  1. horsefeathers it, we suck and we're never going to win another game again.
  2. WE HAVE MORE POINTS THAN THE OTHER TEAM, NOW PLEASE, GOD, UNLEASH A STORM TO END ALL STORMS!!!
  3. http://media.giphy.com/media/Aafn9Hdww7wgo/giphy.gif
  4. This is it, boys. The big inning that's going to change everything.
  5. Huh? Rich Hill is good Exactly. My point is that when this team was being put together via rabbits out of hats, most of us didn't even realize that that Rich Hill was in the league, let alone a potentially important piece when we got to the point where we are now.
  6. 90% of your posts appear to be looking for reasons to be unhappy with the Cubs. Things are very bad right now, but the Cubs should be a thing that makes you happy. How can anything that has happened in the last 3 weeks make you happy? Because we're not all manic depressives whose mental well being hinges on a baseball team?
  7. The good news is that worst case scenario, we go into the ASB with a 5 game division lead. Maybe we're not as good as the first 2 months lead us to believe, but we're damn sure not as bad as we've been the past 3 weeks or so. And how ironic will it be when after all that Jed and Theo have done over the past 3 years if the final piece of the puzzle is Rich horsefeathering Hill. horsefeathers it, I'm out. Get some rest. Ass holes.
  8. there is much to do this season and things could still turn out great, but this is absolutely the reason last year's attitude of "well actually we're a year ahead of schedule so who cares what happens" was so infuriating. we had a chance to win last year and did nothing in the nlcs. that's a disappointing outcome. every chance to win is sacred. What if the Tribune bought back the Cubs, fired Jed and Theo and rehired Jim Hendry, who in turn conducted a 3 way trade involving Addison Russell, Wellington Castillo, Eloy Jimenez, and Ian Happ for Matt Garza, C.C. Sabbathia, and Brian McCann? And then a gigantic meteor crashed into earth, wiping out all life, so it didn't matter anyway. That would sure show us for not flipping out a little more over the NLCS.
  9. Nobody. Because who would want any of these losers. Amiright?
  10. Red Sox Acquire Aaron Hill https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/brewers-trade-aaron-hill-red-sox.html I suppose this is kind of notable. Hill's quietly rebounded yet again to the tune of a 1.7 WAR, and Boston sends a pair of prospects- a 20 year old AA 2B and a 27 year old AAA SP. Looks like a pretty fair exchange.
  11. Would yelling make things worse after going 4-11 in our last 15? No, it would fix everything. This has already been established. Well, I guess that all depends on the volume and intensity of the yelling. If it's just a stern but kind lecture, it's not going to get the point across. But if we're talking top of the lungs, vein popping, with some well placed obscenities, that's the only way that they're going to learn that this isn't ok. Because the next step is going to be loss of privileges. This means no TV. This means no I Pad. This means no, you don't get to see Bell, Biv, Devoe with Becky and Stacy next weekend. And you can sit there and pout all you want, but until you learn some respect and start winning some ball games, this is just how it's going to have to be from now on.
  12. Dexter Fowler, Dexter Fowler, Dexter Fowler. For the 1st two months of the season, we had a lead off hitter who got on base like 75% of the time. It's hard not to spark a flame when that happens. Then he came down to earth, then he got hurt. This isn't to say that Dexter's to blame for the struggles so much as the credit he deserves for the 1st few months.
  13. How do you let Nick Markakis single handedly beat you? He's like the worst player on earth.
  14. Come on, Cubs! Let's beat the worst team in baseball!
  15. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=29756 Looks like somebody was getting delirious toward the end.
  16. Saturday Eh, you're right. This was one of those games when it's hard to blame the pen, even Cahill. It wasn't even a bloop and a blast; it was a bloop, another bloop, and a weak fly ball that just happened to take a ride on a particularly strong gust of wind and right into the basket. horsefeathering Tucker Barnhart indeed.
  17. 5-12 since that Cardinals series, yet we still have the best WP in baseball. We must have been really good. *sigh*
  18. If we can't beat the 3rd worst team in baseball, hopefully we can beat the worst tomorrow.
  19. It would be a shame if Cespedes were to fall victim to an outfield collision with Dexter Fowler. A crying shame indeed.
  20. As long as The Yankees are selling off pieces, how about Carlos Beltran? Hitting .296 with a .903 OPS with 19 HR. He's become something of a defensive liability in his twilight years, but he probably wouldn't be much worse than Schwarber would have been in LF. And Fowler-Zobrist-Bryant-Rizzo-Beltran-Heyward-Contreras-Russell is one damn sexy lineup.
  21. Our pitching refuses to let this L slip through their fingers.
  22. The good news is that there's no reason we can't score a good 8-34 runs off this guy and the Reds bullpen. The bad news is that we still have to get through another 5 innings with some combination of Lackey and relievers not named Strop or Rondon.
  23. So now the Reds are teeing off our pitching. That's awesome.
