  1. [expletive] [expletive], what the [expletive] you [expletive]
  2. Just in case we get something going, maybe get somebody who's not James Russell throwing in the pen.
  3. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/189820/jim-mora-playoffs-o.gif It's a known weakness. So yeah, they're sure as hell going to try early; and if it works, often.
  4. Though both would be ideal, I'll be happy with a Cubs win or a Giants loss tomorrow and then get the [expletive] out of here with a 4.5 game lead, head home, and hopefully peck the Reds' bones dry.

  7. This is painfully true. It's mind boggling how a pitcher so good can have such an Achilles heel. He gave up one stolen base this inning(that was 100% on Montero), and that runner still required 2 singles to score. And it was enough to get him nice and rattled.
  8. I'm not sure getting shut down by two of the best pitchers in the game back-to-back counts as a slumping offense. What's no fun is these [expletive] West Coast trips.

  10. I really thought they'd stop the bleeding tonight. Oh well, hopefully our new besties, the Cardinals can play Band-Aid again tomorrow.
  11. How is he decent? He's below replacement leve or slightly above depending on who you look at. And the only reason he's 0.5 wins above replacement on fangraphs is because of his defense. He's a decent player in his given role as a utility OF. He was batting 2nd because we were up against perhaps the best left handed pitcher on the planet and somebody had to bat there.
  12. If we'd won either of the last 2 games, it would have been gravy. Now we have Lester vs. Douche Face and Arrietta vs. Alex Wood. Let's win these 2 and get the [expletive] out of the hellacious vortex that is the NL West until next year.
  13. The elephant in the room here is Javy. if ample playing time is available, he should be called up. He can play some 3rd with Bryant playing OF or SS to spell Castro or Russell. My guesses for Wave 1: Bonifacio Olt Soriano Medina Villanueva would be interesting. He quietly leads the farm in HR and has a reputation as a strong defender. We could see Edwards before the end, if he's healthy. After the AAA season, Olt, Mendy, Berry, Wada, and Beeler could join them. Or not. Ramirez has yet to begin rehabbing, so he could end up on the 60 day DL for his roster spot. Motte too.
  14. Rodney, who was really good in 2012, will be filling in for Jason Motte, also really good in 2012. This means something.
  15. In hind sight, I'm glad I was able to check out early with Haren and later crap ass LOOGY [expletive]-wad getting hammered, rather than the frustration of a wasted quality start by Hammel or Lester.
  16. Well, assuming we lose today, we'll be 16-14 in games started by Hendricks and Haren. So this is one of the dumbest things I've seen. There's also the whole Hendricks and Haren aren't going to always be up against the ace of a >.500 team thing.
  17. If this was Hendricks, it would have been Wood and/or Richard for a while. Just saying.
  18. Though I don't feel great about these next 2 games, I do feel great in knowing that we can't come out of it any worse than 4.5 games up.
  19. I know I'm just rambling, but I don't think I'll ever cease to marvel at the remarkable set of circumstances that brought Kris Bryant into our lives. How he pretty much came out of nowhere months before the draft. How until then, the 2013 draft pool consisted of Mark Appel, Jonathan Gray, and other. And how weeks before the draft, Gray was suspended for use of a banned substance, which turned out to be Ritalin or something; if not, it would have been him selected with the #2 pick. There's only one explanation as to how this came to be: divine intervention.
  20. No, I don't expect Schwarber and Bryant at the corners. To put it simply, I would like another bat. A .710 OPS is by no means a difference maker. But at the bottom 3rd of our lineup, it was a very nice luxury to have.
  21. A man by the name of Quintin Berry is now on the Iowa Cubs roster. If anyone's interested. And he doesn't seem very interesting.
