  1. I really don't understand how you can't understand what the issue is. It wasn't like he had three beers at a bar and had a DUI. His actions were deplorable and inexcusable. . Not to derail the convo......this part was actually interesting and got me thinking in that people really do excuse DUIs (I get the three beers part) in general in our society. I wonder if it's because so many people can put themselves in that position. Yet, it's quite a deplorable and inexcusable act in that innocent people are killed all the time. Really, people should be judged quite harshly for it by the public no matter the end result. I tend to agree. I tried to think of some other relatively common athlete crime that wasn't a direct attack on another human and didn't involve guns. I'm very anti D&D and it's one of the biggest reasons I'd never move back to a suburb.
  2. I really don't understand how you can't understand what the issue is. It wasn't like he had three beers at a bar and had a DUI. His actions were deplorable and inexcusable. And to top it off, he is not the least bit remorseful. He doesn't think he did anything wrong. I'd like to see the Venn Diagram of people who think steroid usage should be a lifetime ban but "mistakes" like Chapman's should be pushed aside and forgotten.
  3. the guy with the theoretically best at bats coming up after your two best hitters who are most likely to be on base and/or on third base seems defensible to me. The other options are quite hacky and strikeoutable. 4 guys in a row with a roughly 38% chance of getting on base seems like a good idea.
  4. stick to the obvious, just do it better than everyone. "hello, chris. do you throw a cutter?" "did you know president scissors had to drop out of the race because nobody would run with him?" "rock beats scissors!" "why are scissors such good dancers? because of their sharp moves!" Just transcribe Homer's speech from Bart Star to a giant poster board and have Chris Sale talking to jerseys. You're cut too shushy!

  7. He was sick. No injury. ACL cancer
  8. Stop pretending like it wasn't a stupid idea to have them on new years eve.

  11. Meatballs love the spectacle of someone hitting 100+ mph and watching the speeds come up on the board. When he was with the Reds the place would be half-empty and still go nuts and get on their feet once he came in. People have every right to get excited without being thought of as dumb meatballs for it. This guy is physically doing something that is unprecedented, and does it at an elite level of performance for over a half decade now. It's exciting stuff, sucks he tainted it. they have the right to be excited but no such right exists to prevent them from being thought of as meatballs
  12. More like hero horsefeathers little brats begging for shwag
  13. Sale for Schwarber, Hendricks, Happ and Candelario.
  14. that's just his way we have to accept it or we're the monsters
  15. you don't understand thingsBecause I don't share the same view of chapman as you, I know. Middle relief has been awful, the trickle down effect has already been stated. Losing scwhwarbers bat is a problem over a full season for this team. That major left handed bat really balanced out this lineup. A lot less scary now, hopefully reddick is in the cards you barely ever post anything besides some homophobic nonsense then go on a relative posting binge criticizing those people who are upset with Chapman. It speaks volumes
  16. Have you seen how many games the bullpen has either blown a lead between innings 6-7, or when Rondon chokes? I know the stats say Rondon has been great, but my goodness he is awful in major spots. Chapman is nearly unhittable, I could see him coming in and getting those 2 inning saves Rondon could never nail down. you don't understand things
  17. What she says doesn't have to be anywhere close to 100% accurate for the truth to be that Chapman did very bad things and is a very bad person.
  18. how so? the court of public opinion doesn't render a verdict or assume guilt immediately or arbitrarily. It takes evidence that may or may not hold up in court, but the existence of which we can't in fact pretend doesn't exist.
  19. I'm pretty sure deadspin whips out the old non-Favre dong reference from time to time [tweet] [/tweet]
  20. The team is in first place, and there's a lot going on. So there isn't as much incentive to pick the scab.
