  1. Maybe we can also score Carl Pavano, Rocco Baldelli, and a bunch of other guys who will never play a ful season.
  2. AKA Angel Guzman. Does he still have a future in the organization? Id rather have hime start over Dempster, proven or unproven.
  3. darn. now I guess Hendry will have to go out and get someone his team actually needs. The question remains will the Astros get the crap Matsui the Mets had, or the one with the Corrs Field inflated stats the Rockies had.
  4. As long as Dusty doesnt bogart both Neifi and Jose Macias, he could be ours.
  5. Hill, Pie, Colvin, Samardzia and Veal shoukld do the trick. Too much? Depends on how long of an extension hed be given.
  6. Yet another stop on the long journey of a career minor leaguer.
  7. Is this a Borat joke? If it was, it wasnt very funny.
  8. The fact is that the Cubs organization has put too much time and money into him to just let someone else have him. If hes even a shell of what he was supposed to be its worth it, especially with the lack of quality pitching out there. If he sucks, just suck it in, wait it out, and let him sign a minor league deal with the Orioles in 2 years.
  9. Nobody particularly interesting, giving the likes of Andre Dawson, Mark McGwire, and Goose Gossage another chance, but lets take a look at some of these first timers shall we? -Chuck Knoblauch?-Seriously? -Brady Anderson?-You gotta be kidding. -Robb Nen?-This is a joke right? -Travis Fryman?-Someone needs to explain to me the qualifications to get on this ballot, cause I was under the impression that it supposed to be the best of the best. -I love Shawon Dunston, but if hes elected to the Hall, I will personally hunt down everyone on this board and by them a drink. Im bracing myself for 5 years from now when Neifi is on the ballot.
  10. The fact is, there are teams that know they arent contenders. Royals, D-Rays, Pirates, etc. The Twins are about to enter that realm, especially if they move Santana, in which case going after a guy like Rolen, who would be a short term answer would be pointless to them, especially when theyd be better off developing and trading for young players. Its worked wonders for Detroit and Cleveland.
  11. I cant imagine that a team thats in the very beginning of a rebuilding process would have much interest in a player as broken down as Rolen. I doubt that they consider themselves contenders with Cleveland, Detroit, and even the Sox, so theres no logic behind them going after a rent-a-player.
  12. It is indeed a dark day for Twins fans. First Hunter, next the inevidable departure of their ace. How many years before Morneau and Maur are eligable for free agency?
  13. Why? Henry can throw out more guys and maybe not hit for contact as much but certainly hit for more power. I don't think Kendall would have accepted a backup role, either. Having Henry (who is a prototypical backup catcher) is a great thing for Geovany Soto. Lou won't be as tempted to used Blanco if Geo goes into a slump, Henry won't be bitter about riding the bench, and will be a good mentor. keep in mind, Blancos making 2.8 mil in '08, making him untradeable, but not enough of a liability to warrant eating that much money by DFAing him. Soto earned the job, making Kendall obsolete.
  14. The Cubs.com roster isn't always accurate. I doubt he'd be released. He is eligible for the Rule 5 draft, though. All the better for him. He needs to move on. Hes like 27 or 28, and in prospect years, thats over the hill. With D Lee not likely going anywhere soon, Hoffpuir wont be getting the opportunity here, so he may as well go somewhere he can get a shot at the bigs. Who knows, he could be the next Jason DuBois, or even David Kelton.
  15. Apparently, they didnt get the memo that hes over the hill and an overall liability.
  16. Let me just say that Miguel Cabrera plays 3rd base, and is the one 3rd baseman in all of baseball lasier than our own.
  17. Fuk U Dome-Watch out any teams with indoor ball parks.
  18. I know ive been against it in the past, but now that I think about it, nobodys seriously persuing him. He may not hit for avg, but we could use a mindless home run hitter at the heart of theorder, who happens to be an amazing fielder. Plus, like every power hitter, he kills the ball at Wrigley. Im just saying, if we cant land Fukodome or pull off a trade.
  19. Carlos Marmol may have only gotten one vote, but thats one more vote than Will Ohman will ever get.
  20. Ty Cobb grew up in turn of the century Georgia. It would be more a surprise if he didnt grow up a bigot.
  21. Todds one of those guys whose not good enough to be an everyday starter, but too good to be bench player, so its hard for teams to find a place for a guy like that. Also, while he can play several different position defensively, hes not very good at any of them. Im sure he'll catch on somewhere this Spring. Its strange how he was just starting to find his groove in Oakland when they dumped him.
  22. This according to Rotoworld. Fukudome is supposed to be huge, but I dont know much about Hiroki Kurodo. The problem with going after these Asian players is that your just as likely to end up with a Hideki Irabu or Hee Sop Choi as you are a Hideki Matsui or Ichiro. Who was that mega bust that the Dodgers got a few years back? I think he was a third baseman.
  23. The AFL Hall of Fame. The Arizona League Hall of Fame?!? What the hell is the point of that?
  24. I like how the entire Brewers infield is toward the top of the trailors lists.
  25. Not quite sure the point of Koyie Hill coming back. With Soto the obvious starter, and Blanco making some ridiculous amount of money for a back up catcher whose lucky to hit above .200, hes virtually untradeable. At least of Koyie were to try to sign with a lesser team, hed have a chance of making the bigs as a backup.
