  1. Do we know if Daury Torrez will be joining him or back in the DSL?
  2. Rubi Silva, with a 3B and a HR. Kid's got a nice bat. too bad getting on base doesn't seem to be his thing.
  3. Already aware. I'm not saying that he comes up and OPS' a zillion, but I think he could do what he did with the A's in '08-'10. I also think that if he and Schierholtz were each given a full season of full time play, the results would be very similar. And surely I don't have to explain how he's very much different from LaHair, Fox, and Hoffpauir.
  4. Yeah that one game he hit 4th was too much. 3rd. Sorry. Not that we have anyone that one would expect to see batting 3rd in a big league lineup. At least one that wants to be taken seriously. Unless you you really believe that guy with the .313/.362/.578 slash line is the real Nate Schierholtz. Which I'd very much like to believe. But I don't.
  5. I definitely think that it might be time to give him a break from the 4 spot.
  6. Rock Shoulders cracks #7 in the BA prospect hot sheet, so there's that.
  7. It has to be due to them having him work on one thing in particular. That's usually the case when a guy on a rehab assignment gets smoked in the low levels and is then just fine when they return to the big league club. Maybe they're telling him to stand there with the bat on his shoulder and recognize pitches, and only go after in the zone off speed stuff, and don't go near anythin resembling a straight fastball, which is the bulk of what they throw there. I don't know. Even if he is a complete bust, he's the type that should be annialating PCL pitching and then collapsing when called up. Brent Lillibridge has a line of .462/.533/.462 there for fucks sake.
  8. Ronny Torreyes and his frightfully large mole with a 3B, 2B, and BB
  9. I say skip the next 4 games and just lock Theo and Beinfest in a broom closet until a deal for Stanton is complete and finalized.
  10. They also have Jose Ceda, who I'm pretty sure has been on their 60 day DL since the day we traded him.
  11. All the guys on that list are quality players. Not impact players. Not superstars. The comment it was in response to suggested that we had three guys on the roster that are better than awful. There's a lot of room between impact players and awful.
  12. I feel that Chris Davis was one of the names discussed as possible 1B options in the 2012 offseason. Not sure if it was ever more than media speculation though.
  13. Nick Green? As in Nick Green? He was Brent Lillibridge before Brent Lillibridge was Brent Lillibridge. But at as awful as they are, they have 2 guys in Stanton and Fernandez, who if they were aggressively shopped could likely bring back an entire starting lineup of players not put together by the ex-showgirl widow of their former owner in an attempt to move the team to. Er. Miami.
  14. For christ sake Well, that, and the idea there's only three players there doing anything. But DeJesus, Schierholtz, Wood, Villanueva, Jackson, Castillo, Valbuena, Soriano, Barney, Russell, and Rondon don't count. Not sure why though. But they don't. It is what it is.
  15. Intriguing or too close to another you know who? Hint: rhymes with Bamzano.
  16. Link? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130423&content_id=45580864&notebook_id=45632990&vkey=notebook_chc&c_id=chc they were saying on the score that it's not anticipated to be anything serious, i guess. And havn't they been saying that since last July when we saw him being examined by the trainer in the dugout?
  17. Judging by what we currently have going forward and what we learned today, our best bet might be to see how hard The Marlins would bend us over to get Stanton. He's under control through 2017. He'd be insanely costly, but at this point he could be our only hope as far as realistic options go. We'd be lucky to get away with giving up only 1 of our top 3, but it's probably what needs to be done and I trust our guys to restock the farm system.
  18. Anyone out there have the collective ERA/WHIP of our starting pitchers over the past 3 series?
  19. If this were Sullivan, I'd pass it off as trolling. With Muskat I give her the benefit of the doubt that it's sheer stupidity.
  20. I should have said what last year's team actually did. And I don't mean the post-July disaster that sprinted to 100 losses.
  21. The price we pay for our moment of happiness.
  22. Kevin Gregg with the save. Cody Ransom 2-4 with a 2B and a HR. To hell with going young; what we need is more mid 30s reclamations.
  23. Some people were. Plenty weren't. I think even the biggest supporters of building "the right way" were pretty iffy on being a bad team in 2014. Right; even most of the people accepting that 2012 "had" to be terrible seemed to be talking like there would be clear improvement in 2013 on the path to them actually being competitive in 2014. Anyone saying they were expecting/fine with/welcoming 2-3 years of terrible baseball are either lying or masochists. On paper, the 2013 team is a huge improvement. We've had an awful 4 game stretch, but before that the offense was doing well and starting pitching has been great. I'm not saying by any means that 2-3 years of suckage is necessary to win in 2013. Hell, if we had signed Fielder, Cespedes, and Darvish and the farm system could still pretty much be in it's current state, maybe minus the guys we got last summer. What I am saying is that the organization as a whole seems to be shaping up as per their plan. And I expect some bigger moves to come between this summer and the next 2 offseasons. And if the plan does seem to be falling flat by 2015, I could also see a ridiculous splurge out of desperation.
  24. Gotta respect Sveum for putting in Gregg just to prevent Marmol from getting an undeserved W.
