    the league's reaction to hossa styled contracts was to install some sort of penalty for guys that do retire, so it doesn't help at all if he retires early.

    that's just crazy talk why are people pretending the offense doesn't have glaring needs? Alshon is the only thing resembling an offensive difference maker and he's as unreliable as such a player gets.

    Agree. Too easy to find RB's later on. the only reason he would even be close to available for the Bears at 11 is because of the anti-RB in the first round sentiment. But a truly elite RB is absolutely worthy of the pick. Getting the best RB in the draft at 11 could be much better than getting the 4th linebacker. I think it would be a great use of resources and excellent value to get Elliot at 11. I wouldn't trade up to get him, but this team needs help on offense and they need dynamic players. The likelihood of getting a truly impactful defensive player at 11 seems very low. But if you can get the best skill position player in the draft at 11. Boy howdy, that's good pickin.

    that's something that is impossible to avoid in two team cities. It only happens a couple times a year so I think the schedulers are pretty deliberate about avoiding it where possible, or at least they used to be. well yeah, they try to avoid it as much as possible but it happens regularly enough

    cubs and white sox have home games first and last weekends of May, which I always thought they tried to avoid (having both teams play at home at the same time) that's something that is impossible to avoid in two team cities.

    The playoffs are a crapshoot. In any 7 game series any team in this league can win 1 game against the Cubs.

    that's not a real middle ground. The east coast isn't going to be able to adjust to 6:30 start times. People barely make it to 7:05 starts on time. The bottom line is you do not need to fear having more than one game on at the same time. Start the east coast games at a normal time and then central follows an hour later, like they do with everything else. Theoretically, 6:30 starts shouldn't matter since the consideration is viewership, not east coast attendance having to adjust to an earlier puck drop. east coast viewership will be hit hard. The East Coast has been trained for decades to watch horsefeathers starting a little after seven. People are not home at 6:30, they aren't turning on their TV to see if the game started at 6:30.

    I didn't even consider putting on the hockey game until the post game talk was over.

    For me, it's usually a leftovers situation where there's not enough chili to go around so you throw in some noodles to supplement. Especially with skyline. You don't eat it by itself, that would be like eating spoonfuls of mustard. It's a topping or a dip. so why eat it?

    McDonough's about due for a job change. He played his part and did it well, but he's not going to be much use in the next phase of the game, which will be finding a way to stay good after being great for so long, and they probably need somebody other than a PR guy in charge to accomplish that long-term.
