  1. Well they are British, one of which played for England. Well yeah but it's like a local announcer calling his team's game on a national broadcast. Usually they go out of their way to be impartial. Only when they expect to be broadcasting to the opposing team's fans.
  2. you know how I know Uruguay? You play soccer.
  3. somebody on uruguay is having a heart attack
  4. they're actually in 5th (4th for drafting purposes).
  5. What does that mean? I was asking if there are auto-bids per group, or if it was just top 16 teams out of the 32 what the F is an auto bid? They are playing games right now to determine who goes to the next round. This is how tournaments work.
  6. Every group advances two teams to the knock out round. This is the point of the group stage. To determine who advances. What happens if the entire group is deadlocked, both in record and GF/GA? I know that's extremely unlikely, but there must be a rule in place for it. it's called tie breakers.
  7. I don't know man, I can imagine a more vague rumor. I mean, he included an actual player's full name.
  8. What does that mean?
  9. I get that and generally agree with your more reasoned statement. What I'm taking exception to are the flat statements made above that he absolutely will not resign with the team because we have not tried hard enough or something. You get that and agree with his reasoned statement yet you still question the existence of indications that he wants out? It's not a matter of there being so circumstance in which he would return.
  10. That is a very weird question. Why? The only "evidence" that could exist if it existed would be a quote from Samardzija saying he does not want to play here any longer because the Cubs suck and for a variety of reasons that sort of direct quotable evidence isn't going to exist. There's been a hell of a lot of indications that he is frustrated with the Cubs and wants out. At the very least he is in no hurry to commit to a franchise that has shown zero interest in competing.
  11. I'm guessing they still need the bodies to man the OF.
  12. False. They're close, but false. Ruggiano: .247/.354/.395/.749 OPS+=104 with 2 HR and 8 RBI Schierholtz: .251/.301/.470/.770 OPS+ =107 with 21 HR and 68 RBI I'm not sure what obscure stats you're looking at, but Nate certainly had better numbers last year. Nate has the SLG but Ruggiano has the much more important 53 point lead in OBP. I'm sure the "obscure" non-RBI stats also have something to say.
  13. I was so desperate it would not have taken much to make me think he could stick.
  14. http://thegamechicago.com/2014/06/18/kris-bryant-learning-of-aaa-promotion-part-of-a-whirlwind-day/#axzz351dAJ152 He speaks
  15. It hurts to drop Javy that far, but I pretty much agree with this. I actually might put Almora a few slots lower than that, though. Schwarber at 3? Baez's year has been depressing but he is still a guy who did great in AA a full year younger than Schwarber is now, and he plays SS.
  16. Kap is a dope but Hollandsworth should know better. He's a terrible human being. What the [expletive] is their [expletive] problem. This team is a collection of flaming garbage, yet they waste time complaining about one of the few good players who actually has a future with this team. Yet I'm sure they cried tears of sad boners when Bonifacio went down because he's fast. Classic old school coach/father figure mentality. They complain because they care? You should start to worry when they stop complaining about you?
  17. Jose Bautista then? 23.5% K% at age 26 with the Pirates, Mike Olt is at 36.7% this year. The point more being I think he was thought to have blown his chance early on. And if nobody had given him another chance, he'd have been thought of like Olt years later. I know the point you are trying to make, it is just a terrible point with a bad example. The point that I am making is that Darwin Freaking Barney is not preventing Olt from doing anything. Olt's shittiness is why he doesn't play as much as some would hope, not Darwin Freaking Barney.

  19. I am arguing against the notion that Barney is [expletive] blocking Olt. Olt had his chance to whip his [expletive] out and do something with it but he blew it. Barney's sucking has nothing to do with Olt's [expletive]. Not saying Olt is good at all, but it's possible for guys to blow it early in their careers and, you know, get better. Again, not saying Olt is that guy, but it happens. A lot. Olt will be 26 in two months. And it's his first shot at a full MLB season. Age ≠ Experience Lack of experience ≠ upside.
