  1. More like we just Olt to give up on him already.
  2. The big boys finally brought the sunshine.
  3. Good for him but I hope he concentrates on baseball, and uses protection. So you're saying he should wear a raincoat???? YES BUT NOT FOR RAIN!
  4. For some reason Dejesus is in left and Lake is in center tonight.
  5. What did he use, 5 wood? That swing is ridiculous.
  6. Might just be wishful thinking on the part of a Boise sports reporter though. I doubt the playoffs would factor into the front office's decision, if that's what he's implying. Yeah, that would be a weird reason to stop a college player from moving up from short season to A+. That's an important and necessary step, and just keeping him around to enjoy a Boise playoff run is something only a Boise specific homer is going to think about.

  8. http://itsaboutthemoney.net/archives/2013/08/12/the-all-homegrown-mlb/ The homegrown only teams, which obviously winds up being a really awful cubs team.
  9. That is a big if. How does Rizzo's bat rate as a mediocre at best defensive LF?
  10. That sucks, I don't see the problem with having a surplus of talent, but I guess with finite resources it makes sense to not overload at a position you have a 'cornerstone' signed to a long term deal already. It's also the position where you are that, or nothing. You generally don't shift 1B around the field. Having 2 of pretty much everything else is manageable.
  11. I'll be here all week, remember to tip your waitresses.
  12. There is a NY Post headline dying to coming out of this tweet.
  13. It's certainly set up to be his job, but he has literally done nothing that would indicate he should get it. Well, he has more than doubled his July OPS in August, but that is still below 600.
  14. Three botched shotgun snaps so far in practice today. No further explanation on whose fault it was. The guy who thought Garza was worth keeping.
  15. There isn't really a list of sports I've taken up watching besides the ones I watched when I was a kid, so it's tough to compare. The only team I care about now that I didn't as a kid is the USMNT, but that doesn't count since I'd root for any US-based team if I followed the sport they played. To me, becoming a fan of something is what happens when you are a kid, and then it just sticks with you. I can't really force myself to be a fan of a team. Those 7:45 games are the whole reason I got into the sport, since I was waking up with the baby already and needed something on in the background while she played.
  16. I think the Reed Johnson comps on Szczur could be fairly accurate. I don't think things would be horribly wrong if we wound up with a Reed type as a 4th OFer, but saying that-I figure Szczur has his major league career elsewhere. Reed Johnson comps? Sczur is 24 with a SLG way under .400 at AA. When Reed Johnson was a 24 year old in the Southern League he hit .314/.383/.451. Sczur may still have a major league career but he's more of a 25th guy on the roster than a 4th OF. I think a quality reliever is more valuable than a guy with Szczur's profile.
  17. It's also a very fast-paced league. Which is good for soccer fans, much less those new to the game. Watch EPL games and I'm pretty confident most sports fans would enjoy it and naturally start rooting for a team. I'm about 4 years into watching the EPL with regularity, and while I enjoy it, I've yet to really pick up rooting for any one team. I've followed Dempsey's teams a bit, and at any given time I've found myself rooting for or against a team, depending on the situation, but still no real team I follow and care about. Kind of awesome that it kicks off this week.
  18. Like any job, once you've established your value it's pretty easy to get time off. I imagine it is a priority for him when he negotiates his deal. He's not an up and comer or trying to impress his employer, or next employer. Peter King still bitches about a job that allows him months of vacation and millions in compensation, cutting into his time off.
  19. Let's not say anything we're going to regret. Ellett is pretty bad though, I was in the car for the Navarro collision and it was painful listening to him add details every 3 minutes while Keith filled the dead air with "at this point" ramblings. I'm not sure why Sirott wouldn't get these games. Is this Dave Eanet?
  20. what is this voice I am hearing on wgn radio?
  21. Not sure, I haven't seen the data. He could have an unreasonably low BABIP weighing down the numbers.
  22. I think he meant before he died.
