  1. That is a very weird question. Why? The only "evidence" that could exist if it existed would be a quote from Samardzija saying he does not want to play here any longer because the Cubs suck and for a variety of reasons that sort of direct quotable evidence isn't going to exist. There's been a hell of a lot of indications that he is frustrated with the Cubs and wants out. At the very least he is in no hurry to commit to a franchise that has shown zero interest in competing.
  2. I'm guessing they still need the bodies to man the OF.
  3. False. They're close, but false. Ruggiano: .247/.354/.395/.749 OPS+=104 with 2 HR and 8 RBI Schierholtz: .251/.301/.470/.770 OPS+ =107 with 21 HR and 68 RBI I'm not sure what obscure stats you're looking at, but Nate certainly had better numbers last year. Nate has the SLG but Ruggiano has the much more important 53 point lead in OBP. I'm sure the "obscure" non-RBI stats also have something to say.
  4. I was so desperate it would not have taken much to make me think he could stick.

  6. It hurts to drop Javy that far, but I pretty much agree with this. I actually might put Almora a few slots lower than that, though. Schwarber at 3? Baez's year has been depressing but he is still a guy who did great in AA a full year younger than Schwarber is now, and he plays SS.
  7. Kap is a dope but Hollandsworth should know better. He's a terrible human being. What the [expletive] is their [expletive] problem. This team is a collection of flaming garbage, yet they waste time complaining about one of the few good players who actually has a future with this team. Yet I'm sure they cried tears of sad boners when Bonifacio went down because he's fast. Classic old school coach/father figure mentality. They complain because they care? You should start to worry when they stop complaining about you?
  8. Jose Bautista then? 23.5% K% at age 26 with the Pirates, Mike Olt is at 36.7% this year. The point more being I think he was thought to have blown his chance early on. And if nobody had given him another chance, he'd have been thought of like Olt years later. I know the point you are trying to make, it is just a terrible point with a bad example. The point that I am making is that Darwin Freaking Barney is not preventing Olt from doing anything. Olt's shittiness is why he doesn't play as much as some would hope, not Darwin Freaking Barney.

  10. I am arguing against the notion that Barney is [expletive] blocking Olt. Olt had his chance to whip his [expletive] out and do something with it but he blew it. Barney's sucking has nothing to do with Olt's [expletive]. Not saying Olt is good at all, but it's possible for guys to blow it early in their careers and, you know, get better. Again, not saying Olt is that guy, but it happens. A lot. Olt will be 26 in two months. And it's his first shot at a full MLB season. Age ≠ Experience Lack of experience ≠ upside.

  13. I don't know, but on the beach last week I heard a Phillies fan say the Cubs hadn't run a road series in 5 years. I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't true.
  14. Russell for closer!!! Get him some saves then trade him.

  16. sweet delayed action on that goal
  17. Where at? I recall talk about doing a game at Nationals Park. Would be surprised if Chicago got another outdoor game so soon. They used 11 teams last year. Pittsburgh has done 3 since 2008 and has sort of lost its luster, plus they played Washington the last time. The Rangers played twice last year. Philly might be the next most popular, and nobody cares about them. The Blackhawks might be the biggest draw in the league right now, or they could bring back the Kings. But I wouldn't be surprised if any team that went last year go another so soon. I meant hosting again so soon. It wouldn't surprise me if the Hawks play on the road. They are obviously a huge draw. Oh, well it's already been announced that Washington is hosting next year.
  18. And Edwin Jackson..Can't wait until they dump both those losers..Why the [expletive] don't they just play Valbuena at 2B and Olt at 3B? Either let Olt play or just send him down..Barney is such a [expletive] block. Because Mike Olt is [expletive] terrible at baseball i guess in the end i'll take watching the guy whose minimal positive value comes from dingers over the one who makes the occasional sweet diving stop One's desire for wanting Barney gone should have nothing to do with Olt. They've let him play and he has played poorly, because he's not good.
  19. They control him for 3 more years, don't they?

  22. This started with a comment suggesting the lineup was fine but the pitching staff was what was keeping this team from being competitive. Unless the pitching staff takes a huge nosedrive, they won't be the ones preventing this team from competing. It is still on the lineup to improve. Relying on three newcomers to produce right away, all three at positions they aren't experienced playing, is at least as questionable as anything else about next year's chances to "compete".
