  1. Larroche pulls Buckner. Time to make thm pay and get the ball to Marmol.
  2. Cubs need to start treating opposing pitchers just like anyone else in the linup, as they've been kicking our ass on the mound and at the plate lately.
  3. Joe Carter-Sure, he didnt hit much for average, but he had 10 100 RBI seasons.
  4. Derrek Lee. He did it to himself though. Everyone was happy with him being a .280 30 HR type of guy, and then he had to go and have himself a Pujolsesque 2005, and all of the sudden the fans expect it every season.
  5. How did sam Fuld beat out Kroeger and Craig? He hit .269 with 2 home runs. All 3 of these guys are at older end of "prospect"s, so why did they chose the most mediocre of the 3? I for one am curious to see Tyler Colvin, but I may have to wait few years.
  6. I have a feeling that Jim did a lot of persuasion. Otherwise the contract would have been done a lot sooner than it was. Remember, Jim, Z, and Pavner all wanted it done a long time go.
  7. Hendrys made a lot of boneheaded moves in his stint with the Cubs, and people have been calling for his head for a while now. Hes spent money freely, sometimes paying off, sometimes not. Zambrano, however could be the final nail in his coffin. Everyone advised against Hendry puttin out the big bucks for someone to pay who isnt even known yet. Everyone fom the Trib to Selig warned Hendry from splurging, but he wouldnt listen. The fans however called for an extension. Finally, he listened to the voice of the fans and signed Big Z to a big deal in the midst of the worst stretch of his career. Last night, Z bottomed out. Hopefully, it will be a wake up call for Carlos and he'll dominate through the rest of the season. If not, it may finally be the end of the Jim Hendry era, and nobody will be able to blame Owner X from doing so including Big Z or Hendry himself.
  8. With Monroe signed through '08, and Soriano, Pie, Murton, and Jones as well as DeRosa when needed I cant see any new outfielders joining the team. As a matter of fact, if there are any off season aquisitions, it would be a reliever or a utility man, and even thats more likely to come fro the farm. With all the money that Hendry has spent of this yet to be decided owner, I wouldnt expect the '08 team to look much different than this one. Unless Cuban ends up buying. Id would like to keep Kendall if he'll sign a 1 year deal, maybe with a mutual option knowing hes keeping the seat warm for Soto, but then of course we'll have to move Blanco, which shouldnt be tough as a quality back up catcher is a valuable commodity.
  9. Kerry Wood-tough one. I cant see any owner in their right mind paying this guy with his injury history Jason Kendall-Id like to see him back. Blanco isnt a starting catcher, and he never will be, and we dont know what to expect from Soto. However, again with the new owner factor, I cant see them signing a guy his age. Scott Eyre-Hopefully he'll be back. I know, hes had a rough go of it, but the only other lefty in the bulpen is Ohman, and I like to think they'll find a way to move him one way or another. Daryle Ward-Hes been a pretty money pinch hitter. If he can be had for cheap, Id like to see him back. Cliff Floyd-Logic points to no. If he has anything left in him, it will be DHing in the AL.
  10. After 2003, the feeling was they had that hunger and were going to do whatever it took to build off of that team and make it back the next year. We all remember how that turned out. 4 years later, and the only players left from that team are Ramirez, Zambrano, and Wood(who is a shell of his '03 self). Hopefully they've learned that they can throw around all the money in the world, and its only going to take you so far.
  11. Carlos now says he'll never forget the way the Cubs faihfull turned on him this afternoon. I dont blame him, considering he's the first player ever to be bood after a string of lousy performances.
  12. Hopefully Traschel can give us 6 or at least 5, and the offense can get a little something done against Penny. Marmol and Howry are both rested, as is Wood if it comes down to that. Marshall will also be ready in the pen for some long relief if needed. They just need to come out swinging those bats.
  13. What does that even mean? Maybe we're thinking about the fact that someone, who as of yet is unnamed is going to pay him 92 million dollars to do a job that hes doing horribly? I dont care if your a burger flipper at White Castl or an Attorney at a major firm, if you go a month performing like Carlos has, you wont keep your job for long.
  14. Hes given up at least 6 runs in every start since the one where he was pulled early with heat crmping. Either theres something wong with him or he just plain sucks.
  15. He also did one for the Indians while they remain in first. they've been mediocre at best as of late.
  16. Hey, I wouldnt mind if Kenny were to get Eckstein out of St. Louis. That littl bastard alwasy does us in. Maybe he can go after Adam Dunn while hes at it.
  17. Woody has 1 win in 11 starts at Wrigley field. Then again, thats pretty much his record everywhere. The offense will be the main factor in this one.
  18. Usually, whn you havnt made the majors past you 25th birthday, thats not a good sign.
  19. Ohman, Cedeno, Gallagher, Patterson, and Soto called up. Fox left out for some reason. Youd think that the Cubs would want anyone with the slightest stitch of power, but I guess Fox was too far in Lous dog house for some reason. And of course, Cedeno was nothing short of spectacular in his 2 laughable stints in the bigs, meanwhile Patterson will be relagated to occasional pinch running duties, Gallagher will come in when Zambrano, Marquis, Marshall, ans Lilly melt down in the 3rd, and Ohman will do the same thing he did the rest of the season and act as the teams official rally killer. Sotos the only one Im excited about. Hopefully he'll get a few starts.
  20. The announcer have beem brining it up for months now. I guess Derrek and Gerald Perry are the only ones who havnt noticed. I guess Geralds too busy teaching Cliff Floyd and Daryle Ward to hit singles instead of homers.
  21. I dont know if I can any more of Cedenos failure at the big league level. Same story every tim. Puts up great minor league stat, and when he gets the call, he fails. Keep him in Iowa, and let him play some winter ball and give him another tryout in March. As for Ohman, I hate to say it, but Id rather have Cotts. I dont care how many has beens and never will bes Ohmans baffled in Iowa.
  22. The way Marmol throws, if he started, hed throw his arm out by early May.
  23. Great, we're up against an unknown with an ERA in th high 4s. That usually spells trouble for the Cubbies, especially coupled with the lefty factor and the fact that he Cubs have scored 6 runs in their last 4 games with the Disastros. Yikes. But at least we have Trashel back.
  24. So I take it we wont be seeing Will Oh Man again.
