  1. Neither Lake nor Jackson are can't miss guys that u risk ruining if u bring them up for 3 weeks. I think anything u get from either is a bonus. So yo-yoing them is ok by me to some extent. Dont see the point of wasting time on Bogusevic at this point. Sappelt is a different story but one that has been read before. Sorry. Wasn't thinking in terms of September. I thought you meant if the need for a body arrises, and one that wouldn't necessarily see much PT at that. If we're talking September, or even July/August once some starting players have been moved, then Lake or Jackson would be the guys.
  2. I think it depends on what they need. If they're looking for a body to fill in, due to injury or trade, Bogusevic or Sappelt' are the likely choices. Bogusevic is essentially here as a spare part, and Sappelt may have sucked his way out of any future role, even as a 4th-5th OF.Jackson and Lake are both going to be used more cautiously as both figure into the future.
  3. Any chance that Lake's called up by the 2nd half? He plays 3B and I believe all 3 OF spots. With 3-4 starters at said positions being LH, he'd have plenty of playing time. Especially once those starters start going their seperate ways in the next few weeks or so.
  4. I'll take a slump-breaking Castro infield single.
  5. He's at least 22 and in A-ball... not sure how excited to be about that... Because that kind of K% and K/BB are always exciting? And that suspension explains why he's a year behind. But mostly, the BB/K's are a special kind of sick.
  6. Candelerio with a 2B, OPS up to .753.
  7. Brett with an early HR. OPS back over .700.
  8. I was just thumbing through the top 20 of various potential buyers, and the Yankees' #20 is a 22 year old A Ball SP named Rafael De Paula who was first signed in 2008 but served a 1 year suspension to to identity issues. Anyway, his 2013 line in 59IP 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 22/90 BB/K. Want!
  9. If the casual fans get wind of the fact that Arismendy Alcantara exists before Castro remembers how to hit or get on base, the Free Arismendy Alcantara movement will be an overbearing one.
  10. A right handed OF is something that we could really use. But it's too bad; from what I've heard, Lake's IF arm is the best single tool in our system.
  11. I think Castro getting on base a few times would trump all at this point.
  12. Barret Loux was pulled after 3 innings and 39 pitches for some reason.
  13. And Junior Lake 2-2 with a 2B. Good night so far.
  14. Cougers done snapped. Almora 3-4, Candelerio 2-3 with a HR each.
  15. Castro's a bad week away from a sub .600 OPS, so we have that going for us.
  16. Maybe I'm a bit off, or even way off on the price. But I stand by my stance that due to lack of internal options and the likely cost of viable external options, he's a guy I'd be very intersted in keeping around for a few years while we wait for Soler and Almora to make their way up. The OF depth chart would look like this; LF Soriano/comparable righty (Vitters?) Sweeney CF Sweeney Righty (Lake? Sappelt? Ha?) RF Schierholtz Righty (Lake? Sappelt? Ha?)
  17. Ugh, Starlin really needs to get hot or else he's a pair of tatoo sleeves away from Ronny Cedeno.
  18. Very impressed that we managed to get 4 top 100 guys in the first 4 rounds. Chances we sign all 4?
  19. Ewww. Bust. What does this mean? movie looks dumb Ah, had no idea we were talking about a movie (was afraid he was talking about his... little Tyler). The Purge? Never heard of it Stupid looking home invasion thriller with Ethan Hawke. Looks like it would appeal to those who drive large pickup trucks and are excited by the sound of their horn.
  20. new market inefficiency Utah based returned missionaries are due for a big splash. Our boys are always a step ahead.
  21. If the Cubs take him in the 2nd round and take Zscaszrzkrazzr in the 4th, I'm pretty happy with this draft. So if both sign, you should be happy.
  22. The 22 year old freshman part strikes me as odd. But hey, I'd rather they take that type of gamble here than with the first rounder.
  23. I've always wondered that. You'd think teams would be ready with as many backup plans as their are teams before them. It makes sense in the NFL and NBA where you can trade the pick away, but not here.
