  1. Jake and John on the mound Monday and Tuesday. It's really going to happen, isn't it?
  2. For a young stud pitcher, Lance Lynn has really been our [expletive] toy lately.
  3. Listening to Pedro here gave me a flashback to Don Zimmer charging him. RIP to Popeye, but that was one of sports history's most comical moments.
  4. Look at those fools celebrating like they just won the World Series..hey, we're those fools! [expletive] YEAH!!!!!!
  5. Objective; find that Billy Douche and punch him in the face.
  6. Christ, that meatball announcer was milking the hell out of that leadoff single as.
  7. On a side note, when a guy with 16 HR and a .783 OPS may or may not be one of our '8 best guys,' that's a pretty swell problem to have.
  8. Is this some sort of double reverse jinx? It's a we're going to win the World Series, and it won't be close.
  9. With Arrieta on the mound, we should probably start thinking ahead to the DCS.
  10. They feel so [expletive] threatened by us. I love it. It's called Bosio-dust. It's like Pixie-dust but better.
  11. As looked down upon as W's and ERA are in this advanced stats driven era, it wouldn't surprise me if alot of the Cy Young voters mark out over the 21 wins and sub 2.00 ERA combo. Could be wrong, but I think the last guy to put that together was Clemens in 1990. Maddux and Pedro each came close a few times, but no cigar. And the fact that he's been inhuman for the second half of the season won't hurt his chances.
  12. Am I alone in thinking that Jake should be skipped Sunday, so the Pirates don't get a preview just weeks before he faces them with it all on the line?
  13. For the 2nd half of the season, he's hitting a healthy .298/.324/.452.
  14. There is no logical reason for Jake not to end the night a 20 game winner with a sub 2.00 ERA.
  15. http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/herald-review.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/5/6f/56fdd17f-2351-5e29-b8b9-669856b2292a/5126497670748.preview-699.jpg
  16. If everything not worthy of its own thread didn't get its own thread, there wouldn't be a lot of threads. Not that that would be the worst thing in the world. Besides, this is supposed to a happy time. Let it go, man.
  17. Was listening on the radio; first time seeing it. Even more glorious than Pat made it out to be. But serious question; had we lost after Rondon's [expletive] ejection, would we have been able to put it under protest? Maybe it looked more intentional than Pat made it out to be, but as he said, even when under a warning, the umps need to excercise common sense. Because if the Cubs were going for a 9th inning revenge plunking, it sure as hell wouldn't have been on some guy named Greg Garcia with the top of the Cardinals lineup coming up behind him.
  18. Now before you go rushing for your respective 'what the hell are you talking about' meme folders, I mean that in the best possible way. Around this time of year, some of the surprise contenders are running out of gas. Some of the expected contenders are becoming anxious and buckling under the pressure, as did the 2008 Cubs. But not these guys. They're just out there playing some baseball and having fun doing so like it was the middle of May. Not a care in the world. And there really shouldn't be, because whatever happens this October, it's just the maiden voyage; and it sure as hell doesn't look like the Titanic or the Challenger to me.
  19. It's days like this when I'm glad we didn't trade Castro for a 28 year old AA LOOGY.
  20. I know early in the season Lilly mostly just walked around the bleacher construction without a hard hat on. Not sure where where he's been lately. Glove Slamming Coach?
  21. Since when are Ryan Dempster and Ted Lilly Special Assistants to the GM? What do they even do?
  22. I certainly didn't expect to see Russell and Schwarber up this season. And nobody can deny the instant star power of Bryant. But to answer the question, Jake Arrieta, and it's not close.I expected him to be a great #2 behind Lester's ace. But never in my wildest dreams did I expect Bob [expletive] Gibson.
