  1. Does Homer still own the Broncos?
  2. Basically, everybody likes him; they just have 41 guys they like better.
  3. He certainly seems entertaining. I hope to see a lot of him in early September when we've clinched.
  4. It seems like a lot because it is. That probably is too much, but if Lucroy is healthy I think I'd do it if we also got Will Smith or Wily Peralta out of the deal with him. Or have the deal expanded with the Rays where we'd get McGee as well as Lucroy.
  5. Sounds like a spare part in case LaStella gets hurt. So we'll probably be seeing a lot of him.
  6. Is it me, or does a new name pop up on the I Cubs roster every day? What the hell's a Cole Brocker? Kristopher Negron? Luis Cruz? Fernando Cruz? Miguel Mejia? I'm pretty sure they're just making these guys up. Not that it matters.
  7. Was it him who's wife broke his hand with a suitcase or something?
  8. Who cares? Let us be their problem.
  9. They're going to be murder on all of those lefty heavy lineups. Of which there aren't any, with the possible exception of...oh.
  10. They really have to. Cubs fans will always come back. And even in the down years, Wrigleyville draws in the come for the party, stay for the game meatheads. And their money's as good as anyone's. But the Sox don't have that luxury. And a lengthy era of the Cubs as a dominant force and the Sox toiling in obscurity could result in the Indianapolis Corn Sox before too long.
  11. And speaking of that team across town that went in an improbable run 10 years ago- Orioles, White Sox Reportedly Emerging As Leaders In Cespedes Market https://http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/orioles-white-sox-favorites-yoenis-cespedes.html It would make sense. If there's one art that the White Sox have mastered, it's racking up tier 2-3 free agents and trade targets while the big boys haggle over tier 1?

  13. Brendan Ryan was never going to be on the active roster, so it has as much bearing on Baez as releasing Olmos did earlier. Well as of right now the only people capable of playing SS are Baez and Russell. There's also Mendy, so to speak, as well as an endless sea of Brendan Ryans and Jonathan Harerras. I doubt they're agressively shopping Javy at this point, but if he can bring back something in the form of a Ross or Carrasco, they're not going to hold back because they need him as a backup.
  14. Padres Release Jay Jackson To Pursue Opportunity In Japan https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/padres-release-jay-jackson-to-pursue-opportunity-in-japan.html
  15. Gives new meaning to the term "reclamation." Bam. You're welcome.
  16. Cubs To Sign Brandon Gomes https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/cubs-to-sign-brandon-gomes.html I think I've heard of him. Looks like your garden variety AAAA depth.
  17. http://wrigleyville.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2015/09/10/theo-the-trader-evaluating-epsteins-trades-during-his-cubs-tenure/ Maybe this BP article from September has been posted here, but it's a good one. Just thinking about the steaming pile of rubbish that Theo inherited and what he's spun it into in 4 years time is mind boggling.
  18. http://Blue Jays Sign Roberto Hernandez, Brad Penny https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/blue-jays-sign-roberto-hernandez-brad-penny.html Because you never know when 2005 will roll around again.
  19. If this is the big move of the offseason, we're screwed.
  20. In Theo's world, nothing's valueless. Ok, maybe Edwin Jackson and Jose Veres. But nothing else. Villanueva has always been known as a great glove man, and he has a solid bat. But being out of options and very, very blocked, he's basically an expiring $10 off coupon; if you walk into the store and find something you want or need, than great. If not, oh well.
  21. I hope not. I feel like like every year there's reports or people overvaluing him immensely like he's some sort of heralded talent. Even at his most hyped I still didn't think he was anything special Did anybody still think Jake Arrieta was an important prospect 2 years ago?
  22. think of it as trading Heesch for AAA OF Mike O'Neill and a PTBNL: Jason Heyward.
  23. http://www.xxlmag.com/files/2010/01/a-tribe-called-quest-news.jpg
  24. Drafting team gets to keep him. Cost is peanuts, like $1K or something insignificant. And unlike the major-league version, I don't think the drafting team needs to even keep the draftee on it's AAA roster. Basically it's a free transfer of roster-fill players. Most major-league Rule 5's don't stay with drafting team; AAA draftees never get returned to original team. Heesch and Chen have been productive minor-leaguers. Best wishes to them. Don't you ever well wish a St. Louis Cardinal you treacherous swine!. Ever! But yeah, he'll probably come in against us and strike out the side at an inoportune moment sometime and it will lead to chaos and panic.
