  1. Just when I thought I was out, he pulls me back in. I was never truly out; even throughout his extended slump, which has been basically the month of May he managed to hold an OPS in the mid .700's.
  2. I'm going to guess that Garza is extended by the end of the season. Just for Fun; This all several weeks before deadline -DeJesus: his 2014 team option adds value. Random prediction: sent to win now or die trying Detroit along with Marmol for Avisail Garcia and 2 PTBNL/lottery tix -Soriano: we eat 95% of his salary to TB for Tim Beckham and Jeff Niemann to the delight of many and the chagrin of many others. -Large deal with A's involving Feldman, Vogelbach, Vitters for Jarrod Parker, among others. And at the deadline: With a combination of our prospects and those acquired via these trades, Theo pulls a rabbit out of his hat named Giancarlo Stanton without giving up Soler, Almora, Baez, or Johnson.
  3. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Kyler Burke's been 25 for several years now.
  4. Don't worry, they'll go on another 7-5 run sometime in the next few weeks-months.
  5. Damned if AA isn't making up for lost time. Any chance we see Soler, Almora, Baez, Vogelbach, Johnson, and Maples at the same level at some point for the ultimate raging prospect boner?
  6. In other news, after last night, Cubs non-signing Anibal Sanchez has a 2.38 ERA, 1.119 WHIP, and 17/80 BB/K in 64.1 IP. But it's OK. E Jax is...somethinger than him.
  7. Not for me. It's just the fact that they are secretly ok is probably irrelevant because they are buried way too deep now. While the damage is likely done for this season, it does make me want to bring back more guys for next year than I originally did. Most notably Garza, Feldman if he's willing to sign something in the 2/10 range, and Valbuena.
  8. All I ask is that Wood has another strong outing and that Castro and Rizzo have big games.
  9. While Rock Shoulders seems to be mired in a month long slump, I have to like the fact that he's still managing to keep up his OBP; a lot of guys his age might be flailing at everything they see in order to break out of it.
  10. Did we know about this guy, or was it a total ninja move? First I've heard of him, I feel that a $3.1M bonus guy would have had more press.
  11. At least for the professionals. Those bushers over in Cincinatti, not so much.
  12. So I take it that good will toward Cubs is officially over until the next slightly above averag streak?
  13. Jim didnt even almost answer Steve's question.
  14. Daytona's 1-2 punch of Baez and Soler is the best we have, but it's hard to argue against KC in terms of depth.
  15. Can't complain about Yeiper's AA debut; 6 IP 0/7 BB/K 3 H 1 ER
  16. He is a tough one, but you do have to factor in he has 6 triples already and 13 SB (out of 16). I think he's definitely more valuable than Campana at this stage in his career and probably Fuld too. So yeah, I guess I'm saying I think he could be worth something even on the small trade chip valuable side. What really intrigues me about him is that he's 6'1, 215 lbs and puts together the slash line of those a 5'9 170 lb scrappers. Makes me wonder if there's some power still to come.
  17. He could very well make some mid season top 20-30 lists. Especially taking consideration the overall meh-ness that we've gotten from the majority of our pitching prospects. If he keeps this up, I'd be surprised if he wasn't on everyone's top 30 lists. I mean, heck, I think you can make a case for top 15 right now in our system. A long way to go until we need to think about mid-season lists, though. Whenever I see a fringe, or at least not particularly notable pitching prospect, I try to compare their stats with those of guys who ultimately became filler; In their 1st full season at AA: Casey Coleman(22): 3.5/5.1 BB/K 1.38 WHIP Chris Rusin(24?) 1.9/5.8, 1.298 Brooks Raley(23) 3.0/5.3 1.577 Kyle Hendricks (23) 1.9/7.3 1.065 Obviously, Hendricks has only had 9 starts, but at this point, it's more than SSS. My not so expert analysis is that we may have something here; at least something more than filler.
  18. Nice game for Lendy after he stepped in for the battered Maples. 5 IP 5 H 2/8 BB/K
  19. He could very well make some mid season top 20-30 lists. Especially taking consideration the overall meh-ness that we've gotten from the majority of our pitching prospects.
  20. And his 2014 team option could make him our best trade chip.
  21. More frustrating than anything. You'd think that when you have a pitcher with outstanding stuff and solid control, he's at least a guy that can keep his team in the game.
  22. I'm very torn as to whether or not I should acknowledge John Andreoli despite his comical lack of power for a guy his size. He has Sam Fuld or Tony Campana''s numbers in Justin Upton's frame.
