  1. Jacskon, Ha, and Szczur could one day very well end up a very good, speedy outfield for us. They'd cover a ton of ground between them. There may be no such thing as a gapper. Probably at least 3 years away though.
  2. Whatever it is, they better let him sit out the rest of the season to let it fully heal. Want him at full strength next year :D. Perhaps we can interest them in Carlos Pena for Shelby Miller until then. 8-)
  3. I was watching some highlights from last night, and holy [expletive], did anyone else see John Danks take that liner to the head? How the hell Is he standing, let alone finish the game and scheduled to make his next start?
  4. I would add Szczur and Ha to your list of prospects who profile as above average. With the possibility of some the young guys from short season emerging to be that in the future like Wells, Golden, etc. I agree with Szczur, but I think Ha profiles with the average hitters group. His best tool is reportedly his defense.
  5. I think we were the first to really get to him when he came to the NL and was seemingly unhittable. We chased him fairly early as I recall.
  6. And if someone else had posted Wells sucks without adding the so far this year part after only 5 starts, would you not have gotten on their case hardcore? I think the problem people who have a problem with Wells have is that as a finesse pitcher, when you watch him, he's just not convincing. By that, I mean when you see power pitchers like Z and Garza at their best, they just look dominant, whereas soft tossers just never look that dominant, even when they are unless your talking about a guy like Maddux. When you see these finesses, they just always look hittable even when they're fooling the hitters. I'm not saying its true, its just an impression
  7. I'm actually confused here. On one hand, there's the Wells sucks camp. On the other, theres the Wells is good camp. I'm with the Wells is decent and cheap, but wouldn't want to offer him any kind of contract extension.
  8. 30 in this non steroid era is ancient. They should be lucky to get back brett gardner or ryan theriot clone. Gardner- .271/.360/.378, dWAR of 1.9 and 1.6 the last two years Theriot- .285/.348/.356, dWAR of -1.5 for his career Wouldn't exactly call them clones. Gardner at least walks a ton and is a decent fielder. And we do have to be realistic. Teams might get desperate at the deadline, but I can't see anyone trading their top prospect for Z. A nice package of second-tier prospects would be more likely. If we get a package of second tier prospects for Z, unless a significant amount of cash comes with them, someone will need to be fired immediately
  9. Look around the league. Most teams 5 starters are probably on par with Wells. Its not his fault that we only have 3 starting pitchers that are better than him when we should have 4. name 10 teams with 5 starters who are on par with wells. note: 10 is not "most teams" but if you can name 10, you at least might be onto something. hint: you may just want to not do this and admit you were wrong. Probably am wrong, although there probably are about 10. As I've stated in the past, as long as Wells is cheap and semi effective, I'm OK with him. Once he's up for a pay raise, I'd prefer some other team give it to him.
  10. After yesterday, I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Bibens follow Mathes and Diamond out the door.
  11. Good thing that he was Koyie Hills backup when he was up.
  12. Look around the league. Most teams 5 starters are probably on par with Wells. Its not his fault that we only have 3 starting pitchers that are better than him when we should have 4.
  13. It's Sabathia, not [expletive] Pedro in his prime. Though, yes, Wells sucks. He doesnt suck, but you never like your chances when you have a 5th starter, whose basically a 4th starter out of necessity going against an ace, especially one with an offense significantly better than ours, however, Johnson and Baker are like having a real heart of the lineup vs. lefties.
  14. Juan Serrano pitched for the Smokies this evening, so he must have been recently promoted from Daytona.
  15. Ya sure about that :-k And when was JY Serrano promoted to Tennessee?
  16. Considering the lack of options, Quade should seriously consider batting Johnson 3rd, at least as long as he stays hot, which has been pretty much all season. Not like we have a better CF option either while Byrds out.
  17. Don't worry, that elusive 3 game win streak will come eventually. Granted, it will probably be in September in front of some 250 fans, but it will come.
  18. That ball sure looked good off the bat though. He really is on pace to duplicate his 2009 numbers though.
  19. Still have 2 innings with the Yankees injury depleted middle relief before Mariano. Hopefully our pen can go without imploding
  20. That explains why he got so pissed when Grabow stole JoBus rum.
  21. Been on a team with a clueless manager. I think Quades reasoning is that since we dont have a guy whose truely qualified to be a 3 hitter, go with the worst option.
  22. Your Chicago Cnbs lineup: Fukudome RF Castro SS DeWitt 2B Aramis 3B Pena 1B Reed CF Soriano LF Soto C Demp P Dont mind the lineup aside from the whole DeWitt hitting 3rd part.
