  4. 45 days? Free agency started November 7th. 45 days would be prior to Christmas and guys of significance wait past that time to sign. It's not just the length though, the point is nothing happens early on, whereas other leagues have a first day spending spree. We're three weeks in and Rich Hill to Oakland is one of the biggest moves still. I feel like most guys sign by Christmas but maybe I am wrong A very large chunk will, but I feel like Christmas - New Years is a big week for big guys and quite a few last into January.

  6. Bring it down to 3 teams and eliminate the team with most whiny babies asking for expansion ineligible the next season.
  7. how noble of you Noble? No, it's expecting to win. It's schools like Purdue and Illinois who pay pennies for coaches because they don't care if they win that are the problem (and drag the conference down). illinois being a perennial dog is related to your ridiculous 3 loss comment about LSU how?

  9. I would assume it would be one of those glass backed studios for the rubes to stare at with the new network.
  10. more like bland plaza
  11. The Bears have him listed as 22. As does ESPN. I'd go with that. And you're assuming he won't play one this year, which I don't believe is a certainty anymore. It has been reported that he is still not expected to play as the focus is on having him 100% for 2016 after multiple setbacks this year.
  12. Why? They spent the 80's and 90's losing 5-6 games almost every year. They lost 3 or more in 4 of Saban's 5 seasons. In 111 seasons they've averaged 3.5 losses per season. History is irrelevant in the "what have you done for me lately" society we live in. From what I can gather from being around a decent number of serious LSU fans, their dislike of Les comes down to two things: 1) He can't beat Saban consistently, and 2) He can't recruit super stud QB's. From my vantage point, I think they should consider themselves lucky that they have a coach who has averaged 10 wins a year for 10 years in a row while playing in a difficult division. I get the stupidity of college football fans. But they've done better lately than in the past and the point was that derwood's characterization of "a program like LSU" is just inaccurate.
  13. http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coaches.html go look at that offensive staff, who gets the job?

  15. I'm working under the assumption he's gone. Everybody assumed he would get one this year, and it didn't happen. Sometimes guys get a label that's hard to shake when they interview and don't get gigs. The Bears have stabilized the Cutler situation and made do with limited weapons. But it's not like they are some offensive juggernaut. It's not like Cutler is doing something he's never done before. They aren't lighting up the scoreboard, and of course they aren't winning games. He can't be the hottest coordinator right now. In fact, it looks like Josh McDaniels is considered a favorite for a couple jobs. There's a few college guys and a few retreads that are also going to get a shot. I think Gase has as good a shot as most, but it is by no means a lock after one year in Chicago. Well, he actually was offered a head coaching job last offseason that he wisely turned down. I'm just grasping at straws here.
  16. I'd bet the type of people who donate big money and play the big swinging dick among boosters aren't the type to contemplate regret.

  18. gross that money would be better allocated at almost literally any other position. they can find a way to spend it. Assume you are referring to franchising Forte? I don't love it either. But the cap is at 143M this year. Probably closer to 150M next year. The Bears have less than 91 committed for next year, and can save another 11Mil by cutting guys like Bushrod, Houston and Rolle. And the offseason approach is probably going to be similar to last year of not going after the cream of the crop big money guys, and getting guys who fit roles while they continue to build thru the draft. They have to be looking at at least another McPhee contract on defense as well as on offensive lineman.
  19. You play 6 per year and trestman was here for two years and the team still isn't good.
  20. You think it's more of a 5-10 year big picture type move? No, genius, I think it's a [expletive] move. No reason to get racist. I don't think it would be particularly exciting, but if he's a secondary pitching addition, then it would absolutely be the type of move made by a team looking to capitalize on the next two years. You don't sign such a player for any other reason than to hope for near term success. I don't understand why you sign him at all. Personal bias could be clouding my judgement, but I want absolutely nothing to do with Lackey. pitching depth. It's a stated need by management and a real concern. A guy who can pitch adequately has value. I'm not a fan of the guy and I wouldn't campaign for his signing. But as long as he isn't the headliner, it's fine.

  23. Pardon? Like the idea of trying to be good the next 2 seasons. Don't get the window idea.
