  1. It comes to the needs of the buyers. To a team looking for a rental in which they don't have to mortgage their farm system, Garza's the best option. However, guys like Price or Gallardo may also be available, and any team would love to get them, there's a much smaller market due to the number of teams that can afford what they'd cost due to the years under team control and the amount of money left on the contract.
  2. Must be in effort to up Ransom's value from throw in to slightly more attractive throw in.
  3. Is this a legitimate concern of yours or Only The Cardinals mockery?
  4. There's a guy that Theo might be interested in reclaiming. Not sure what the Red Sox are in the market for.
  5. Looks like there's a pretty good chance that Rammy celebrates his 35th B Day by collecting his 2,000th hit. Good for him.
  6. My guess is that Marmol "slides" trough waivers, bad pun intended and is soon after dealt for yet another PTBNL or Cash.
  7. Reading the article that he's gone 10 minutes ago. That's just sad. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. No, bliss is no longer having to watch Marmol pitch. He certainly had some good years (2007-2010) but he has run his course in Chicago. I won't miss him and if that means I'm "ignorant" then so be it. The Cubs employed one of the best relievers in baseball with the most ridiculous slider ever, and the only thing that you enjoy about it is him being released? That's just ignoring anything that happened more than a year ago (and the textbook definition of ignorant). Not only was he one of the most dominant relievers, but he was flat out enjoyable to watch whether he was logging a 1-2-3 inning or walking the bases loaded and then making the next 3 guys look like 5 year olds haplessly flailing at a piñata.
  8. I meant why isn't he in Iowa. Was too busy trying to make myself care about the Blackhawks at the time. Obvious reasons why he's not on big league club.
  9. Is there any particular reason that Alberto Cabrera is still in Iowa? I certainly hope it has nothing to due with the mopes in their current rotation.
  10. For all practical purposes, he's our starting RF. He's in a 3 way tie for 1st in WAR among Cubs position players, as little as damning praise as that may be. As long as his price tag for next year is around $4MM, there's no rush to move him.
  11. does the fact that he's arbitration-eligible next year make him more valuable? not sure what his price tag would inflate to as Arb3, but he'd still be a good bargain at $4m or whatever given his current production. The question is will teams buy into his production enough to make an offer worth giving up one of our few productive hitters? Maybe he's another DeRosa who just needed a full time opportunity, or maybe he's just another guy playing above his head. If other teams view him as the former and are willing to give up the type of return to make it worth out while, great. If not, there's no point selling in the middle. We do need to field a team next year and the farm's not exactly oozing big league ready players.
  12. Barrett Loux used in relief this evening. Kind of interesting.
  13. Nice to see a big game from Rizzo. Now if only Starlin Castro were still alive.
  14. At 22, Ha must be one of the younger guys in all of AAA, no?
  15. Is right calf strain what they're referring to as suck these days?
  16. Of course not. The unusual part of that sequence of events was Dempster being difficult, not how the Cubs ended up with a guy like Vizcaino. I suspect that the two sides had that deal on the back burner all along in case the Dempster deal fell apart, or at least shortly after the turbulence began. That could be why they were willing to hold out as long as they did without moving on to another team all together.
  17. Yup. I'm thinking that you have to either sign into a Google before submitting or else it becomes an a anonymous submission and you can't get back to it.
  18. In other struggling young player news the Royals future seems to be stuck in neutral;, Moustakas with a .202/.566, Hosmer .281/.722 with 3 HR, Escobar .251/.614.
  19. Ronny Cedeno's an Astro too? Is there anyone they won't let play for them?
  20. Castro with hits in back to back games. Slight signs of life are better than no signs of life.
  21. Currently with a 2.73 ERA, 0.973 WHIP, 20/59 BB/K in 62.2 IP.
  22. I forgot about Rosscup. Officially bumps out Jackson.
  23. A lot of difficult choices, and in a good way. I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of lost on most of the 2013 picks aside from Bryant. Beyond that, from what I can gather, it goes Skulina, Masek, Z. And not to nitpick, but 1. Isn't Whitenack gone from the system? 2. while neither make my list, wouldn't Jokisch (not listed) be ahead of Loosen (listed)?
  24. I always thought that Soler had the insane offensive upside but Baez was ranked above him do to his overall game.
  25. What do they even have left after they gave up most of their system to the Mets and Marlins? A raw 18-20 year old filled top 20 and a win now or die mentality. A perfect match.
