  1. To all teams have this type of thing, or just us? The past few years we've had Carpenter, Sappelt, Stewart, and now Dunston publically gripe about not being promoted.
  2. Probably Brett Jackson or Logan Watkins, simply because they're already on the 40 man. I know Sczcur's on the roster, but as well as he's done and as much as Brett's struggled, they'll likely give Brett at least one more crack at the big league level before passing him over, unless he's included in a trade between now and when that time comes. I really doubt that any starting pitching prospect is brought up anytime soon. Whether it's due tom injury or performance, Even if we trade 2 and shut down/DL 1-2 more to injury, we're likely to replace them with filler like Raley, Rusin, or Struck rather than roster someone else. If you mean simply between minor league levels, I'm going to go with Rock Shoulders. Not only is he crushing the ball, but taking plenty of walks as well. Also, Tennessee really has no meaningful 1st baseman.
  3. With our next 12 games being against .500 teams, and good ones too I'll wait until the end of that stetch to evaluate our record.
  4. Hell, Barney, Valbuena or even Stewart would be an upgrade over any of those guys. Let's make a deal AA.
  5. I actually wouldn't be shocked if they were to option Wood to Iowa(assuming he has options) and resume shopping Garza as soon as he's off the DL. If there's really no hope of extending him, he's a trade chip that must be cashed in, and it will cost someone there spot in the rotation if for just a month or so. Whoeve it is, however needs to remain stretched out as a starter. All of these guys have been too good as starters to move to the pen and risk throwing off their routine. I suppose someone could develope minor injury as well, be it of the legit or the not so much variety and require a short DL stint, which would last 15 days or however long it takes to trade Garza, whichever comes first.
  6. Wow, Feldman may be having the Cubs best starting pitching performance since opening day. Still begs the question; how on Earth is his ERA under 3.00? Has he just given up a ton of unearned runs?
  7. When did Logan Watkins drag his line back up to .271/.885?
  8. Prediction: Cashner shuts the Cubs down for a CG Shutout. Twitter and the radio waves erupt with people claiming him as the Cubs latest biggest mistake ever.
  9. He didn't even have time to unpack. But he did land us Justin Berg, who to my knowledge is still haplessly floating around the organization somewhere.
  10. Haha, love Dunston's .407 BA. Time to reclaim the Shawon-O-Meter from Cooperstown.
  11. It's not often that a player is punished for both too much fire and not enough fire in the same month.
  12. Corey Patterson and professional baseball refuse to give up on one another. However, Randy Wells and professional baseball have. I'm a bit surprised that this actually registered as some level of news, even in the Twitter era.
  13. I think it's safe to assume that if they feel as though Nelson has a chance of living up to his one time expectations that they'd sacrifice Lilibridge or Gonzalez for him without thinking twice.
  14. Ha has quietly put together a very nice line of .313/.417/.413.
  15. If only he could look more like Brent Lilibridge, the Bleachers would be full of his jersey tees.
  16. I mean technically nothing is a bad depth move if all it costs you is an Iowa roster spot, but Chris Nelson is super awful and I want no chance of him appearing on an MLB roster for us at any point. Former first round, top 10 pick. Check. Former top prospect. Check. Under 30 years old. Check. Infiedler. Check. Decent season last year. Check. Mark my words. Unless someone ahead of us claims him, we will. He had a nice offensive season in 2012 to the tune of .301/.352/.458 which was good for a 1.4 oWAR, but had a -2.1 dWAR, which is hard to do unless you're a combination of Adam Dunn and a drunk homeless guy.
  17. Ian Stewart with 3 walks. Brett with 1; and 0 Strikeouts!
  18. While I'm against the shuffling the lineup after every loss thing, I do think it's time to change things around. As long as super-Schierholtz is here, we should be making the most out of it and batting him 3rd, as we have nothing resembling a 3 hitter on this team. I'm not saying that we should go back to the old lineup shuffle every time we lose, but we've certainly had enough indication that it's time to try something new. Vs. Righties DeJesus Soriano Schierholtz Rizzo Castro Valbuena Castillo Barney (Maybe even swap Castro/Castillo if Castro continues to struggle) Vs. Lefties DeJesus Barney Soriano Rizzo Castro Schierholtz Castillo Ransom -Schierholtz' splits aren't as lopsided as I would expect, though has a small sample size vs RHP and Hairston probably couldn't hit Jim Abbott if he were throwing as a righty.
  19. A handful of walks, but otherwise not a very good night on the farm.
  20. I'd be interested in seeing something along the lines of DeJesus, Soriano, Schierholtz, Rizzo, Castro, Valbuena, Castillo, Barney vs. righties for a bit. I don't think that there are many people out there who believe that this .313/.362/.578 slugger is the real Nate Schierholtz, but as long as we don't have anything resembling a big league 3 hitter, may as well ride it out and see what happens.
  21. My God, Starlin's slash line is dropping faster than the weight of a sorority girl that just discovered meth.
  22. I was wondering that too. All 3 pitchers they've faced have been righties, so is wasn't for that.
  23. We should probably enjoy these next 6 games vs. the Marlins and Padres. Between then and the All Star Break, we get a very steady diet of very good teams; Cards (10), Reds (10),Nats, D backs, A's, and Rangers (1 game) as well as The Rockies and Pirates, who may or may not be taken seriously, and the Angels who can't really be as bad as their record suggests, and the White Sox, who may be only a tic better than us, but have owned us over the past few years. They sure love their BP Cup. But at least we get the Astros and Mariners sprinkled in there.
  24. Torrez is in the US but sidelined with some sort of ailment. As the best pitching prospect the Cubs had in the DSL, if he were healthy, he would pitch in the AZL this summer. Hopefully that the ailment is something along the lines of a stomach virus rather than arm related.
