  1. One of the troubles with Twitter as a news source is that writers are way to quick to try and spin some guy saids into more than just that. Especially in a calm before the storm time such as this.
  2. Knowing the White Sox, they'll probably decide to go for it and and trade a bunch of prospects for the carcasses of CC Sabbathia and A Rod.
  3. We were pretty excited to score Travis Wood, Ronald Torreyes, and Dave Sappelt for Sean Marshall. And then they went and turned Jeff Samardzjia, Andrew Cashner, Luis Valbuena, Steve Clevenger, 2 months of Ryan Dempster, 2 months of Matt Garza, and 2 months of Scott Feldman into Anthony Rizzo, Jake Arrieta, Addison Russell, Dexter Fowler, Kyle Hendricks, Pedro Strop, and Carl Edwards. Has there ever been a GM that got that much for that little in such a short time span?
  4. Ian Happ sure went from blazing hot to ice cold in no time flat. Last 10 games:.143/.143/.167 with 0/11 BB/K. I'm thinking the kid needs a night off.
  5. When they're about to call a guy up, especially an established big leaguer, don't they tell them to spend their last few minor league games focused more on repetition and working on their weaknesses than getting guys out? So it could be that he was more experimenting than pitching last night.
  6. The problem is that it seems teams are requesting players that are helping our MLB team rather than our guys in the minors, which isn't usually what a contending team is interested in doing. I want to read about a rumor that involves Happ, Torres or even Eloy. True. I think that's one big reason why Cashman is so hot for Schwarbs. He's a major league player but due to his injury he's not a factor this season. It all depends on the other teams' plans going forward. The Yankees aren't doing a fire sale for the purpose of a full blown rebuild. They're loaded with free agents to be, and unfortunately, most of them don't have a lot of value at this time, so they're dangling Miller as well. But they have the foundation and enough payroll coming off the books to be right back in the thick of contention next year, so they're going to seek someone like Schwarber, who can be a part of it. Sellers are asking for big league talent from us because they know we have a glut of young PP talent, but the cupboards bare in terms of pitching prospects. As for the Padres asking for Baez, the Padres are weird.
  7. Vogelbach was fun to follow, but everyone, including Dan knew this was coming. But more importantly, Chris Bosio + <30 yo former top prospect= certified greatness.
  8. Well, he was getting told that he gets to leave Iowa to go play in the major leagues, so I'm sure he wasn't too upset. Not sure where he'll fit in Seattle, at least for now. He won't be unseating Cruz as DH, and Seattle has something of a 1B platoon on Dae-Ho Lee and Adam Lind, which has been good for 26 dongs.
  9. Next time the Mets see us will be in October. From the comfort of their own living rooms.
  10. He looks like another one of those 'if he can find the plate, he could be really good'' type of guys. But going by his 4.9 BB9/15.3 K9 over his minors career, if he can find the plate, he could be really good.
  11. Judging by most of their moves this year, they're just dumb enough to trade for a guy they already have.
  12. You are 100% correct I guess what's so frustrating about the Mets this year is that we've had 2 types of losses: blow outs and the ones that we could have easily won.
  13. Though not a superstitious person, I'm convinced that reveling in the White Sox free fall brought on our bad mojo. Let's just let them suck in peace. At least until we see them next week, by which time they could have beefed up their roster with Casey Kelly, Domonic Brown, and Aubrey Huff.
  14. Both have been out for over a month (Dex 6/16, Soler 6/6.) Wouldn't they normally start a bit lower?
  15. Blackburn's Rule 5 eligible in the winter, and I could see somebody taking him for an audition.
  16. 6 AZL pitchers combined for 1/20 BB/K. It's like they Voltroned into Kerry Wood.
  17. Speaking of the White Sox, Jacob Turner will be making his 2016 debut for them, despite falling somewhere between mediocre and bad in 18 AAA starts.
  18. Normally, he'd net maybe Dan Vogelbach, if we were desperate. But since he just obliterated the White Sox, better throw in Happ and Torres.
  19. I wouldnt mind seeing Hammel in there somewhere At the time of this post, I wouldn't have argued that, but yesterday, he earned a reprieve. For now, anyway.
  20. Happ seems to have hit a bump in the road. .238/.256/.286 with 8/1 BB/K over his past 10 games. And is Pierce Johnson still "struggling," or is he at the point where he's considered just plain bad?
  21. Wood Non-awful Grimm Edwards Lighting in a bottle from Nathan Strop Miller/Chapman Rondon This bullpen would help my nails grow back.
  22. Was this guy a notable signing? The name sounds familiarish, but it could be from my very loose following of the DSL/VSL the past few years. They seem to handle him with kitten gloves; seems to be pulled from games an awful lot, followed by the next few games off. Sounds like the Soler comparisons might extend to his health.
  23. The opposing pitcher of record: Jeff Beliveau. Per his transaction log, Baltimore signed him to an MiLB deal in December, DL'd April 7, activated and assigned to A May 3; 2 1/2 months and 19 games later, can it really still count as a rehab assignment?
  24. Cubs Untouchables* (not necessarily in this order) Kris Bryant Anthony Rizzo Trevor Clifton Addison Russell Kyle Schwarber *compiled by Trevor Clifton's grandmother
