  1. Diamondbacks Option Shelby Miller To Triple-A https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/dbacks-option-shelby-miller-minors.html I know this was mentioned in another thread, but wow. That's kind of huge, considering the monster package Arizona gave up.
  2. Kind of have to protect Underwood here. Unless he's completely cooked, can't really risk some rebuilding team stashing him at the end of the pen and/or the DL. Only others I'd really protect are Caratini, Paulino, and Pena. Not sure what to make of Rivero. He's been consistent for some years now, but the fact that he's never even entered into the big league discussion makes me wonder. I could see Blackburn and/or Zaz selected, and while you hate to lose cheap rotation depth when you don't have much to begin with, you can't protect everyone. Radamacher could be used as a trade throw in, or he could be selected and become maybe Brandon Guyer. Or not.
  3. As long as he can throw a baseball, he's better than Richard so adding him to the 25-man by then should be no problem. yeah, if he doesn't make the 25 he's probably not making any teams 25 man. Not true at all. Non-contenders have the luxury, such as it is, of using big league roster spots for storage. Contenders can't do that.
  4. [tweet]@CubsDen Dylan Cease asked to be taken out of his game tonight. Arm issue. Uh oh.[/tweet] Asked to be taken out sounds like a see you in 2018 kind of thing. McNutt Maples Johnson Underwood Cease We're like Drew Peterson for high end pitching prospects.
  5. He's been very good all throughout his MiLB career. He's 23, so maybe we'll see him at AA in the near future.
  6. I still say that Ervin Santana's shouldn't be overlooked. He's owed 27mm over the next 2 years, which might not be the worst thing, considering the upcoming free agent SP class.
  7. That's right. We were cobs again there; for a moment. But now we're not. See what I did they're there?
  8. What are the chances that the bottom half of the 9th is as easy for us as the top was for them?
  9. I'm not asking for much here, but I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable if we could add about 5-6 insurance runs here.
  10. If nothing else, it gives us that much more appreciation for David Ross.
  11. KB and Rizz are each OPSng well over 1.000 over this dreadful stretch. I really hope Maddon excuses them from the room during his yelling sessions.
  12. One battler too long. The way the pen's been, you can't blame them for letting him face Bell. But after the 9 pitch walk, they should have brought in a Loog.
  13. Please be good Pedro, Please be good Pedro, please be good Pedro.
  14. He may run like J, but he hits like horsefeathers.
  15. That's 2 full innings with a lead. Now let's build a bigger one. And keep it for more innings.
  16. I love Willson's bat and his fire, but we're going to have to let him play some LF or we're the ones gon' get burned.
  17. KB and Rizz are really reminding me of vintage Canseco and McGwire.
  18. Come on, KB. The way things have been going, if you make it to 3rd, you need to just go for home, regardless of where the ball is.
  19. Great offense and (hopefully temporary) awful pitching will do that. There's also the fact that most of our leads over that stretch have been of the one run variety, which are generally more difficult to maintain than larger ones. Needless to say, the awful pitching makes it that much more difficult.
