad one that was crushed, but considering how good hes been for us you can't be mad at him. Likewise for Bryant who just freaking tied the game. Like if he didn't hit that HR none of this would be frustrating. The fact is that when you give the opponent a gift, don't give it to one of the game's best hitters, especially against us. Not taking anything away from Beandon Phillips, but given the situation, I'd have taken my chances against him.
