  1. Well it is 6:54. Close enough. Back to Stewart; am I correct in thinking that if someone ha claimed him, we could stick them with the rest of his salary? If so, I guess it makes sense that nobody claimed him.
  2. At 1.8, Travis Wood leads the team in WAR, and is tied for 10th among big league pitchers. As for position players; that would be Beef Wellington with 1.0. We sure could use Sean Marshall in the pen, but that trade looks better and better by the day.
  3. I'm very surprised that nobody wanted Stewart for the price of a roster spot. I wonder how he feels about sushi and the occasional Godzilla attack.
  4. Another day, another blown save; but since that was the 1st ER Russell's given up all season, he gets a mulligan. I didn't realize how good the guys been this season. 2/16 BB/K in just over 13IP.
  5. Nice to see Alcantara go 2-5 with a 2B and 2 BB in the 14 inning marathon. He's been struggling mightily.
  6. Zach Rosscup pitched 3 scoreless innings with 3 K. I could be wrong, but isn't he usually a 1 inning guy? Kind of interesting.
  7. Yep. They didn't even put him in as a pinch hitter last night. He's being treated for cuts and scrapes sustained while attacking a tree which he thought resembled Luis Valbuena.
  8. Ian Stewart just threw up his arms in relief and he doesn't know why.
  9. Looks like this is what Nuts&Gum witnessed Sunday. Very sad.
  10. The Baez concern is causing me some serious inability to get a Soler-boner. Anyone know where I can get some Soler-ialis?
  11. Is their any available insight as to whether there's something in particular that Christian Villanueva's struggling with or if he's just been plain awful?
  12. I think they finally DLd Brett due to the foot thing that had been bothering him.
  13. And Beeler joins Jokisch and Loosen as the latest Tennesse pitcher coming off a string of great starts to get rocked.
  14. Surprised I've yet to see this here as it's from yesterday. He'll play along side Vlad Guerrero, social anxiety disorder alumni Ian Snell and Dontrell Willis, and former top prospect Josh Barfield. Good luck big guy. Remember, gator aid coolers don't grow in trees in the indy league.
  15. Dale Sveum. He's 1 month into his 2nd season and already approaching Sweet Lou in terms of fire-bellied comic relief.
  16. Safe to say that this was the worst day on the farm so far? Basically Torreyes with 2 BB, 1 Javybomb, and a bunch of bad.
  17. For Wood, it'll be when he stops stranding 80% of his runners and doesn't have a 7.4% HR/FB ratio. He's been acceptable, but he hasn't fundamentally changed what kind of pitcher he is or anything. One man disagrees with you @ESPNChiCubs: Sveum called Wood the best pitcher in baseball which stunned Wood to hear
  18. How long before the successes of Wood, Feldman, and Villanueva becomes recognized as something more than luck? Between them and Samardzjia and Maholm last year, someone is doing something very right with our starting pitchers. Maybe it rubs off on the pen.
  19. At 13IP 9/22 BB/K, Frank Del Valle 's been decent.
  20. As I said, he gets 2 million dollars regardless. He's likely doing everything within his rights to be cut without the Cubs being able to file grievance, and then hoping that someone picks him up. While teams are going to notice this behavior, and frown upon it, someone's bound to be tempted to pick up the 27 year old former mega-prospect coming off wrist injury as long as they don't have to give up anything in return.
  21. Someone bust out the Milton Bradley thread.
  22. Any reason why Johnson didn't pitch? I actually got a bit nervous when I saw that score, thinking that it was at his expense.
  23. They were looking at Feldman's hand. Appeared to be a cramp. I knew we should have sold after the 6th.
  24. I'm not sure what he could be griping about. He plays one position. That position is being filled pretty well by a guy who holds his spoon in the same hand as he does. With his salary guaranteed, it could be that he's as passive aggressively hoping to get cut and picked up by another team, thus having his cake and eating it too. Even if nobody's willing to give up anything for him, he could be very intriguing for the price of a roster spot.
