  1. Yeah so it's the Blackhawks offseason. They are like the high school baseball player who finally gets to experience a decent spring break. This offseason will probably be of most value to guys like Hossa. He's an old man but still quite good.
  2. I'd say sufficient coverage in football meanseason a lot. Merely not sucking at every spot is a pretty big deal. Then you play to the strengths of whoever your star players are. They've done quite a bit already to improve O and D, but a third CB and S, and probably a DL (depending on your view of the 2014 guys) are pretty big needs to meet the sufficient threshold on D. Or OLB because while Houston and Young areaders sufficient they'll be gone soon. Yes, it means a lot. It's why the Bears were a respectable 6-10 and not a pitiful 4-12. But they weren't a good offense and need lots of help. They have coverage, but they need impact on both sides of the ball. This offseason has had a lot of people obsessed with defensive improvements and ignoring the offense and it is baffling to me. The offense needs better players.
  3. Yeah, I'm not playing the Kevin White is basically another first rounder in this draft game. They've already lost his rookie year, which is a huge loss in the value/cap hit game. He's also one guy. They need lots more. I'd be happy with Elliot, or one of the offensive lineman here, and probably more happy with either over one of those boring linebackers.
  4. the league's reaction to hossa styled contracts was to install some sort of penalty for guys that do retire, so it doesn't help at all if he retires early. I thought that didn't effect deals signed before that rule was in place. they made it essentially impossible to enter into a contract like that going forward and used this rule to specifically punish the 6 or 7 contracts that were already signed with cap circumvention in mind.
  5. that's just crazy talk why are people pretending the offense doesn't have glaring needs? Alshon is the only thing resembling an offensive difference maker and he's as unreliable as such a player gets. I wouldn't call any of the offensives needs glaring. They can't ignore it, but they have pretty sufficient coverage everywhere but TE, which obviously has no one worthy at 11. A day two pick at a skill position and some day three depth would be sufficient as coverage for 2016 and development pieces beyond that. That said, I'm not really a needs type. Give Mr BPA, offense or defense. Either can be improved still. I'm not a need person either, but this team needs offensive improvement in a big way. Sufficient coverage doesn't win football games.

  8. Agree. Too easy to find RB's later on. the only reason he would even be close to available for the Bears at 11 is because of the anti-RB in the first round sentiment. But a truly elite RB is absolutely worthy of the pick. Getting the best RB in the draft at 11 could be much better than getting the 4th linebacker. I think it would be a great use of resources and excellent value to get Elliot at 11. I wouldn't trade up to get him, but this team needs help on offense and they need dynamic players. The likelihood of getting a truly impactful defensive player at 11 seems very low. But if you can get the best skill position player in the draft at 11. Boy howdy, that's good pickin.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] others framed it as dan asking which team was in love with him and Elliott said "probably the bears".
  10. I've got Tennessee, too now would be a good time to make that pick
  11. that's something that is impossible to avoid in two team cities. It only happens a couple times a year so I think the schedulers are pretty deliberate about avoiding it where possible, or at least they used to be. well yeah, they try to avoid it as much as possible but it happens regularly enough
  12. cubs and white sox have home games first and last weekends of May, which I always thought they tried to avoid (having both teams play at home at the same time) that's something that is impossible to avoid in two team cities.

  15. lol you're a [expletive] moron I'd love for your dumbass to explain to me what's so great about Montero. Is it the passed balls? Or the .650 OPS? Good try Yeah, dumbass. Explain it to freyr
  16. I only include them because the pitching can get dominate. Not overly worried about them on a whole Sorry about this... ...the pitching can get dominant or ...the pitching can dominate Irregardless their is nothing wrong with neither
  17. The playoffs are a crapshoot. In any 7 game series any team in this league can win 1 game against the Cubs.
  18. Ha! I heard part of that discussion, but thought it was in reference to a caller from earlier that had asked about that. PED's might be the case if he was up there throwing 100mph or something, but that's not how Jake does it. That's not how the force works
  19. pilates and kale juice are essentially the same thing as andro
  20. that's not a real middle ground. The east coast isn't going to be able to adjust to 6:30 start times. People barely make it to 7:05 starts on time. The bottom line is you do not need to fear having more than one game on at the same time. Start the east coast games at a normal time and then central follows an hour later, like they do with everything else. Theoretically, 6:30 starts shouldn't matter since the consideration is viewership, not east coast attendance having to adjust to an earlier puck drop. east coast viewership will be hit hard. The East Coast has been trained for decades to watch horsefeathers starting a little after seven. People are not home at 6:30, they aren't turning on their TV to see if the game started at 6:30.
