  1. The past 7 games, Bryant's hitting .304/.429/.652. So you can all stop with your words and sentences. He's going to be fine. Numbers don't lie. Words do. And seeing as sentences are nothing more than a series of eloquently connected words, they lie too. .304/.429/.652. Nothing else matters. End of story.
  2. Call me. crazy, but I'm thinking we're heading to the playoffs.
  3. If this is the end of the road for him, I have to assume that he'd want a chance to win. And it's not like he'd have to relocate his family. This seems like a scorching hot take. He's already won a WS; maybe he just wants to finish his career on the same team. I suppose there's something to be said for playing your entire career with one team, especially these days. But considering what the Phillies have become, that could make it more depressing. Jeter, for example, may not have gone out on one of the better Yankees teams, but at least they were kinda-sorta contending until the end of the season. Phillies are pretty much waiting for the clock to wind down.

  6. Good to see Eloy in the lineup for the first time since not being traded.
  7. Though not the ideal outcome, I suppose I wouldn't cry too hard if he ended up Mark Reynolds with serviceable defense. Seeing as that's Mike Olt's current ceiling, I'd probably cry a little, though.
  8. Some DSL pitcher named Andri Rondon has been striking out a lot of guys lately.
  9. He is going to be fine. They all are. There is no statistical evidence to back up any doubt. It's all hersay. You're making up numbers and observations. Now shut up. Lock this thread. Blow it up. Send it plummeting into the darkest depths of hell so that it may crush Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and Anthony Lanza, so that some good may come from your lies.
  10. I don't know what to make of Almora's post break surge, but admit it, had we traded him for a mid level rental such as Leake or Latos just before he put together this stint, some of you would be starting to eye the heroin and hypodermics right about now.
  11. Past 10 Games: .366/.447/.488/.935. I still have to think that he picked up a few things at the Pan Am games.
  12. I believe it was Shakespeare who said "this [expletive] just got real."
  13. vogelbach and someone right? It's a big old bucket of meh. Vogelbach, Contreras, Black, Johnson Contreras is eligible for the Rule 55, though I'm not sure exactly what that means. But it doesn't cost a big league roster spot, that much I know. And right about now, I'd be reluctant to leave Candelario unprotected. Maybe Jonathan Martinez, Taylor Scott, and Michael Jensen, and Juan Paniagua. But you can't protect everyone. Other than that, there are a few guys who could be picked but probably not worth protecting; PJ Francescan, Taylor Davis, Steven Bruno, or Bijan Rademacher. I could also see someone taking Dillon Maples and stashing him on the 60 day much of the season.
  14. Bone Marrow. Or at least more of it.
  15. Do people realize how inconsequential revocable waivers are?
  16. It's not so much about sleeping on the guy as his being what we needed; an upgrade over the revolving door of [expletive] that was the end of our rotation. And personally, Price would have been great, but I can hardly blame them for not going all in, especially considering he'll be a part of a very strong free agent crop. I am, however, a bit sore that the Padres thing fell apart. If Javy was the key to landing Ross and Kimmel, I can't understand not pulling the trigger. Of course for all we know, it could later come out that they wanted Schwarber and Javy. But that's a rant for another thread and a few weeks ago.
  17. Great game, Cubs! No, not you James Russell and Jason Motte.
  18. Christ, who are these weirdos and why do they keep scoring runs?
  19. Why on Earth would anyone tell Kyle Schwarber to steal a base anyway?

  21. Or we can just call up Sczcur or Andreoli if we want someone who's speedy and white and bad.
  22. Any word on Eloy? Did they forget to tell him he wasn't traded?
  23. It's very possible that Almora picked up a thing or two during the Pan Am games from the coaches. He may never be the 5 tool played he was once projected to be, but is 2009-2012 BJ Upton an unrealistic hope for him? And add that to what we already have, and damn.
  24. This is easily the best Cubs team of my lifetime until they lose another game. I really and truly think thatvSchwarber is going to be something special until he hits a rough patch. But in all seriousness, if there is such a thing as clutch, it's winning the games you need to against the team you need to. And yeah, I get that you need to win every game against every team. But you know what I mean.
